Come to think of it, while this discussion is still going on, it was shown in the anime quite recently just how enormous Oz is compared to Kaashi and Oimo (sp?) and humans. It seems he is as tall as four normal sized Elbaf giants, and I really don't think Saul is much bigger than them.

The size of three. =p Moria/Kuma is around 5 meters, a giant is 10 meters, Oz is 30 meters.

Teh 2 giants in little garden looks much much bigger than 10 meters. i would say these guys are around 25-50meters

hmm in manga i couldnt tell if oz is any taller than the giant or the giant sea king xD well may b oda doesnt really show it clearly but i know oz is really big since i remember ussop say something about how he doesnt see the sea king as a big creature after he see oz xD

Those giants doesn't have a perfect body proportion (big heads), then you can't compare too well in angled camera.

I just happened to come over a random site of real life pirats that Oda has been inspired by. I found some of them kinda intresting..:

It's not impossible for Monkey d. dragon to be the last admiral..? or is it? =/

I dunno how tall Luffy is, but let's say he's 1.80 meters. but from this picture, we can see that the giant is the size of 8 luffy's (i copied luffy in paint, and pasted him in on top of each other :P)

so 8*1.80 = 14.5meters =)

That picture is all wrong dude... I dont have the link, but at that picture the human is much bigger than the elbaf giants head's. So if that's right, Saul has to be much bigger than the elbaf giants. I remember a picture of nico robin as kid and Jaguar D Saul together.. nico robin was the same size as his nose. So that would make Saul like 30 meters tall. xD

I think oda hasn't tought over this too much be4 he drew it. Acctually i think he has meant to draw all of the giants the same size, caus that's what i've been thinking untill some of u guys mentioned it. There's just no way Oz can be like 50 meters tall...... xD NO fucking way.........................

That's something to be noted. One Piece has a very dangerous geography. Not to say monsters like Oz.

It cant be the Yonkous, cause there are only 4 of them, but there are 5 routes to get to raftel...

I think the log pose doesnt work in the NW... I think that the islands move from one place to another! And thats why nobody can get to raftel...

On a more wild guess, i think the time in the NW is different from the time int he rest of the world. I say this, cuzz Oda, on one of the firsts SBS, said that he couldnt say how old shanks is now, but he could say that when he left Luffi he was 27 ... And that would be the same as saying he is 37, isnt it .... unless the time is passing differently for him!

Kind of absurd i know....but what do u think?

Monsters like the blody snakes are even feared by Giants must be a huge obstacle in the New world. Also the log may itself be a problem(eg sky islands, underwater islands, we even saw space pirates).
Diseases,pirates and sea monsters are other possible obstacles and as Raysen_ht mentioned above why not spacetime distortion?
