ganda 1st ep grabe...take the premise of gundam wing (with all its royalty, european themes/architecture/wardrobe), have an opening scene reminiscent of gundam seed albeit with better and more up to date animation (one of the best i've seen so far) and have the lead character like with a zechs merquise-like backstory given supernatural powers like light by another rei ayanami, driven by revenge, just plain wow...

what more you can ask for? fan service? la pa ko kitang part e... too bad it's not another gundam franchise....

code geass? di ko siya nagustuhan... it's(wag kayong magalit, opinion ko lang ito) kinda like sunrise to start another gundam-ish series (something more like wing) and then capitulate on its....similarity to the gundam franchise aforementioned.

haha, that's funny... but, they got another season so it might be better for others...even with the rip-off and all...

at partner ng sunrise ung clamp, so that probably explains the wardrobe and the "bishousness" of the characters...

nakuha kong copy, matroska format, needs some tweaking to get the subs on. most flexible format imho, although and lakas gumamit ng resources...

i miss pizza... and pasta too...

One thing is I don't see any similarities between the Gundam Series [Seed + Seed Destiny / Wing ].

You guys are just making excuses to NOT go with the flow :P Anyways, not ALL things with humanoid robots is gundam-ish. o_o Power Rangers has robots, but not gundam-ish! Gundam G is definitely different from the Gundam Series mainstream :P GOLDEN FINGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HA! XD

the coolest robots for me will be the gundam seed models tho. and dont forget macross! wow, that series really laid the foundation for modern anime stories... makes me wanna cry remembering it...

^my fav mecha's always been Evas. then Guymelefs.... di ako mahilig masyado sa mga overpowered na mech (e.g. freedome, justice, and epsilon).

anyways, i think power rangers count as sentai since it's live-action (or does it have an anime equivalent?) with 5 members piloting their own ships that becomes a robot. mecha is for anime, imho, with the same robots premise thingie...

re: ripoff
i thought bleach is a rip-off of yu yu hakusho and kenshin, with spirits and slashing and all. but in the end, once it generates enough fanbase, they tend to have a separate identity and forgot that it might have been thought of as a rip-off before.

since code geiss is somewhat new, (4th Q 2006), it's still stigmatized as a gundam franchise rip-off. and it has more similarities with the franchise than bleach has with YYH.

too bad it was also ripped-off "literally" as robotech...and chopped down and tossed like salad with other mechas... by our beloved anime adapters from the us as usual.... ...for better storyline and "taming" for their younger audiences... the dogs! brutes! any anime adapted to US tastes either ends up in adult swim or toonami with heavy editing! with few exceptions and they are rare! sorry, getting too far carried away...
anyone thinks robotech was any good?

oh, those kind of mechas...escaflowne? they are rather animated differently, somewhat more "slim/feminine" than the gundam ones... code geass has the same style though... like guymelefs on skates...

hm.... to not go with the flow is better than to be carried away in the flood....(san ko ba nabasa yun?) Anyways, kaya siguro hindi mo nakikita ang similarities e dahil engrossed ka na sa 'engaging storyline' niya.

btw, yung 'special abilities' ni 'zero' e reminiscent of sharingan, diba? eye-contact mental manipulation is genjutsu...

o nga pala, i know this is totally off-topic and i should discuss it in some other forum, pero i've come to the conclusion that tobi(akatsuki) is in reality obito!! note the hair, the 'eye' (missing his left), the childish attitude somewhat like naruto, and the name. come on, tobi is just an anagram of obito in kanji...

back to the topic, what ddadain's saying that not all humanoid robots are gundam-ish is true. in fact, all humanoid robots are reminiscent of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonardo%27s_robot. wala nang mas tatanda pa jan...

oh yeah, how could i foget the evas? damn those beasts are wicked. anybody plays here SUPER ROBOT WARS? im an obsessive fan of that series, kept playing it even if i couldnt understand jap . so far i've completed only two japanese titles and three english ones (one is translated freelance, two are original creations outside license troubles)

@KTS: i bought out a piratedvd the other month, titled macross. turned out it was teh stupid sequel US style that spoiled everything. damn you all...

you know, gundam seed is so closely a ripoff to macross. i mean lacus, look at her, and lynn, she was a star and a major force in the war, and here's a nobody pilot (kira and hkaru) that turned out to be the heroes in the end that made out with the socially highest girls i've mentioned, i mean cmon, it's so close! but gundam seed just made it so moderny, and seed is still my favorite gundam series, cause original or not, it still rocks!

and yeah, aside from yu yu hakusho and bleach, has anyone noticed how close sakuragi and rukawa are to naruto and sasuke?

dati nilalaro ko lang na mga title eh yung may SRX, GW timeline (astig kasi sila). ngayon paborito ko na ang SRW:OG series (coincidentally, faithful ang story ng anime sa game) lalo na yung gesphenst Mk III v.2 - better known as ano, yonie?

gundam seed is ACTUALLY based off MS gundam. they created that b*****d kira yamato as a 2nd generation amuro ray. more notably, impulse gundam is a hybrid of MS gundam(core) and strike gundam(weaponry). even the zakus, dragoons, mass-produced GMs, etc. are used.

you'll notice na ayaw ko talaga kay kira, which is true. a man with no weaknesses is a god, and kira is a poor excuse of creating a 'god-like' pilot in the whole gundam franchise.

oh yeah!!! char is the best antagonist in the whole gundam franchise! pinagmukha niyang si amuro talaga ang kalaban nung napanood ko ang char's counterattack!!
