so the hints I’ve seen say that carrot leaves with the Strawhats but Yamato doesn’t (take with a pinch of salt)

I hope the dude breaks from, and go complete apeshit on the world.
I hope he stays there. It's just an unnecessary distraction to the story to reinclude a character whose plotline is finished and whose backstory is known.

Any going back to previously finished characters would just distract from the characters that still need coverage. If which there are many dozens.

I am also still traumatized by how terrible the execution of the Edo Tensei in Naruto was.

Instead of spending time with badass dark Ninja world tailed beast slayer Kisame, we had to rewatch the death scenes of Haku/Zabuza and Asuma again, executed in exactly the same fashion as before which not only felt utterly uncreative, unnecessary and cheesy, it also completely destroyed their previous death scenes as redundant.

On top of that, he completely forgot about Baku (Gaaras master and implied to be the strongest Ninja of Suna aside from the Kage's family) for the entire war. That's such terrible plot hole that I am still flabbergasted how the author can be so forgetful.

If Oda forgets about, let's say Smoker for the sake of bringing back Doflamingo or something, I riot. Oda already had huge problems handling so many characters during Wano arc, please don't stress it. Shinobu for example completely disappears after Momo went back up, till the end of the raid, and despite being a central supporting character throughout the entire arc that should certainly have said something as Onigashima was approaching the Flower Capital.

It’s important to note carrot leaves with them but doesn’t join the crew
Remeber carrot isn’t from wano
Yamato staying back makes little sense unless Oda was serious about keeping the power hierarchy in the crew solid. I don't have an issue with Carrot joining. Her cohesion with the crew
has been solid so far

I'll wait for the full summary before I decide to tear my room up :)
I wouldn't. Yamato is totally lackluster. Worst flashback in the entire Manga. No plot. Stupid movement kit with no apparent weaknesses unlike ANY other Strawhat, but kind of taking away from Brook.

I would really like this character, but it doesn't meet ANY previously established quality standards.

Was just rewatching the Brook flashback, probably the best adaptation the anime ever did. When I read it in physical Manga, I have to make sure my tears don't spill on the pages.

There's also many other moments that randomly crack me up when I am drunk and high, like when Merry comes flying out of nowhere. They are always in relation to the Strawhats.

Yamato doesn't have anything of the likes. Right now it's like a fanservice inclusion, the character seems made up by an editor. Oda did not even bother to include a full fight, that would have been the easiest way to make the readers like Yamato.

Sometimes I think people are expecting too much. Yamato was introduced what, 50, 100 chapters ago?
Her immediate reaction was, hey I've been waiting for you and I'm gonna leave with you.

Luffy doesn't know her relationship with Ace yet.

Yamato's flashback is pretty solid. Abused as a child by her dad, forced to see atrocities and not be able to do anything about it.

She's fought for herself, tried to change her life and couldn't until now.

She's SH material through and through. Same with Carrot. If both end up joining I'm mega happy. If Carrot goes back to Zou, still fine. She'll be back in the final war.

Yamato on the other hand, will complete what Oden couldn't, and will complete what her dad couldnt.

I would generally agree with you, but would make an exception for Doflamingo. Easily the best character in One Piece (IMO)

The dude is too relevant and connected to not make an appearance again.
He also has an insane grudge against the Tenryubito. Unleash him on the CD, and let's watch the carnage!

Yamato is honestly meh, but I suppose I've have to give her a bit more chance before going off.

Regardless, Yamato over Carrot ANY DAY

"I don't like the character so it must not have been made by Oda" - you can go look at Oda's literal notes to see that Yamato is his creation. I'll never understand the "blame the editor" mentality for parts of the manga that are not to the readers' tastes. I get that you're being sarcastic here, but it's become a pattern to blame editors / Oda's assistants for anything in the OP-verse that's not amazing, and credit Oda with the rest. Oda planned Wano for years (including Yamato), and I'd be very surprised if the assistants had much to do with the story beyond helping keep him on-track for actually finishing it.

Anyways, Yamato didn't really need a fight considering his primary goal in Onigashima was support. Did Usopp have a legitimate fight when he joined? Or Nami? Or Zoro? Or Jinbei? Or Sanji? Or Brook..? Or Robin? I don't really recall many SHP members having a full fight in the arc they joined. Sanji got his ass kicked by Gin. Zoro "finished" Morgan, but it wasn't really a fight. Nami didn't do much. Usopp ran around in the woods with some kids IIRC. Jinbei steered the Sunny out of harms way..

OTOH, Yamato was pretty critical to stopping the island from exploding, holding off Kaido, and protecting Momo from the Beast Pirates. Not to mention his back story is on-point with other SHP: Shitty upbringing with some moderate to extreme emotional (and physical) abuse, and a clear goal (journeying out to sea like Oden did). Not to mention the entirety of Yamato's appearance in the manga has been during the Onigashima War, which hasn't really provided a moment for a legitimate background, so we only got the bits of Yamato with Ace, and Kaido locking him up with Samurai.

Supposedly because the jump is similar to Oden jumping onto Whitebeard's ship or something. These hints are kinda stupid. They range from blatant spoilers (latest one I saw was literally Joker from Batman), to hints that are so off-point you'd have an easier time finding out who the Zodiac Killer was.

Next level trolling if true lol
At this point Yamato NOT joining would be a more ridiculous retcon than the Nika fruit. The amount of breadcrumbing the reader to feel like he's destined to join just to have it not happen is a bit ridiculous. It'd be like if after all of Fishman Island, Hachi joined, and Jinbei was like, "Yeah I'm gonna stay with Big Mom!"

Yeah, he's 100% joining. The only person who Momo stopped from helping him against the admiral was Yama, and the reason was "you are part of the straw hats, you are leaving, we can't rely on your strength anymore".

Oda's not going to change his mind here.

Could the Lupin hint be referring to Denjiro? He did have that whole role in the story of being the midnight-guy or whatever it was called who would steal from the rich and give to the poor. I vaguely recall him being a guy that might have been jumping from rooftop to rooftop, but I might be misremembering that part.

I am certainly not expecting too much after following this story for 21 years. There are established standards that are one of the primary reasons I love this story so much.

The lack of them is also actually the reason why I don't like Manga in general anymore. It's actually not just Manga, the entire quality of fiction is on a downscale as society becomes more and more... Actually it becomes totalitarian and the "Gleichschaltung" of fiction writing is one of the primary examples of that.

So I am kinda emotional about this.

The flashback is a grey mess that is more about Ushimaru than about Yamato. It's also terribly short. Certainly has to be the worst flashback in the entire series. Just compare them all.

Oda also showcased he can integrate late-stage inclusions pretty well with the Vinsmoke plot. So what's going on with Yamato, it's half-assed at best...

The dude is too relevant and connected to not make an appearance again.

That's not going to happen. Noah is a ship to save everyone.

Oda toys with the expectations of his male audience all the time. #1 reason why I could solve this story is that I stripped myself from any thought taboo. #2 is that creativity is limited, and I developed a scientific method to explore its limits. And Yamato is way below the limits of Oda's creativity, the guy is a genius.

On a side note, I do think leakers are trolling though.

Shanks as a plotter seems more and more likely as times go by. It could be part of his masterplan
I wouldn't be surprise that Shanks smack Buggy in the back so he eats the Devil Fruit and it wasn't an accidental at all :teehee
