Ray san clearly states Roger wasn't able to decipher (read/write) the lost language of the Poneglyphs. So it was some sort of unusal power he had. It could indeed be a power hidden latent in those with the will of D.

as rayleigh said roger wasnt able to decipher the anciant writings his ability might have allowed him to have access to the poneglyphs .

i knew a few of the pirates were modeled after real pirates, but i never knew that a lot of the pirates in one piece are based of of real pirates and other people.

most of the supernovas are, the 3 admirals, invonkov, a few of the shichbukai.
im sure there are others

Probably it has already been discussed, but... I was just randsom thinking about Garp's future after this war. We know luffy will survive, otherwise the manga is over! But, with Ace death, will he still remain with the marine? I've a feeling he'll resign as a Vice-Admiral and as a Marine at all, and will spend the rest of his life in Fuschia drinking with Dadan and telling him how proud he is of his grandson and how sad he is he was not able to save his, well, adoptive child? Actually Ace was more or less Garp's adopted child? Or adopted grandson? Who cares... All in all, that's the only smart way I can conceive to make Dadan appear from shadows, since I doubt he has moved away from Fuschia... Well, just sepculating, though.

I tend to agree with Romanov that Garp will likely not stay in his position after this war. Not only did he let Luffy get past him, but he was intent on killing one of his "allies". I don't expect that he can save face at this point...

Maybe he will sail off to live a peaceful life..or maybe not.

Well they need "more". Then again, nothing to say a Strawhat can't take two of an enemy on (Luffy took on 2 CP9 last time they broke off into boxing rings).

Whether it's Jimbei or Boa, I'd prefer not, but I'm becoming less certain nowdays. Also less certain if I'm liking OP as much as I used to. Even in this war, with all this drama and cameos, FMA is far far above OP's current level...

...I've never ranked FMA higher than OP before...
