I wonder if we'll get a cover of the old Buggy Pirates with Alvida some time soon? It would be interesting to see what they're doing atm. Can't wait to see what they think of Buggy's most recent adventure on Marineford.

Well, basically Oda says: If you use haki and your friends collapse, you either succeed in using haki thus having Haoushoku - or you stink and need to have a bath.
Seriously, why would he use "Haoushoku" in his answer to a question about haki if that wasn't connected to knocking out people as sole haki "flavor"?! There's no other option any more.

That would mean Rayleagh has Haoushoku too then.

From this I read that there is chance that given this effect, it could be Haoushoku, but it's only a chance. Note that the question says that He is making his friends fading (LOL) but there is an IF there which indicates the probability.

I don't know, for me it's still uncertain.

The if differentiates the possibility of the writer stinking and him having hakoshou haki. If he doesn't have hakoshou, he won't be able to control it, as he is not capable to do it anyway and if people still fall down, he stinks. [That's my interpretation.]

Anyway, the IF is presented before the alternative and the "stinks" is used as another alternative option which is when I recongize the joke part of the quote.

He only states that Haoushoku Haki would be annoying for your friends. He does not states that if it is not Haoushoku Haki it will NOT be annoying.



Think about it this way:
- Hey, I have a gun but I am a bit careless.
- Well, if it is a chaingun you may end up killing someone.

This does not states that only a chaingun is capable of killing a person.

It's not "one of Oda's sillier responses" only - there's also a large amount of situations in the manga that already made it clear. This "silly response" is just the final nail in the coffin. Oda only gives two (2) possibilities to haki making people faint - either one stinks or has the Haoushoku. So there never was a Bacterian-like creature around, wasn't it?

C'mon, how long have you been reading One Piece for now? When was the last time Oda has made something happen multiple times with a confirmation in the SBS which turned out to be a coincidence after all?

But people constantly seem to stick on that "given by birth once in a million". But I won't complain anymore about that nor will I try to convince anyone...

• Haoushoku haki was always indicated as the type of haki that was able to make weaklings faint. It was only ever mentioned after Luffy made things faint, so 2+2 = ?
• Most likely still a genetic trait to one in a million people. I mean, let's face it we've only seen 5 people (Luffy, Hancock, Ace, Rayleigh, Shanks), and you could probably guess at least 4 more (Roger, Garp, Dragon, Whitebeard), but even then it's 9 people. One Piece is meant to be a larger world than ours, it easily as more than 9 million people in it. Even if 1,000 people with Haoushoku haki appear before the end, it could easily be one in a million.
• Other people have haki too. They can go nuts with stuff (hit logias, make arrows break rocks, etc), but can't make others faint (since that's domination over someone's mind/will, and truly a thing a king/ruler should have).
• If you cannot control Haoushoku's fainting-inducing ability, then it will make everything around you faint. See Rayleigh's controlled haki burst which left Hachi, Ussop, Nami, Camie and Papagg awake.

Well yeah, king's disposition haki as I have seen is "To stand above others", the weaker you are, the more he/she is in command. for example boa, she is beautiful but she becomes crazy beautiful with her king's haki which he stands above other women.

I think Whitebeard was very likely about to use it to save Ace when his illness prevented him. Fortunately, Luffy was there to use his own. That's why we did not see him making faint people.

Anyway, Fossa clearly said Whitebeard had Haōshoku Haki.

I don't want to sidetrack the topic about Haki (I just feel ... it's not the time to go on a debate).
But wait, I think my question isn't "totally" off the topic you guys are discussing
So here I go, what do you think about Roger and Zoro, I mean the "hearing things" thing.
Rayleigh said Roger could hear all things and Zoro expressed the ability of hearing the breathing of things when he was fighting Daz Bones in Alabasta.
I think it could be some kind of haki assuming that Haki could have different forms.

And if I'm not mistaken, Enel and Gandfall showed something similar to predict movements.
