I enjoy a lot that goes on there so it's to bad...

I'd love a Young Jump convo! While I read quite a few YJC series, I know little about the magazine itself.

Let me put it like this, the name is very misleading.

I always felt that Neuro should be in Young Jump, not Shonen Jump, it would have fit in much better there.

Elfen Lied used to be published in YJ. Actually it just hit me but isn't Captain Tsubasa currently being published in Young Jump?

The last few Captain Tsubasa series have been in WYJ. Real is also published in Young Jump.

When Young is in the title (Young Jump, Young Magazine, Young Animal, etc.) it's always a seinen magazine.

Young Jump is pretty seinen, with series like Gantz and Zetman in there.

I think we can call Young Gangan seinen. Sekerei, Until Death Do Us Part and Kurokami are very seinen.

UDDUP and Kurokami, yes... but Sekirei... I'd put it on same par as ToLoveRu in terms of maturity to be honest.

True, thinking about it. Sekerei is no racier then a lot of ecchi from anthologies that are obviously shonen. Out of curiousity: how does Young Gangan market itself? It would be really interesting to see the ads; always a good way to tell who a magazine is marketed towards.

Sekirei is a lot like Tora, but it's a lot racier and has actual nudity I believe. The term seinen is often tacked on to a variety of different styles of series, but the demographic breakdown really comes down to the magazine it is in.

Impossible. Naruto would have to be twice as long as it is now to outsell Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Kochikame. It just isn't as popular (or in Kochikame's case, as long) as the others. It's still QUITE popular, but not exactly "eternal pop culture icon" popular, which Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Kochikame are. And long, they're also long. Kochikame is already the longest manga in history, and One Piece will probably be about 100 volumes long itself, hopefully. Naruto will be about 50, do the math.

I don't read One Piece but I just know that it's already surpassed Dragonball's Mark. OP has reached 158 million sales. Also why is OP going to be 100 volumes? Is that confirmed or something?

He said 'hopefully'. But even so, I hear quite a lot that the story is just at a half point. Since it's now at volume 54 is does sound reasonable to expect it to double the amount of volumes. And having it run for 20-25 years is nothing special in the manga world, which would be enough to reach 100 volumes.

As for the other topic, I find it quite ridiculous to celebrate that a series sold out another when you count a much different amount of volumes. Of course, you just have to let a series be long enough and it will sell out just anything you want when you wait long enough...

He also said Naruto will be around Volume 50 but the current chapter is 456 and that's already in Volume 49. Even though Volume 49 hasn't been released yet with the whole 10 chapters/ volume, you can judge it. And there's still plenty of more stuff to write for Kishi and he can easily reach 70 and more. It's not an impossible task as he implies.

That's what I mean and I agree with you. Look at Death Note. Only 12 volumes and the sales are 27.5 million. That is excellent for a 12 volume manga. LOL

Well in America and UK Naruto is the most popular manga as well as anime. Well I definitely know about in UK and Imitorar says Naruto is much more popular in America then one Piece.

The only three/four mangas that are selling at all in Sweden are DB, Naruto, Bleach and OP iirc. The other mangas/animes doesn't go with any profit in Sweden...
We're such a mainstream anti-manga country!
I think Naruto's the most earning, then OP and DB and Bleach 4th.

Yep, as sad as I find it, Naruto is the top seller here in Finland too. The Manager of biggest only manga publishing group just answered some reader questions considering the sales. Best sales ever: Dragon Ball (ended about two years ago) Best sales currently: Naruto.

Even though the biggest sellers are the mainstream monsters (Bleach starting this month), I'm still quite happy that we get some underground stuff and classics published too (mainly seinen). Yotsuba&, The Wind Valley of Nausicaä, Gunnm, and Hellsing to pick some.
