So far this arc is pretty damn good, with all the actions happening outside of what just Luffy is doing, But a year? that seems kinda long to me, has any other arc lasted that long in the series so far?

I dunno though, I mean i doubt it's something like "you have to wait until this moment" true i also doubt it's just each Yonkou is stopping each other but i think that's probably a bit more likely that a time related issue.......i think it probably has something to do with the ancient language which tells you how to get into Raftel but who knows

I'd forgotten about that little statement by Gol.D

Anyway it was said in an interview that the arc would take a year, but people thought was quite ambiguous because i think it's pretty obvious ID won't take a year so i think this is like an Ace arc, IE the war with WB will become a part of this arc also extending the length to a year or some shizzle like that

ya but if they make a story for each crew members, like what they learn and how they get back to shabondy, well id see it take it a year. but i mean like just look on how fast impel down is, like its hard to believe itll take that long. a well, its not done, plus the war didnt happen yet so we still have a lot to see in this arc.

I could go with the every 25 years theory only if it goes like this:

The only known passage/entrance to Raftel opens every 25 years.

And the Strawhats find another way get there... because just being at the right place at the right time doesn't make you a pirate king, not the kind Luffy wants to be anyway...

For this arc being a year, it could happen, if we think that this ID arc is just a mini arc, and the real arc is the WB Battle Royale, and after that one by one Strawhats arc, and the conclusion...for all of that, plus the chance that Dragon or anyone else only Oda knows appears, even a year is not enough hahahaha

and further more, when i open onemanga.com, i try to count how many chapters big arc in One Piece last....for example...Arabasta Arc -- 60 Ch. ++; Skypiea Arc -- 70 Ch. ++
for every week only one chapter being submitted and every 4week cycle there's always a week of NO OP plus national holiday, this two arc exceeds one year rite???so i guess one year is not such a long time

From what we have seen since, the pace in Impel down was indeed quite fast (almost no fighting) and I bet we will have Ace freeing quite soon. Then what will Oda do with the rest of the year (escape, war, mugiwara...) only he knows

Also all the big saga in OP lasted more than a year (alabasta, skypia, Enies lobby...) It's just that since thriller bark it's more a serie of mini arc

gigant jet shell. but not the way he used it against gecko. when i read the manga i thought luffy grabbed gecko with his hands and pulled himself, like jet rocket against blueno, at that speed and hit him with gear 3. that would be the most powerful attack, not like they showed in the anime.

I'd like to see a giant jet storm/firework too, preferably with Haki imbued fists - dunno why but I don't think the shell attack was storng - just can't imagine his chest being stronger than his fists.... though, has he ever split the air so that he had two giant fists? that's what oculd be a hindrance - or if he learns it the next step....

I reckon still there will be more gears i think it's still trying to imitate a car's power hence the metaphor so i think we'll see gears 4 and 5 at least and then Haki will be imbued with all of them progressivly

Until now I never thought about that, his higher gears would have to be haki based, I mean he can only go into 3rd gear for a few minutes right? cause if he turns into a kid infront of any enemy they'll tear him apart

Actually Luffy hasn't used it for more than one attack for a while. Even he realised he used it too much against Lucchi, and it almost cost him the fight. Since then he uses it for it's destructive ability for one or two attacks and then reverts, leaving him in child form for no more than a few seconds.

Jet Shell was different again, 2nd and 3rd would be pretty strenuous, doing it at anything other than the end of a hard battle would probably mean death. So on that note, I know everyone's going "oh man I can't wait for Haki + gear 4", but I still want to see Gear 2 and 3 "perfected". If I see a Storm in either of these forms, I'd probably have to count it as perfected since Storm is Luffy's strongest attack in normal form.

And I don't know what this "haki-based" thing you talk of is. You almost make it sound like Gear 4 will basically be Luffy making a strong aura rather than using his rubber body, which is exactly what all the gears do now. Unless Haki gives Luffy golden hair as well as a strong aura, it's not really a gear. Gears are physically obvious changes and result in massive changes to Luffy's fighting style, being able to punch through logia's doesn't change his fighting style.

i dont see how luffy could do a gear 2 and 3 storm. he could do it gear 2 easilly but like how would he use gear 3? he cant use it like shell, and i doubt he could use it in his hand cause even at gear 2 it would slow him down so much, the hole meaning of storm wouldnt be there. like its the same thing for gatling gun, but hey maybe he can, but i thought gear 3 was only for powerful blows, like bazooka, pistolet, rifle, etc.

in my opinion luffy just havnt mastered his DF yet when he does he will be able to use jet gigant storm which will probably be the ultimate gomu gomu attack

Ok here's some physics:
What causes more pain
- when a car (which wights 1500 kg ) tire goes over your foot or
- when a slender girl (around 70 kg) steps with her heel on your foot (on purpose)

The law is Pressure=Force / Surface

My point here is that a ultimate move jet gigant storm or gatling gun will be inefficient (and slower) against small opponents like Magellan. It's a move for giants like the name suggests. You can see that in a fight with Luci where Luffy beats his tekkai by hammering him to a wall...only that punch would transfer massive acceleration and throw him far away. Without a wall, ground, opponents mass (to hold him firm) this move is practically useless, because it doesn't transfer all the pressure...just remember in which situations Luffy uses those moves...mass destruction. At the end of the fight the wining move was jet gatling. So in Magellans case I think we should call Hancock to do a cha-cha on his feet

Luffy needs more power as he will fight in New World. Logical conclusion is that it will be based on haki, rather than his DF power. He will refine them more but he is already overstressing his body. Maybe some new solution?

All my struggles to predict anything are in vain. I am hoping for a death match between Luffy and Magellan but am open for a surprise. Maybe one of Luffys haki punches will cure Magellans diarrhea problems so he will take pity on him and help him in some way.
