Yeah I agree. I've still got in my head that "leak" years ago where Luffy will fight the Devil who has access to all Devil fruits, it made it seem like a rule breaking force that can do anything. Luffys imagination side of his fruit should be a counter to that to a degree.

Oda had this planned out a long long time ago. Could be a rubbish fake leak but so far we have Imu looking like a devil and a very versatile fruit that showing multiple different powers like a Zoan transformation, imbuing others with power, fast travel, summoning different weapons.

There was also the point of having Luffy make an alliance with everyone and fight Imu, which is slowly happening too.. that scene where Mohawk saw that power in Luffy at marineford.

One piece is not generic? It's a Shonen inspired by journey to the West.. they all have similar/generic themes.

We have Devil fruits, The big bad turning into a Devil. A dumb main character who turns enemies to friends, Inherited will, Main character awakening an important ancient power, toon force too.. I mean, that's all generic stuff right?

I love One Piece, but it is a very straightforward Shonen in hindsight. The fact the story is told from a naive point if view makes us fans scramble to figure out what's next and come up with wild theories when it's always such an on the nose, simple progression when the chapter drops.

That's not to say the story isn't layered and intricate, it is, it's just the path through the story is extra mysterious but when looking back at all the paths that could have been taken, the simple one is the one we follow.

That's another example, as is Naruto. I mean Monkey D. Luffy? Monkey... Dumb protag who charges head first and loves to fight. It's all from the same source.

I think that's more about Luffy being inspired by Goku from Dragonball, than the actual Sun Wukong from the story, though I guess a lot of adventure stories, especially from east Asia, would in a way be inspired by Journey to the West. Anyway, I mentioned Dragonball, since that had character names, characteristics and themes from Journey to the West, at least at the start. In One piece, I think it is more subtle, besides Luffy, and well, there is a journey.

The whole God Valley story in one flashback?? That whole Incident is already as huge as Marineford, which took 31 chapters....
How long will the Elbaph arc last? i just have a feeling this arc takes up to 3 years in real time to get all those loose threads together.

However, after learning so many things about GV and the CD´s hunting game I do have a strong feeling that the coming Royal hunt might take place in Fishman Island, which might become the real end game of One Piece. And I´m really looking forward when Cross Guild is going to turn the tides there and start a hunt on the Celestial Dragons.

There will be no such game. The CD are starving and their holy land is under attack the way the things are moving suggest there will be war(s) in which the WG will be directly involved and no time for games

Seems Imu wont be need to hide anymore...not if you have a weapon with infinite shots to VAPORIZE ANY ISLAND...

It was Fisher Tiger alone that supposedly attacked Marejoa. And while many may just question why the World Nobles seem so defenseless
Given Garlings mission it actually seems likely the Gods Knights are not always there
