Welp, vegapunk has been shown to be fairly naive at times. Its how the kuma situation came about. Though I suppose the message being some years down the line would mean he learned to be more cautious. Though it's weird that york isn't fully aware of what's going on with the message, I suppose it will be over her not syncing with the others post betrayal. I suppose it's possible that stellapunk set this up so that even he couldn't stop it once the countdown started... Since doing it is an outright declaration of war and death sentence.

So, as I was guessing last chapter, Vegapunk had them in check-mate from start. If a Genius scientist is not able to be 3-5 steps ahead, it would be shameful.

It'd also just be bad writing. The guy puts an override for Bonney into the Pacifista as a way to prevent them from ever harming her. He knew he was going to be killed soon despite being utterly unaware of York's plot. He is at least somewhat aware of what transpired during the Void Century and had a close companion (Clover) eliminated by the WG thus knowing what they're capable of. He also rarely leaves Egghead and would likely know if he were to ever be assassinated it'd be on the island. If THAT guy made the world's most idiotic kill-switch it would make zero sense, period. That's part of why the countdown and Gorosei going after the Den-Den aren't that exciting to me. It's also just kind of illogical to think that destroying a single source would stop the broadcast. It's a prerecorded message and apparently all the world's Den-Den-Mushi's are already playing it. Unless Oda imagined up the world's shittiest streaming technology that doesn't have the concept of buffering/downloading then there's just no way it could ever be stopped.

I'm still thinking we get the broadcast but it happens as the crew are escaping so Oda chooses not to show us. I'll be pleasantly surprised by any portion of the broadcast being in the next 15 chapters.

Well if this chapter is checkmate, than safe to assume last chapter was the check chapter. At the end we saw Mars found the special den den mushi but also something else in the room. Question is did Mars have check or VP?

For plot purposes I think Oda will make sure VPs message goes out to the world. However, personally I think it would add proper and due tension to the story if Gorosei have the "win" by stopping the broadcast (the fact it even is happening will already sew distrust with the population), killing Stella and some of the satellites, and keeping York+Powerplant. It would be better to have credible villains that are shown to being a threat by them portrayed winning. The actual final fight against the WG will end in their loss so I think its important they get more of the wins in the war now. It will add tension to the story and just make the WG more badass. Would hate to see this be a series of constant wins by the SHs side against WG forces in direct confrontations, all culminating in a big battle where the SHs have to win for the story to end.

Checkmate means that someones King is in absolute danger. Either by content of the broadcast or direct invasion.

I wonder if York acting as a traitor is a plot. Maybe even York's plot to force other VPs and Gorosei into a situation like this? I.e their "greed" is expressed not in a way of becoming a noble, but demolishing other nobles, in a "if I don't have it neither should they" kind of way.

I guess the distributed den den mushi is just a bait to get gorosei in and blast with super weapon. or to lure gorosei to show their true face. Maybe another distributed den den mushi on the watch.
