ako naman napunta sa homeboy nung 'mapili' yung center namin na maging studio audience.... the show totally sucks. they say it's live, but they start shooting at 12pm - 1am.... buti na nga lang at napunta kami sa wednesday episode... nagsimula yung shoot ng 10pm at natapos ng 11:30pm... tapos yung pagkain na ibibigay e:

ulam: adobo - 2 subo, isang maliit na laman at isang puro taba
kanin: 3-5 kutsara, depende kung nabali mo yung kutsara mo sa 2nd try mo

nasa october last year pa yun eh.... lam ko nasa youtube pa.... kitang-kita nga ako dun...

anyways punta ba kayo? opening time is 1pm, kala ko 10am....

I just heard from a colleague of mine, that in Finland, they banned smoking in bars, restaurants, and clubs...

what do you guys think about the anti-smoking campaign? Isn't it Jim Crow laws all over again?

I think it should be up to the business owner, not government, to decide whether to accomodate the smoker or the nonsmoker (or both).

It's bad enough that smokers are relegated to smoke in smoke-designated areas only. Sometimes you'd have to literally go at the back of the building, and outside, just to smoke.

I think it's absurd, and this whole second hand smoke bandwagon is blown out of proportion...it's not like smokers (at least most of them), intentionally chooses to endanger and contaminate the lungs of all nonsmokers. Isn't it routine to ask, before taking out your smoke, if "you guys mind if I smoke?" Obviously if the answer is yes, then we will put away the smoke.

So I don't understand why there is any complaint at all.

I think it is imposing on the personal freedoms of the individual, and it is discriminatory. Smoking is a personal lifestyle choice. Why should we give it up just because you don't like it? Breathe in a smoke free area, and deal with it. Stop your whining.

What are your thoughts?

Honestly, I don't know. My sister visited the Philippines about 4 months ago, and she took the picture. I asked her and she forgot where she took it from.

as much as i "support" smoking , dude i also feel for the ones that get affected by second hand. its always known that secondhand smoke is more damaging than smoking one. so i think were on the immoral side here, but its only in bars and restos, wait a minute, BARS TOO???? well anyway we're not completely choked here in the phils right? hehehe (bars??? how can you not do that???)

oh, they did a study that showed second hand smoke does not cause lung cancer. It was, however, witheld from publication.

Fact: On March 8, 1998, the British newspaper The Telegraph reported "The world's leading health organization has withheld from publication a study which shows that not only might there be no link between passive smoking and lung cancer but that it could have even a protective effect."

AFAIK, there are also some places here in the Philippines who ban smoking in most public spaces. Actually, in Makati, there's an ordinance that in ANY roofed public establishments, smoking is prohibited. Not just restos and bars. Heck, even the underpasses in Ayala Ave is a haven for non-smokers.

That's a Save the Date picture, (if you don't know what it is, it's a wedding's pre-invitational ad, just to inform people to leave this date free so they can attend the wedding) of my sister and her fiancee. I just finished the image, but she's sleeping so that's still subject to approval. Hope she approves it though, i spent a lotta time doing it...

USt is also a smoke free campus. and what's surprising is that on it's first try to keep it smoke free, the students and the faculty complied with it. Now i believe it's been like that for more than 5 years. There are some instances of smoking but very negligible compared to the population who complies. Those caught smoking on campus were sanctioned hard!

@ the smoking issue:

a lot of cases of people with cancer (lung cancer) are usually non-smokers, the cause being the secondhand smoke.

sa USTe naman, paglabas mo pa lang ng campus, mas matindi pa ata ung tambutso ng mga sasakyan kesa kahit anong second hand smoke....
that's why i think i prefer QC U-belt kesa Manila U-belt....less congested at mas "closer to nature" .... and no, colayco park does not count....
buti na lng considerate ung school namen at that time to actually put smoker's pocket gardens na mga 3 sq meters with concrete benches and landscaping! where smokers were "restricted" to smoke....never tried it kc i quit "voluntarily abstained indefinitely" by then....
dunno kung ganuun pa rin ngaun....

oops, I misread the article...actually, the study showed inconclusive evidence that passive smoking causes lung cancer...

The study was conducted properly...but maybe more studies need to be done. I guess passive smoking is a health risk, but not as bad as people make it out to be. Perhaps the air pollution caused by gasoline smoke primarily contributes to lung cancer risk, more so than cigarette smoke itself. Who knows?

Ok I'm not an expert, I'll let the researchers conduct more research. For now, at least, don't ban public smoking entirely.[/rant]
