I highly doubt Oda would let Ace die. This is One Piece, not as cold as other series (Naruto). Not saying that is bad, tbh I want some character to die xD

Ace has also a large fanbase, if u look at the votings.

I'm not denying the possibilites that Ace could die. Sure, the statistics say that he won't since basically no major death (except perhaps Bellamy) in present-time has been shown throughout the manga.

BUT since Oda is also known to be so damn unpredictable you can never be sure. Imo Oda is no crowd pleaser, really. The fans like what he does but I don't think he adapts the story so that they will like it. So yeah, Ace could die. In fact, I feel he hasn't really played his full part yet, and being executed might be the way to do so.

Ace won't die, especially with those ratings and since emo Luffy would be lame.

Whitebeard on the other hand has been shown to be close enough to death that he has to sit around with a full time harem of nurses and oxygen. If Oda is ever going to kill off someone, it's going to be someone who he won't feel too guilty killing off. In fact, even flashback deaths have always been old codger's...

I dunno I agree with people saying that Ace could die, i hope he won't but it's not something i would hate Oda for doing, in fact personally if it was done well i would give more respect to Oda for being willing to kill off such a popular character (*cough* Kubo *cough*). Plus Luffy would not become emo, have you been reading the last 500 chapters or just looking at the pretty pictures? Luffy gets angry and desires to be stronger, he gets confused and very often upset but never emo...... He would just become that much more determined to become the king of the pirates considering he always though as his big brother as the really strong member of the family, he'll just have another bar set in his mind....But I've sure there would also be an epic revenge scene on the man who killed ace

I think the whole setting is to provoke WB now they got one of his strongest lieutenants Down, which means and combined effort to take WB ouT!
It's the marine AND the shichibukai VS WB right? i dont think the 3 admirals are gonna sit there and smile. Because its a power of 3. Yonkou-marines-chichikubai ,that makes the balance. TO totally overpower WB and make sure no deaths to marine or shichikubai occures (or shift of power in their negative point) THey would a-masses all forces to crush WB. So they can tip the scales in their favorite. Sinds the yonkou dont collaborate at all.

I also think Whitebeard ji ji might die and that shanks is gonna be the guy that said I MTF TOLD YOU SO! I sure hope shanks would help out WB, because then it would be lot harder for the Goverment to tip the scales of power in their favorite. THat will benefite what ever shanks know and want to achieve. I think he wants more then just one piece.. he use to be Gol D rogers crew so he KNOWS what lies at one piece but he also knows about blank history... just like raleigh.

So WB dies and ace got a more prominent GOAL in his live then goofing around. And he will one-shot BB with some great balls of fire.

Shanks should be there. His concern for Ace can be taken as a hint for his possible appearance in this imminent war between the World Government and Whitebeard. Or, if he remains silent regarding this and lets Newgate do his own thing, it will be mainly out of respect for a fellow Yonkou. Even so, I have a feeling that he'll be there. Being scarred by Blackbeard and being concerned about Ace must be his primary motivation to make his move.

I really don't know how to put that in a 'friendly' way, but Ace dieing could result in sth. "good" with making Luffy angry. he'S always so ambitious in that state...
whereas if WB dies Ace's dream of making him pirateking is dead too which in OP-universe leaves him half-dead, if not dead, because the loss of their captain could easily demoralize the rest of the crew.

On the other hand there are still some unknown players (does Dragon come?) and some that are not really that reliable for WG, such as Hancock, Kuma and Moria atm.
That's going to be interesting to read *wishes for kuja-sidearc to end quickly*

if we're lucky enough to see Whitebeard's Impel Down invasion, we would be treated to a series of double pages of battles...it would be amazing as you can imagine with WB and his whole crew against the WG!!!

but unfortunetly i doubt Oda would show it, at least now anyways...unless Luffy goes to Impel Down, which is also a doubt...

why should he go to ID anyway? the execution will take place in Marineford which is supposedly near Marijoya which in turn appears to be right inbetween the "new world" where WB comes from and the Shabondy Archipelago where thousand sunny currently is supposed to be...
on the other hand Luffys role in the war shouldn't be a hindrance for Oda to show us some good fights inbetween, though the SH themselves won't participate imo.

if the strawhats fight in the war, or if they dont, wont change the fact that its too major an event to pass untouched, it will be seen. but i think that the WG will most likely "win", its still too early in the story for them to suffer a loss on that scale, that is if it happens at all

The WG will crush WB I really have no doubt about that. The Ray vs Kizaru fight I think showed the power of a Marine Admiral. WB on the other hand... needless to say he's the last strong remnant of Roger's era, Luffy's going to start an era of his own. So it would make a lot of sense if WB went down and the Pirate Era ended which started a somewhat darker arc. Then at the end Luffy starts a new era of his own.

I guess the Strawhats still have a hance to catch up with Ace (with the timeline). But I hope that we see more of "World Government vs. Whitebeard" scenes. It's the perfect way to put them in larger spotlight

Oh guys don't worry WB vs WG will be shown, Ace getting captured was the event that changed the world, if the consequences ofthat event aren't shown, well that might be the biggest anticlimax in manga history LOL
