A Bridge of Peace
Last week Konan became officially the most underestimated character of the shinobi universe, some even define her role in Akatsuki as Nagato's nurse. This week we get to see why her figure appeared as class-s shinobi or class-s criminal depending of the translation you read, when Jiraiya was explaining Kakashi about Akatsuki.
Konan was the only character of Akatsuki that we never saw in a fight, probably due the fact of Konan being with the most powerful shinobi ever seen in the world of Naruto, Nagato (Sixth Paths of Pain). There was not space to allow this performance to happen before Nagato's death.
Uchiha's Power
For someone who was betrayed by the Uchiha, someone how wanted revenge on his own clan and finally assisted in the destruction of his own clansmen, Uchiha Madara seems to be proud of the Uchiha's and the power contained in Sharingan. Attitude that we have seen only in two other Uchiha. The first one was Obito, who bragged his lineage to Kakashi. And the second is Sasuke, who bragged about his Uchiha's lineage to everyone who was in front of him.
This time Madara is more analytical, although he shows the same design flaw of the Uchihas, their arrogance. Arrogance that led to him getting really injured, as shinobi he underestimated Konan and took her as an easy pray without considering his owns weaknesses. As he has stated before he is shadow/shell of his former glory (self) and even back then in his prime, things didn't turn out so well against Hashirama.
He was over confident of his abilities that he didn't thought that his opponent might be ready to everything he has to offer in his current condition, as seen in this chapter Konan planned ahead how to counter the two well known Madara's abilities... the ability to phase trough objects and the ability to warp everything he touches or himself.
This leads against to him losing his arm, this the second time he loses his arm and the third that his current body have been seen severely damaged, the first time in terms of manga appearance would be his fight against Fu and Torune, having his arm infected by Torune's insects, he had not other option than to remove his arm to stop the bacterial swarm to spread to the rest of the body.
The second time that he an arm severely damage was when he fought Minato Namikaze, this after getting hit by Rasengan. And the third time, now against Konan's explosive tags.
While we get to see Madara getting the heat, at the same time Kishimoto teases us by letting us see part of his one more time, in this opportunity we got to see the same side we saw in Ch.399, but this time while he looks all beaten, he looks way younger in comparison. He looks exactly like the fan art that is around the web from a dvArt artist, the picture was Obito with Tobi's Mask broken just similar to what we see today.
Madara originally came to obtain information, as he see Konan determination in not giving Nagato's rinnengan to Madara, he decides to kill her, however the situation seems to be something that he never expected to happen, at least something that he never expected that would happen to him with Konan as his opponent.
God's Angel
So finally Konan shows up her fangs, just as Madara said, probably the most underestimated member of Akatsuki and certainly last week most underestimated character in the shinobi world. has delivered a sweet message from the author to the fans, as Madara also made the same mistake of most of the people and it was... to underestimate Konan as character.
She was already prepared to counter Madara known a abilities, and only Kishimoto knows what else could she be waiting from Madara, as she was the only person besides Nagato, who knew about Tobi in Akatsuki, even the most loyal man to his ideal "Kisame", found out about Tobi very late, when they already had 7 bijuu under their control.
Konan has the upper hand right know, but there's a lot that could happen, If Madara decides to not retreat, we might get see Tsukiyomi or if he decides to remove the other side of his mask and show a sharingan, then is possible to see Amateratsu.
Amegakure no Sannin
We got to know more about Akatsuki origins from Konan's perspective, although Madara said that he was who spurred Yahiko to form Akatsuki, but it's that true? or was he trying to break Konan emotionally?. From Konan's perspective Yahiko formed Akatsuki, the red clouds...
We already know about how Nagato awoke the rinnengan, we know how they met and how Yahiko died, this all directly from Nagato's perspective. Now we are getting to know more about Yahiko trough Konan's eyes. Yahiko was shown to be a charismatic leader, as the rest of the original Akatsuki members were willing to die with and for him in battle.
The Rinnengan
Madara's goal with the rinnengan still unknown, we don't know if he is planning to become Rikudo, or if the rinnengan is required to merge all the beast into one. However Madara claiming that he was who gave the Rinnengan to Nagato is a littler weird as we know that Yahiko awoke those powers when his parent died, there are possibilities, many scenario where what Madara said could be truth, but most of them would downplay the role of rinnengan in the story and rise several questions in relation.
Can the rinnengan be transplanted? If yes, then why Madara didn't transplant the rinnengan on himself?
A sea of paper
The chapter ends with an epic picture of Konan diving the sea in two, could this be the preparation for a final attack on Madara or could it be that she is planning to seal Madara in that sea of paper?
Thoughts.
So this week I'm very partial towards a side, this case the underdog, represented in Konan. That's probably why I thought that the best way to be objective about the review, was actually to keep it short and think things several times before posting them. This review took me 3 hours just to write it, this means excluding the time taken to work cut and upload the pictures. Last week I said:

However this chapter opens many possibilities to the outcome that we might see next week, these are:
- Konan is actually beating the crap out of Madara, forcing him to retreat.. however he gets the rinnengan anyway.
- Konan have been trapped under Madara's Tsukiyomi, probably from the very beginning or before she could finish using her paper technique we see at the end.
- Konan forces Madara to escape and take things, a bit more seriously.
- The rest of Madara's mask will break and he will cast Amateratsu on Konan.
In my very deep personal opinion, I don't think Madara can use Magenkyo Sharingan techniques in his current conditions, if he could... he would have used it against Minato and he didn't, less right know when he is in a worse condition compared to how Minato left him during Kushina's flashbacks.
As the origins of Akatsuki, I could be wrong.. but I don't believe Madara at all, what Konan explained about Akatsuki makes sense and Yahiko talking about Akatsuki before using the clouds in their robes. Pain talking about he formed Akatsuki trough Yahiko's body, could be interpreted as him assuming Yahiko's role.
Konan has proven to be really strong and skilled with her own techniques, she just played a hat trick to Madara.
Predictions
I have the awkward sensation that I should wait till other Edited Mangas, as some part of the manga leaves me wanting to confirm the translation we got so far. For sure I'll edit images and part of the review if other translation prove to be better, if not it will stay as it is.
I believe that Madara is going to retreat, but I have the strong feeling that he will obtain was he was looking for, in his current condition is hard for me to believe that he could use MS or EMS techniques, not due how Konan injured him, but due the fact of how he calls himself a shadow/shell of his former self.
