I used the term from One Piece because I figured that was where Oda got the name from. Apparently I was wrong. But then where the heck did the "Kurei" come from if it isn't part of the name of the festival...?

@Eni . That thread must have had loads of replies lol. Mostly I see mods saying on forums "stay on topic" etc but this was a free thread in which you could say anything? Guess it got out of hand..

Does anyone know if there is a website saying sales figures of manga sales? I know about Naruto and Bleach, but there was of Naruto Volume 36 (now it's 10 more volumes so the past record was old) and and not sure about Bleach.

If you mean for how the new volumes sell, then Anime News Network posts up the sales ranks that they get from Oricon, one of Japan's biggest book distributors.

If you mean for overall, then here is an article that ranks the best selling manga of 2008, as well as the best selling Weekly Shonen Jump series' of all time as of 2008. Hopefully one of those is what you're looking for.

Those are just the sales for a week. It can very well be that the One Piece volume is longer out since Naruto's and therefor has leveled off at lower sales now

You would need to know the exact publishing dates to make accurate comparsions (e.g. Naruto's and OP's sales in week #3 after they were published which isn't the same week for both of them).

Regarding the tankou sales numbers, it's no secret that One Piece is currently the most popular series in Japan. Newest volume charted for like..6(?) weeks in the Oricon top 30 with over 1.7 Mio. books sold.

One Piece is number one. Nana comes closest. Since debuting at number 1 the week ending March 16 volume 21 has sold 1,351,356 copies. I've never seen it out sell One Piece, but there's no doubt Nana is the second most popular manga.

NANA? eh... I never thought a shoujo manga could compete in the same level with shounen when it came to sales. especially because shoujo like Nana get churned out once a month. hmm.. interesting.

Nana's huge. Nodame Cantabile, Full Metal Alchemist, and Naruto are the only other million sellers; all three are a bit behind OP and Nana.

If Bleach has ever sold a million copies of a volume it took months to accumulate. The five I listed hit a million copies in a month or less, and does so with every volume. Bleach is a best seller, but not in that strata.

I see, you meant in a month. I was just talking about it's whole history, I think in it's history it has sold over 50 million. Hmm..

So Naruto is getting close to it's 100 million sales, and One Piece ( I don't read) is reaching Dragonball'z sales which is 150.

One Piece will over take Dragon Ball within 2 years just by sheer length. It will PROBABLY be the best selling manga of all time. Once it gets past Dragon Ball, I don't think that it will ever fall behind again. Kochikame MAY end up selling more than either, but that's a matter of whether or not it actually lasts so long that it can outsell One Piece, which should last for another 8-10 years, hopefully. Kochikame DOES have a pretty good chance of outselling Dragon Ball, but again, that's due to sheer volume. the series is over 160 volumes long, after all.

Naruto has a CHANCE of beating Slam Dunk, but that's it, and even that's a bit of a long shot. But either way, it's the 5th best selling Jump series in history, and that's something to be proud of. Then again, it may eventually feel a threat from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, thanks again to sheer volume. That tends to help with volume sale numbers.
