Discussion One Piece Recap episode?

I've been thinking about starting down the long anime road on this one and saw that there was a recap episode in Mar '10

Can anyone point me in the right direction to view/download this episode?

To be honest, I never heard about this one before and am not really interested tbh, since you can't really expect much of a 29 minute OVA covering ten years and 400+ episodes of One Piece.
It has been released on CD though, so savest bet to view it is buy it.
A little more interesting is the fact that it additionally contains 33 opening and ending songs ... or rather, the OVA recap is addition to these songs

Further investigation also points towards this not being an OVA but a clipshow (source)

I hope people don't use this to catch up,
one piece deserves better.

But it'll be awesome anyway, 10 years down the road I can watch this and remind myself how awesome one piece is
instead of rewatching the 400 episodes

I suppose it just has to explain the main story to the Japanese children who started watching this show just recently (a few years or so). Unlike me, they watch it on TV, so they can't just flicker through all the episodes at will, unless they buy the DVD's.
They might not have any clue what happened before Water 7 or even Thriller Bark...
I'm hoping the OVA will be more of a "documentary-narrator"-type rather than just clips of episodes slapped together.

One Piece Memorial Best OVA

It actually is some kind of clipshow... My friend with nick "Ny4a T0r R3nt" has shown me.

Seriously: I've seen much better YouTube-Videos that sum up what happened. Sound is a mixture of Japanese Dub Mix (with voices, soundtrack and the sound effects) and one of the Movie OSTs as overlay... Pretty chaotically mixed sound and very chaotically cutted and joined scenes. o_O

Seems like Toei wanted to sum up 13 seasons (from Episode 4 on to Luffy attacking Magellan) into half an hour and forgot about DVDs to actually have enough space for more than 2 hours of movie...

They sold this as OVA? Or is that a bonus to Color Walk 4/Volume 57?

It's part of a CD or DVD, not sure here, containing most of the openings and endings, so it's really just an extra it seems, nothing more. Personally I wouldn't even call it a recap, but that might just be me ^^'

I consulted my friend Ny4a about this as well but apparently was unable to ask the 'right question'.

Ah well, thanks for the extra info all. I ended up diving in and am on ep. 14 and counting =p

If I'm allowed to repeat: There are several random shots of the big moments, and put together with a narrative japanese sub as overlay. The fitting dub was mixed with some soundtrack pieces. As far as I can tell there's no sub in another language done - but be sure: I haven't looked for them.

The only interesting I got from it was the Japanese season allocation which seemed to me as if they would fit to the change of the Japanese openings. (not sure about that though.)

There were some fanmade trailers on Youtube done by a German fan - those are little masterpieces... Unfortunately they have been removed. Even if the copyright holders were right - copyright just sucks most of the time.
