wtf was he thinking doing like 99% of the stuff he did?

Dude made so many terrible decisions that resulted in countless deaths and immeasurable harm.

Dude was trying to make the WG a copy of Kaido’s fruit, made them a cyborg army, made them a couple more even better cyborgs, made them ships that can safely travel through the Calm Belt, and recreated the power source needed to fuel their doomsday weapon.

And how many millions were saved by him thanks to his scientific discoveries? His scientific curiosity is good and bad. Also what was he supposed to do at his position? If had rebelled earlier against the WG they would have just killed him earlier or worse would force him to do their bidding somehow else. What's more surprising to me is that they were willing to kill Vegapunk. There is no one that can replace his genius. Its like the world of OP goes back to the dark ages without him. It's crazy how far Franky still is from anything close to Vegapunk.

Go join Dragon and actually put his genius to use saving lives from the cruelty of the corrupt WG, which he knows is corrupt and cruel, instead of handing the WG a bunch of tools to help the WG solidify their cruel and destructive stranglehold on the world?

The WG would be laughably weak if it wasn’t for him. All of the things he gave them were being used to enslave and kill people, not protect them, because the WG doesn’t actually protect anyone but the CDs, and they don’t even seem that great at that.

Places that were under Whitebeard, or even Big Mom’s protection were far safer than any island flying the WG flag.

The WG is just a glorified pirate crew who doesn’t actually provide any benefits to the people it’s collecting tithes for.

I don’t really see a problem with that since the last show off arc we got was Fishman Island.

They are a Yonko crew now, they deserve a bit of show off time, especially against a group that has been so very clearly out classed and/or afraid of confronting other Yonko class crews all story.

That "Yonko crew" you're speaking of is 99% Luffy, Zoro and Sanji + 1% backup dancers.
I don't need to see another "gomu gomu no dawn bullshit", "santoryu can't see what I did as I'm already behind you, posing" or Sanji "Prince of the simps" Vinsmoke.
Show me Franky's BFs, Chopper rumble ball transformations, Usopp doing... something, etc.

All it took was 2 god knights to capture half of the crew. Without plot armour they're would be dead.
Who outclass who?

I’d love an arc with the monster trio incapacitated or separated from the rest and having the other SHs be the main focus for the main battles

To be fair 1 god knight's power alone almost won the entire "mighty nation" of elbaf
