Re: The Pinoy Hang Out Thread v. 3

+ live an authentic life; in other words, live how you desire to live, for example: if you're working a 9-5 job because you think "you have to", then you're not really "living"
I really like this one. This is one goal that I need to achieve in the later years. But of course being here in the Philippines, you need that 9-5 job that you're compelled to do in order to survive.

@atheism- i wouldn't consider myself an atheist but i do have my doubts with christianity. i do however strongly agree with points 2-5 of what miyi posted... i've been called a cynic a load of times but i just tell them that i'd rather be a cynic than some shmuck that believes things will get better for no apparent reason....
isn't this the basis of telenovelas nowadays?

Re: The Pinoy Hang Out Thread v. 3

i'd really like to, now I'm downloading firefox as we speak to enable the java. I just hope the system allows me to install one.

and about crap-TV, I am already bad mouthing it as it is but I find a small place in my conscience to forgive it every now and then since it's the only entertainment that my mother is enjoying.
EDIT: Crap! I was able to install the program but I'm not able to run it. The admins are blocking my only ENJOYMENT!!!!! AAARGH!!!

Re: The Pinoy Hang Out Thread v. 3

wow! I'm touched! You really are going to read it! :wtf

Thanks so much! You can start wherever you like. I only have 16 articles so far. And I plan to add one maybe later.

And I'll look into your strips once I get home. Apparently there was a major reboot of the systems here that took away my admin privileges on this computer that's why I can't access Firefox. Dammit!

EDIT: Oh Oh! You're DA link may do the trick. what's the link again so that I can comment on them. :amuse

all the more na hindi pwede. kapag nahuli ako at na trace kung saang IP address yung nagpupumilit kumonek sa irc, i'll be saying goodbye to this job before seeing light tomorrow. medyo gusto ko naman magtagal ng konti dito. mahirap kapag entry level palagi.

Re: The Pinoy Hang Out Thread v. 3

You know, I've been wondering for a while, where did the nick level4paperboy came from? just curious?
I mean, most of the people here at MH have anime based nicks and I always wanted know the origin of the nicks of those non-anime based nicks.

@all

maybe you can relate the origins of your nicks here?

Re: The Pinoy Hang Out Thread v. 3

i posted it before! pero alangalang sayo pare sasabihin ko ulit :XD

level4paperboy was my gamespot user status when i first joined stoptazmo (it was my nick in stoptazmo too). i've also plaid and seen the old "paperboy" games for the old nintendo consoles. the name kinda stuck since i "gstalked" the name and no none else was using it, so i decided to keep it for my self! my precious! i'm also called level4paperboy in rotten tomatoes, guild wars, rappelez, and guild wars factions.....my status in gamespot though is no longer l4pb but level11atomicpunk....i like paperboy better!

Re: The Pinoy Hang Out Thread v. 3

a no. actually that's how most people read my nick. they tend to read it as bakashinjisan.

but it actually is bakaSHIJINsan. It's just a concoction I made up from the few Japanese words that I know back then.

baka=stupid
shijin (not shinji)=poet
san=kinda like mister

so with that, I got bakashijinsan which translates to (in my own Japanese-English dictionary) Mister Stupid Poet. Though I doubt that this is correct, it got stuck with me through the years. and it's my universal nick for all forums, memberships and sites that I join.

Re: The Pinoy Hang Out Thread v. 3

lolz! no problem. most people would always say to me: "Adek sa eva o! Pati nick name shinji!" so I'm quite used to it.

But there's no denying tha fact that Eva IS my favorite anime.

Re: The Pinoy Hang Out Thread v. 3

re : eva

OMG! Me too! I watched the movie so many times I forgot count and I watched the series at least 8 times and everytime I did, I fall in love with the series all over again.

and yeah, Shinji's a weakling but you can't really blame him. He's a 14 year old kid who grew without the support of parents.

I got the part of KTS with the penguin and kakashi's head and also the crap man there along with yonie smoking cigar. anything else other than those mentioned

Re: The Pinoy Hang Out Thread v. 3

there are so many ways on how to deal with those anxieties of the youth and one of them is withdrawal from the world, which sub-branches to what you just mentioned: cowardice and angst.

btw, I'm working as an IT support here in ICT. we need to be available 24/7 kaya I'm here working my part of the shift.

Re: The Pinoy Hang Out Thread v. 3

I don't expect to convert people's views or anything, I'm just sharing :D

to elaborate on what I was saying earlier about existentialism:

there are conflicting variations of existentialism, and there isn't really a definitive definition of it...but the one I'm interested in is the idea that in our short human life, we ought to make the best of our lives.

Have you guys read Albert Camus' essay "The Myth of Sysiphus"? (don't worry, I haven't either, but my English Professor has taught it to us), so the gist of the story is, this Greek guy Sysiphus is punished eternally by a God (I forgot the God's name), by pushing a huge boulder up a steep hill...then once he reaches the top, he has to repeat the process all over again, forever.

Then he says that our lives is comparable to Sysiphus, that human life is "absurd", there is no meaning....so how do you go about a meaningless life? --> you find meaning on your own. We have the freedom to do anything, but at the same time, we have to keep in mind that with freedom, we have ethical responsibilities as well, for example, we can't just recklessly take away another person's life even though we won't go to hell for it...the biggest sin, according to Albert Camus, is to take away life, whether it's someone else's, or your own (in the same way, if you don't "live" the way you want, it's the same as taking your own life away).

Even if we have very little choice left to make, like Sisyphus, who is basically in eternal prison, he still manages to find "meaning" in what he does, and therefore he is "happy".

I recommend you guys to read "The Stranger" by Camus, it's beautiful, it's related to "The Myth of Sisyphus"...it's the reason I'm learning this new philosophy.

@level4paperboy: I'm not forgeting about your comic strips, I'll make sure to comment on it whenever I have the chance...it's funny btw :)
