Indeed, and it's takes time to discover your strength and weaknesses, but what meant is ... that fruit doesn't copy the other DF, but it nullify it ... you know ... as if the victim never had one, and his DF falls near him (the example of plucking an apple from a tree)

Just to throw in my two cents about Luffy being from Brazil, no one mentioned that there's a large Japanese population in Brazil so my first impression was that Oda-sensei wanted to make Luffy Japanese but just a more exotic kind. I've met a few Japanese peeps born in Brazil and they do seem way crazier than typical Japanese peepl but I'm not knowledgeable enough to make any generalizations of their love of food or adventure... (^_^

Just to say - after too much time maybe - that Dadan can't be a pirate. The first thing that we think about is Garp's will to make Ace and Luffy famous marines. But the true reason of this impossibily is Roger's will itself : that his child can live without holding any sin coming from others.
I think it's pretty obvious that Roger chose Garp because he was a strong and influent marine he trusted and that would prevent Ace from father's guiltiness. Thus, Roger would never have wanted Garp to give Ace to someone - like a pirate - that have sins that could be put on Ace's back. That's why Roger never thought of Rayleigh for example to take care of Ace : his son had to be considered as an innocent baby without any link with outlaws.
If Dadan was a pirate, Garp would have betrayed Roger's will. That means Dadan is definitely not an outlaw (or at least was not).

Totally agree
And not only because of sins, but as you say, Garp was a strong, loyal, man of honor and an influent Marine that keeps his words, so he can definitely teach him manners and how to defend himself. And of course no link with outlaws.

We don't really know. Some of the highest marines officers used affection's marks to talk to each other. In the chapter you talk about, we " heard " Tsuru-chan (by Garp), Garp-san (by Ao Kiji).

So, actually, your problem is not that the last Fleet Admiral says or doesn't say Garp-san. It is rather that a former fleet admiral took care of a child.
You know I've already said I did not think that idea is likely to be true. I just found it cool to hear.

I like how people think that the SNs & Iva-san and company don't bring a lot to a fight of this scale.
Sure in pure power they might not account for very much but this is Oda we're talking about...
We have barely seen an inking of their powers, DF or otherwise, whose to say that Boney+Law+Iva wouldn't equal a fully patched up and doped up Whitebeard in his early 30s?

Or whose to say how Hawkins's predictions would influence the flow of battle if the WB pirates could run every action by him?

Or whose to say that just because Whitebeards power didn't work on that metal wall that Kidd couldn't dismantle it in a heartbeat?

Or whose to say that the SN haven't figured out an exploitable flaw in the PXs?

Think what just one of those could mean, now think about if all of those were true? And think about how many more wonderful ways Oda could think up of making the SNs useful?

I guess Hawkins predicions takes a very low chance for Whitebeard. Whitebeard attack is more an suicide attack to save Ace. And it's no surprise, the Yonkou personality are even crazier than Luffy's when he tried to confront Crocodile or rampage Ennies Lobby.

If we measure the three great powers equality Whitebeard should already be lost. Although the Yonkou are not united. Thinking about it, it's possible that if the Yonkou united would be 2x the other sides, and that would make Whitebeard pirates = Marines or Shichibukai. And that's very scary, no matter it's "the great era of piracy".

That also make me think that those ugly folks from Shanks crew at chapter 1 (Lucky Roo, Yassop, who else) are really strong, like Whitebeard pirates?

The major problem for Whitebeard pirates are the 20+ Pacifistas. I can imagine Whitebeard fighting equally against two or three Pacifistas, but more than that would be his end.

And I don't think the Supernovas would join the battle. They are pirates for themselves, they have no reason for risk their lifes, with the chances against them, for another pirate. Whitebeard is an idol, Bonney cried because "her rock star was involved with drugs", bug I don't think she ever meet Whitebeard in person. Would Luffy join the battle if it wasn't for Ace?

Whatelse, even if 90% of Whitebeard pirates die, it would be a victory if they save Ace.

But I don't see it. Damn, chances are slim that Dragon is going to appear.
But when then? After this is over and SH get back together somehow, they'll be on their way to Fishman Island and then to New World. Dragon doesn't have any business there and he'll probably be too busy with the revolutions and such to be traveling around freely.

I think he will meet him so soon, probably not in this war, but Oda may end this year by that meeting.
