There's also the list of crimes Rocks Pirates were reported as having done, and for anyone who wants to claim Rocks was a good guy for doing all that, then therefore Kaido, Big Mom, Shiki, Ochoku, and the others are good guys for helping him.

Buggy is one of my favorite characters and I love how he keeps falling upwards, but I do think that trait would be somewhat diminished if all along he was the son of one of the most important characters of the verse... from a reader's outside perspective, sure, it could be seen as another case of "falling upwards" but in-story it kinda does the opposite I think. Lowering the ceiling for how high he can fall, as it were.

I wouldn't say I'd hate it and I think Oda could possibly make it work, but as it stands I'd prefer if he remains that character who's just "a guy" who somehow got to the very top.

I'd say it'd negate the gag of him failing upwards. Failing upwards works in large part because he's just a regular guy surrounded by legends and family of legends.
