speed racer won't be a total flop imo, it'll do well with the kids and the fanbase (i know i loved it! ), but DBZ is sure to fail.... white dude playing goku= fail, hollywood doing a live action movie of any anime/ asian film= fail, and lastly hironobu kageyama not doing the opening theme= fail. crackers arn't supposed to have anything to do with anime production, what's originally japanese should stay japanese.

what's with them letting hollywood buy dragonball? i mean, dragonball ended like more than a decade ago but they still have merchandise carrying its name. so what's with this movie?

Their targetting the american market so it makes sense for them to use a white-toby-maguire-lookalike, their not after the asian market are they? So why should they use an asian? I mean seriously what is better "pleasing the hardcore DBZ fans but the film becoming a box-office flop" or "the film being a box office success but pissing off DBZ fans". They chose the one which will make more money... and anyway its more likely going to succede with a white guy on the poster than an asian since its should be targetting america...which when the last time i checked was pretty darn white.

and besides if the film does not fail, in the long run it probably will be better for the manga industry...

i just woke up! *cries* i would like to see that DBZ movie. i really liked the anime when i was younger (i havent seen it since i was 17 years old though). i dont know about other places, but i dont think that it will be a huge hit in the states (stupid americans not being into anime like the rest of the world). but thats just me...*sigh*

DBZ would certainly appeal to those non anime fans. even in other countries. just tell them it has bad ass CG and everyone's bound to line up for tickets.

yeah that's why i hate it, they're using a franchise for the pure purpose of profiting, of course idealistic movie lovers like me are appalled at the mention of one of my favorite series to be made into a dreaded production of a movie that will ultimately fail all of my dreamed expectations into making the said motherfucking series into realism bliss. in times like this, my objectivity shuts down by itself. i dont fucking care if they profit or not, just make a RESPECTABLE movie!

ah man but im still gonna watch it and see how it fares....... (ITS GONNA SUCK)

ugh... your talks remind me of THE WORST FILM DIRECTOR OF THE MILLENIUM. There was even a signature campaign to make him stop making movies out of video games. The target is 1 million unique signatures. I'm numbered at 261,000+.
