Chapter 460: Sasuke Surrounded
Well, this chapter moves the plot forward a bit, though I don't really have as much to say as I did last time.
Part 1: Kage Meeting Interrupted
Well, Danzou got off easy (for now). Raikage's clearly enraged (although to be fair he seems to be perpetually enraged). It's unclear whether he "kills" Zetsu's clone or not (I'm guessing he did since he doesn't say anything else) on purpose or whether he's so pissed off that he can't control himself. He didn't get around to telling the other Kages about Sasuke being in Akatsuki, though maybe they managed to figure it out on their own (edit: I forgot tsuchikage seems to know too, though he only told his attendants). Either way, they seem to be stuck together for now. Tsuchikage's crack about Raikage being an unruly child is a bit more than just amusing. It also makes me wonder just how the Tsuchikage knew Raikage as a child. I mean, they are from different villages. I'm gonna take a wild guess and assume the current Raikage is somehow connected to the previous one. It would explain why both him and Killerbee are insanely strong, how Tsuchikage might have met him, and how both him and Killerbee ended up in such prestigious positions (jinchuuriki and kage).
Part 2: Sasuke vs a whole bunch of people
Well, I'm guessingKuboKishimoto's really moving things along quickly. First, Sasuke finally, unambiguously kills people. There's been some debate about whether Jay was killed or whether Sasuke himself did it. There's also been some debate about whether Jay's lizard counts. In reality, Sasuke went from anti-hero to villain the second he decided to hunt down and capture Killerbee, and this kill isn't much of a landmark in that respect. It is, however clearly meant to be a landmark for his descent into darkness, not necessarily because he might have been able to just sneak past the samurai, but also because of Karin's sense of his dark chakra, which brings us to the "meat" of this chapter: what is that black thing on page 14?

I've thought of a few possibilities:
1. It's symbolic for Sasuke's reach of an even deeper hatred than before. I think this is the most likely explanation, mainly because it's not around in later pages.
2. It's his third MS technique. An "evil" susanoo. I think this is the most unlikely one as it doesn't stick around and Sasuke doesn't have the MS on anyway.
3. It's symbolic for black Zetsu controlling him. There's a couple of reasons why I think this option is less likely than 1:
* Karin knows what Zetsu's chakra feels like. If he's interfering, she should feel him.
* Sasuke has the sharingan, which has more or less been a very useful genjutsu breaking tool. While it's theoretically possible for Zetsu to circumvent it (especially since we know very little of his abilities), I think it certainly makes it less likely.
On the other hand, the black thing does have Zetsu's flytrap tendrils and the same round eyes (though black zetsu's mouth isn't actually visible).
4. It's the kyuubi. They kyuubi was supposed to manifest when human hatred and malice festered in one place, and Sasuke pretty much owns the copyright to hatred in Naruto. It's possible that with his MS and the descent into hatred, he's subconsciously summoning the other half of the kyuubi from the shiki fuujin. I don't give this theory as much credence as #1 because it's a bit more outlandish, but I won't dismiss it as a possibility. After all, madara had to summon it from somewhere, and judging by his history he's experimented with hatred quite a bit.
And that's that for the black figure. The samurai's abilities are pretty cool (being able to create chakra weapons and throw them), though it looks like they've been reduced to mere fodder. And finally, Raikage and Sasuke meet. Story-wise, Sasuke SHOULD lose so he goes back to Madara to beg for more power, but it could go either way. There are, of course, other alternatives:
* Sasuke kills Raikage and makes Naruto's job really difficult.
* Raikage incapacitates Sasuke and drags him off to be executed. Madara offers to rescue him if he swears absolute devotion. Maybe puts a cursed seal on him so he can kill him with a look if he betrays him again.
About the only thing I'm certain of is that Sasuke's too central to the story to actually die yet. Either way, we should be treated to a decent battle next week.
Oh, and since Juugo's a kid, and the databook said he ate a bunch of people, maybe if Sasuke wins he gets to feast on Raikage's attendants and grow back.
Part 3: Team 7 vs Madara
I don't really expect much new info out of this conversation. Maybe Madara will tell Naruto about the truth behind the Uchiha massacre as Kishimoto seems to be pushing the plot forward and he has to find out about it eventually, though I admit I don't know why Madara would tell him that. Maybe to cause discord within Konoha? Alternately, he's gonna lie his ass off and help add to the mayhem that already exists, in which case I look forward to what story he's trying to spin. I think Madara is there primarily to keep Naruto busy so he doesn't interfere with the fight between Sasuke and the Raikage, though since Sasuke & Co. seem to be within the kage meeting complex and Naruto's out in the wilderness there's little chance of that happening anyway.
Anyway, that's all I've got. Hopefully there's more stuff to analyze next week, although if most of the time is spent with the Sasuke/Raikage fight there probably won't be. See you all then.
