Blanchett is one of my favorite Actresses, but even so I've been team Yeoh ever since I saw EEAAO... until the other night I watched Tár and it's arguably one of Blanchett's very best performances ever, so I won't even be mad if she wins. If it was simply about who put in the best performance, and no narratives (Yeoh first Asian winner, Blanchett already has two Oscars etc), I think Blanchett would be a lock.I'm fine with either Blanchett or Yeoh, I think Blanchett is the likely one to win.

Naturally IRL situations shouldn't really have an "impact" on this sort of stuff, but since his "cancellation" was all industry related, it could be that they also want to give him the Oscar so they can pat themselves on the back ("see, look, he's one of us again").Since Ke Huy Quan is bound to win Supporting, and everyone knows we'll see his "comeback moment", I'm not so sure Fraser's "comeback story" aspect is enough, but we'll see.
I agree, watching Tár was one of those experiences where I stop completely recognizing the actor, and only see the character, which is a very good thing.Blanchett is one of my favorite Actresses, but even so I've been team Yeoh ever since I saw EEAAO... until the other night I watched Tár and it's arguably one of Blanchett's very best performances ever, so I won't even be mad if she wins. But as it stands it's a very tight race between them I think, and I've got Yeoh ultimately taking it.
On the documentary side, I only watched Fire of Love and All That Breathes a few days ago.I ended up going pretty much a landslide to EEOA afterall. As much as I wanted to give it to Curtis and the costuming, ended up with Condon and Elvis in those eventually. I guess my "risk" picks were John Williams for OST and Fire of Love for documentary. I think documentary is likely going to Navalny, but as as film Fire of Love was so much better, that I had to just pick it.
