So according to some spoilers yet to be confirmed on twitter that York has been captured by vagpunk and this is actually a part of some plot by Vagpunk and the Straw Hats. Vagpunk made some contingency plans just in case one of the other punks betrayed him.

Somehow I don't think oda has the balls to do a logia's awakening. The closest thing to that so far would be katakuri's special paramecia awakening which turned his environment into mochi. But that applied to actual logia fruits... Sounds weird? Imagine aokiji turning the ground to ice. Not freezing the ground, just straight up turn it into ice. Same with magma. It sounds almost impossibly OP. And even then we have other more problematic fruits like enel's or kizaru's. The heck is supposed to happen when the ground you stand on turns into smoke or light? Makes me wonder if perhaps logia awakenings will be distinct from zoan or paramecia awakenings.

Aokiji and Akainu, managed to affect the weather conditions of punk hazard but we have no confirmation on whether their used their awakened DFs . Perhaps his awakening triggers a sun storm like effect that makes the area a hell on earth or something...

I think Logia awakenings will function like domain expansions in Jujutsu Kaisen. Basically, the user creates an entirely new environment of their element where they can travel freely, where their attacks are amplified and can come from any and every direction. I don't think the ground will be affected by the elements that normally don't affect the ground: fire, gas, smoke, light, darkness and lightning.

Luffy will have been in this situation before having fought Crocodile in the middle of a desert. Akainu's would look like this:

In this scenario, Kizaru will have one of the most leathal DF ever, he's going to prove himself to be an immense problem. However, I do think Egghead will be a terrible place for him to do so because of all the light manipulation tech.

IMO awakening not necessary have to turns the enviroment into something linked to the DF type, like when luffy turns the ground into rubber but Lucci not turn the ground into a nice looking leopard carpet.

Yeah, I considered that as well but IMO that type of awakening doesn't exactly work with other types of fruits. As in, fine, turn the environment into ice or lava.. but the same type of awakening applied to other fruits just seems... world ending. Imagine if kizaru turns half an island into light... or smoker turns half an island into smoke... I suppose oda could tackle this by simply not having those fruits use awakening but that would come at the cost of consistency in the series, specially for characters from whom you'd expect an awakening. It was egregious enough to not get an awakening from kaido or big mom, imagine not getting it from admirals.

Nah, dragon should still be at nakamabaka kingdom right? I suppose he could cover pretty big distances in a short time but even for dragon it can't be instantaneous to cross the red line, he still needs to over or under it.

We are at a point in the story where I would like to see luffy having an overwhelming and almost easy win against an admiral. There is no way that kizaru would have faced kaido so relaxed.
