Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

k guys im sure luffy cant use gigant gatling gun or gatling storm. even lucci said that the biggest disadvantage with gear 3 is speed and gatling gun and storm are 2 moves based on speed, wich gives them power, cause speed is energy and energy is power. like i doubt he could even get off the ground with his storm when his 2 arms are in gear 3, k maybe he can but i doubt it.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Ok here's some physics:
What causes more pain
- when a car (which wights 1500 kg ) tire goes over your foot or
- when a slender girl (around 70 kg) steps with her heel on your foot (on purpose)

The law is Pressure=Force / Surface

My point here is that a ultimate move jet gigant storm or gatling gun will be inefficient (and slower) against small opponents like Magellan. It's a move for giants like the name suggests. You can see that in a fight with Luci where Luffy beats his tekkai by hammering him to a wall...only that punch would transfer massive acceleration and throw him far away. Without a wall, ground, opponents mass (to hold him firm) this move is practically useless, because it doesn't transfer all the pressure...just remember in which situations Luffy uses those moves...mass destruction. At the end of the fight the wining move was jet gatling. So in Magellans case I think we should call Hancock to do a cha-cha on his feet :D

Luffy needs more power as he will fight in New World. Logical conclusion is that it will be based on haki, rather than his DF power. He will refine them more but he is already overstressing his body. Maybe some new solution?

All my struggles to predict anything are in vain. I am hoping for a death match between Luffy and Magellan but am open for a surprise. Maybe one of Luffys haki punches will cure Magellans diarrhea problems so he will take pity on him and help him in some way.
to tell u the truth wen a the tyre goes over ur foot it doesnt realli hurt, and to speak the truth the heel hurts way more

About the physic law, he is right.

And with the car example, remember four wheels carry the car's weight. When a wheel " drives " on you, the weight of the wheel that touched you is more important than for each other.
It's like when you have your left foot on the scales and your right foot on the ground : if you put more pressure on your left foot, even, if your two foots are both on something (the scales for the left and the ground for the right), the number of your weight will improve on the scales : because
you add more pressure on your left foot : your transfered more of your weight on the left foot.
This is the same with the car example. When the wheel touched your foot, only one of the four wheels met an obstacle ; so, only one (the wheel that touched your foot) need more pressure to overcome the obstacle.
So, this wheel is more heavy than the other because more of the car's weight is transfered on it.

The heel impact is less large than the wheel impact because the surface touched is less important but on average by cm², the heel impact is more important than the wheel one.
(This is the principe that allows a sword to come through a body.)

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Getting stomped on by a women's heal causes emotional pain if it was intentional...

...what are we even talking about anymore? *scrolls up*

Right, Storm's effectiveness. Honestly, what Storm does it not just carry with it unbridled desctructive power, but it throws so many body parts at the opponent that dodging becomes near impossible. I always wondered if Kamie (cp9 dodging tech) would have worked against storm.

But in summary, your idea of concentrated power is not incorrect, but the tire physics don't work. Storm is not a car tire. If pistol is the heel, then storm is twenty trains stacked upon one another. Even if each individual shot is less powerful, storm has so many attacks within it that if even half hit a smaller opponent, it would be incomparable to pistol.

Anyway, I drool thinking of a Gear 2 storm. I mean, I drool enough thinking about his two jet gattlings thus far, just seeing that again would be awesome. And this is also what I'm talking about with incompletness:
a) Gear 2 is incomplete because he struggles to execute larger attacks without wasting all his energy (minus the two gattling uses, all his jet attacks so far are single strike) and rarely in a large combination. If Luffy could maintain this for longer, it would be complete.
b) Gear 3 is incomplete because of its cons with speed and after-effect. If Luffy could work out the problem somehow and add some speed it would be complete.

Combined they're fairly close to complete, but god knows how the combination effects Luffy since he passed out quickly after winning last time, Zoro took the damage and Chopper was unable to analyse it properly.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Talking about damage, which one is more damaging, twin jet pistol or jet bazooka assuming they're launched at same stamina condition? jet bazooka Luffy attack with open palm, while twin jet pistol he used a closed fists :). Btw i wonder will Sengoku still manage his position as Marine top officer if only Luffy manage to get his goal (we'll see to it :)) if not who's gonna be his successor

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Jet Bazooka was with both hands too.^^ Just from the name and some videos, bazooka should be stronger than the gun. Don't you mean gatling gun? Even is the single force of the many punches is'nt as strong as the bazooka the combined strength of gatling gun is his most effective attack now.

pistol -> single bazooka :> gatling gun

It always seemed to me that Luffy stretches his hands further back when performing bazooka. So I think bazooka should have more devastating effect.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

how can gear 2 not be complete? its complete and it has side effects that just cant be avoided. hes the only man on earth who can do that and thats as complete as its gonna get. this move is kind of a sacrifice and theres nothing incomplete about it.

Why doesn't he jet gattling everything then? From memory he seems to spam jet bazooka a lot, but when outside of jet form he does gattling a fair bit. I say incomplete because I think it will continue to get better. If something reaches a level where it cannot get any better, it's complete. Gear 2 taxing Luffy's body less and less with every fight is probably both Luffy's increase in strength and increased experience with the technique.

Anyway, it is just my viewpoint of completeness, from yours it's obviously all good and the trade-off is to be expected. From mine, the trade-off is too heavy on Luffy to make it a continually viable technique and thus incomplete.

I guess it's more perspective though, so I can't keep arguing it.

And yeah, Bazooka > two pistols.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

I think the majority of the gear two side effects are gone. Luffy seem to use the second gear with no major problems on a pretty fair basis. Gear three still has problems but that could be overcome overtime as well imo.

In gear 4, oh wait there is none one yet :).

On a side note, isn't the attack he used on Croc the strongest one he has? I think it was gomu gomu no storm? I think storm was used on Gecko as well.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Gear Two's bad effects lie on how long Luffy uses that technique. I believe his strength got really drained during his fight in Ennies Lobby because it took him so long to defeat Lucci. He doesn't suffer the same casualty back in Amazon Lily because he wasn't able to maximize its power since his fight against the Gorgon Sisters was intervened by some drama.

+ He didn't have a chance to restock on some nutrients. He was repeatedly using Gear 2 with his energy reserves emptied up.
If he would, for example, use Gear 2 for short durations, and have a chance to fill himself with nutrients in between the usages, the damaging effect of Gear 2 would naturally be a lot smaller.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Is storm really Luffy's strongest move? It certainly was back in the Arabasta arc. In the Water 7 arc Luffy invented a move called "Cannon" which focuses his entire gatling gun into a single blow. I first remember seeing him use it in the Franky House to break that armor. He also used it in combination with Zoro to break through aqua laguna. The major downside behind the attack is the significant amount of time needed to power it up. It wouldn't have a chance of hitting a moving target.

The cannon move has become his most powerful single attack available without resorting to either of his gears. It seems like gear 2 could add power to it easily. Gear 3 with it could be totally badass if he held the power in his chest while he powered up the cannon, then transfered it to his arms simultaneously with the strike. I believe gigant jet cannon would be his ultimate attack based on what we've seen so far, though it would be extremely difficult to land.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

I don't think Cannon is anywhere near as powerful as Storm. Yes, Luffy did break through some armor with it, but with Storm he punched Crocodile through an enormous sheet of bedrock, which seems like a much more impressive feat to me.

Storm is, as of now, Luffy's most powerful non-gear, non-situational technique.

The Storm use the centrifugal force.
The Cannon use the principe of concentration of the punchs on an unique point.
So, the Storm and the Cannon are technically opposite.

I think the Cannon is able to come through the body of an opponent whereas the Storm is able to hit all the body of the opponent and knock out him

I think that the Cannon should be more effective if you want to kill/handicap at life your opponent because it destroys completely the part touched whereas the Storm split up the damages into all your body.
A strong Cannon may have definitive consequences upon ther body whereas a strong Storm not (even if the victim would need a lot of time to be " healed " after he was beat).

So, as all the strenght is canalyzed on a unique point with the Cannon whereas with the Storm, it is not at all, I think the Cannon is far more dangerous and strong.
It seems logic if your think about the difference of the surface the arms go towards with the Cannon (central point) and the Strorm (which punch all inside the circle that the arms do).

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Though a single Cannon shot might deal more damage to it's target than one of Storm's punches, the sheer number of them renders this a moot point. Cannon is, to an extent, a charged up Bazooka. Of course it can be a devastating move, but compared to it's duration and the amount of power put into it Storm is in a different league.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Comparing the storm that Luffy did to Crocodile with the full force of his emotions to the cannon he did on some pansy who had no chance of beating him isn't really fair. I can't argue against the idea that storm does more total damage than cannon either. I can, however, argue that cannon would be more likely to drop someone for the count than storm would. Gathering up all the energy into a single focused attack would be far more difficult to survive getting hit with.

My reasoning behind this is that most enemies seem to have a "breaking point." The most noticable example of this was the tekkai skill that CP9 members used. If you hit lucci with a hundred punches that were slightly short of getting through his tekkai, it wouldn't do nearly the same level of damage that a single punch capable of breaking through his tekkai would. That punch wouldn't even need to be anywhere close to 100x more powerful. It doesn't have to be tekkai, it can be anything, even bone stability. a punch that can grind a bone into dust will do more damage than 100 less powerful punches spread out across the body.

That was a pretty emotionally charged Cannon as well, considering what they had done to Usopp, and Storm is used rather sparingly. In each of it's three examples, Luffy is fighting a high calibre opponent with emotions running high so I'm not given many options ha ha.

Enough smaller, weaker strikes could have a corrosive effect on something like Tekkai. Without time to recover the damage would just accumulate, it isn't just absorbed. Eventually it would reach it's breaking point.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Yes emotions were definitely running high with the cannon, but the enemy was of a very low calibre. Against Crocodile, he was to the point of being ready to give his life up to win. That level of urgency never accumulated with a cannon attack.

Let's call this a draw. Storm and cannon are his two most powerful attacks, which are both used situationally. Storm would be stronger in some cases, and cannon would be stronger in others. Would you agree though that gear 3 gives cannon more potential than storm? If he ever figures out how to use them together that is.
