What would be the point of a combo attack after a triple combo in the last chapter?
It seems there was a combo attack in the end... a proper one..

The key is combining both.. the lightning and a Nika attack into one like when Luffy attacked summers..

The bullet was referring to Luffy lol
Yeah fair enough in the end it was just another moment of Usopp yapping on. But I'm still patiently waiting for him to fail upwards (again).

That's just bad writing.

Dawn Bullet is my guess.
Called it.. well not the Thor part.

I don't think that's true. The big bad is so overpowering that the 2 strongest have to combine efforts to attack. They both got beaten 1v1 so 2v1 is the logical next step.

I'm talking about 2 vs 1 being stronger than 3 vs 1 in the last chapter when all they've done is left out Hajrudin. Gokoku Sovereignty should have been their "strongest" attack and it was filled with haki.

To tell me that this haki attack with fewer people is stronger is bad writing.

We've also been teased about a combined Sovereignty attack for ages. Even BM + Kaido did it as a crazy powerful attack. Now it can just be blocked like that?

Why is Hajruden even there then? he's just transport for Ussop?

He was there to save the day initially.

My guess is that the Luffy + Loki attack perhaps isn't one Imu has seen. He knew how to guard against the Haki blast as that's probably and ancient move used on him before.

He's seen nidhogg fight and joyboy fight (thought not together - except where he has for the last few chapters). Has probably seen the hammer since its an 800ish year old DF too.

I still don't see why this attack should be stronger than the 3vs1.

There he is... gave final speech... ready to die to give Luffy some seriousness and motivation to destroy his oponent.

Ah maybe I wasn't clear. I'm not claiming he hasn't seen them fight before and I'm not claiming it's stronger. I'm saying maybe Imu hasn't seen the Nidhoggr user throw the Nika user with a hammer before and the user be coated in lightning.

I think that's caught him off guard and he's been damaged.

So far, only attacks that have caught Imu off guard have done some damage, if he blocks the attack it doesn't seem to really affect him. So this is the first real big attack that's landed (according to the spoilers), combine that with the comments on his weakened body + coughing up blood = this attack hurts him.

Confirmed

Oh, oh wow. That deffinetly sounds like something amazing. Also would you look at that, Loki helped Luffy do an attack that seemingly worked on Imu. Aww, our jerky prince is softening more and more. And Usopp saying something soo heroic is pretty rare. He almost make Gaban the "second strongest" member of Roger Pirats run for his money. For once I'll be hyped for Usopp.

Not really bad writing. It's called keep trying until they hit him. You know, Oda's just trying to create a sense of an incredible wall. They got to keep whittling it down.
Personally, I think sovereignty is easier to deal with than a smaller projectile.
Also, asking what's the point of a two person combo after doing a three person combo is like asking what's the point of executing a three hit combo and doing a grab and throw after executing your Ultimate previously. And it's answered the same way: the fight's still going so you have to keep fighting.
It's like you're governed by the aesthetics of how a fight should go instead of the context of the fight.

That said, generally, I do wish this fight was over, but Imu right now is serving as a vehicle for the others characters to have moments against.

I think the key lays in combining both powers,, Nika and Nidhoog in a proper and functional way ... like literally pushing Luffy's along the Nidhoog lighting in a brutal combo attack ,, something even a Sovereignty brute force type attack,, could not provide..

This one (the one between Luffy and Loki) it was even more functional and even better mixed than the One Luffy's did to Sommer's (Who also made use of the Nidhoog lighting )

It's also creative. Clearly the brute force attacks were easily blocked by Imu. Hell, even Zorro managed to block BM + Kaido's joint attack even for a second so it's pretty straightforward that Imu being the current big bad, could block such an attack.

These surprise attacks are what's getting him. Hurling Luffy covered in lightning to land his fastest attack (bullet) would totally be surprising and also fitting to theme of what has been able to get through Imu's defence so far.

Yeah, Imu may be really sturdy wall but even thickest wall start to crumble if you hit it repeatedly and hard enough. Espesially if said wall is on time limit and will have to "disapear" at some point. I still don't think they will defeate him here but Luffy and co will deffinetly force Imu out because their stubborness will make him run out of time.

Luffy and Loki's joint attack definitely packed more kinetic force than the trio's attack with Hajrudin IMO, most likely even by an order of magnitude more.

I’ll explain my logic using the Oreshnik missile (or any other IRBM or ICBM) so it makes a bit of sense: This particular missile hits (or impacts) at Mach ten kinetically, or a little bit higher if I remember correctly. If a conventional payload is added and it explodes just before impact, the destruction is increased by orders of magnitude, perhaps between two to three orders of magnitude which is between 100 to 1000 times more powerful, since the exploding force naturally inherits the initial Mach 10 speed as its starting point.

Perhaps it’s not exactly the same thing going on here, but Luffy’s mid-flight lunch of the dawn bullet while already travelling at such insane speed (due to Loki)… most definitely compounded the speed and impact of the attack, especially since it arrived with both conqueror's haki and the lightning, at least that's how I see it.

To add to your analysis, Sovereignty is like an anti-army or anti-fortress attack from Fate/Stay Night. It's meant for widescale damage, but because of that, the majority of the force is just wasted. Like if we pictured it as a wave attack, it's much larger than Imu, so Imu for example, only took 20% of the wave. Also, it being so big makes it theoretically easier to block with a single barrier.
Now, if Luffy, with a fully elastic body, is swatted, he's benefiting from what makes bullets so dangerous. The full force of Loki's muscle strength plus the force from the hammer is transferred into Luffy, and he delivers it to a single point. The same barrier that might have tanked Sovereignty had all of the barrier's face take a percentage of the attack and disperse over that surface.
This is the physics of why a hammer can't do significant damage to a block of wood in the same swing that sends a nail deeper into the wood.
It's the same physics as how someone might fall through ice if they stand, but can move across the ice if they're lying with their whole body.

Regarding your first opinion, I would say that the trio attack could have had more kinetic force than this one, but the majority of the force hit empty air, and that will be true unless someone can show me an instance where the attack was concentrated on a head-sized point.

Poor Haj just really can’t catch a break. He finally gets like one cool moment and then it immediately goes to him actually not being that cool after all and just kind of getting in the way.

Usopp seems more likely to end up King of the Giants at this point.

Let's just say the quiet part outloud: So DF powers stronger than Haki now? (The hammer's power). So much for Kaido's rant. That was so 2 arcs ago. Oda's something else.
