It's possible that his family discarded him or he believed them dead but are actually still alive though.

My first thought is that they are inside Blackbeard. That's why Ace is shocked on the picture. Blackbeard showed him during or after their final fight.

It is definitely huge but as I said in the chapter discussion thread that these are sketch ideas for possible characters. The magazine description is not conclusive about whether or not that these were stories Oda discarded.

That Teach has family members?! And also Ace who couldn’t hide his shock expressions when he saw Teach’s little sisters. What exactly is this sketch telling us?

If it was an discarded idea, it wouldn't be stated as such, there wouldn't be any need to be that cryptic, even raising a question in the end and including Ace.

It's also the official magazine and not a third party having insight into Oda's notes. Everything in the magazine is placed there for a reason, mostly promotional reasons, and including Red Herrings that confuse your readers is very unsuited for that.

Parts of the designs might have changed, but this fits so well into the "three skulls, special body, anti-luffy" stuff that I think this is legit.

Even though the idea BB has sisters has been discarded, it doesnt invalidate how Zoro and Luffy said "not him, but THEM" at Jaya...

I always wondered how they were able to deduce that back then. Hope Oda elaborates soon within the next couple...years lol

Blackbeard's mom is in disguise. She looks nice but was probably a bitch. We will get some personal lore flashbacks for Blackbeard and I have a feeling his mom may turn out to be some kind of hagraven which turned him into the person he is now. My question is, is his mom a D also?
