Maybe I'm the only one thinking both the "traitor" and "let me die" thing were Vegapunk's brain (esp. if it starts operating on its own once there's only one satellite connected for X period of time). Then a flashback to explain when that contingency was planned for and then erased or separated from shared memory. Maybe Atlas was the only one who knew or something. I could see that being the case. It's not even clear if all of them knew about the Void Century research.
