well abs-cbn did NOT rip DB...AFAIK. that youtube clip was poorly edited and was at least meant to "smear" ABS-CBN or DB or maybe both. DB just overreacted, IMHO.

but mind you, nakatatak pa rin sa mind ko when ABS-CBN/HEROTV actually RIPPED AnimeOne's fansub of a Naruto episode, (54 if memory serves me right) when Naruto was learning the summoning technique. I ran out of expletives when I saw it. Come on, showing a poorly resized fansub (as in kita mo ung meron pang black borers and subtitles!!!!!) and dubbing it over and showing everything including the usual fansub credits and disclaimer? WTF has happened?!?!?!

not sure if they're showing it on reruns...

majority of anime watchers in phils are small children, or geeky teenagers with limited internet experience, so they're oblivious to these fansub thingies actually. only us "advanced" people know the existence of these

Man, my "parlor" design thesis has taken me to issues on gender equality, women and the politics of beauty, those kinds of social and psych crap it's driving me nuts. 0.0 And it's got me thinking about myself too and how i perceive myself.

The issue really is with us FILIPINOS LOVING OURSELVES but then there's this issue with the Filipinos where they tend to practice super laid back apathy especially when it doesn't affect them directly. It has been ongoing for several hundred years and we can't just erase several hundred years of a sad culture. Takte! We wouldn't have been colonized if we hadn't been all like "a-ok-lang-sakupin-mo-kami-kase-wala-kaming-kaalamalam-at-wala-kaming-pinanghahawakan-na-kultura" kind of thinking. I mean just look at what our ancestors did to Magellan. They welcomed him and had themselves baptized. For (their) God's sake! They had their own beliefs back then. Why haven't they held firmly onto that?
Sure we've got moments where incipient changes in the Filipino ways would be seen but as MD said, we also have this issue with letting things pass by. We're too passive. It's because of the Spanish influence and because of our religion. I know being in UP made you very vocal and expressive. It applies differently in other schools especially those run by priests. You can never say anything bad about the administration either by writing or by vehement speech. There's a myriad of things that WE WANT changed but ADMIN would leave us sprawling on the ground groping for help once we express ourselves. There was one time when our previous editor wrote something against the admin and soon after that, we found our organization begging for our RIGHTFUL fund.
What's my point here? If they want to progress, why not let the people (or in our case back then, students) speak for themselves and HEAR THEM OUT! In my opinion, have the children practice their rights at an early stage so that when they go out into the corporate world, they can say what they have in mind. If you would be applying for jobs in the future (I don't know if you'll get this since you're not a Thomasian) employers would always say UP grads, La Sallians and Ateneans are expressive employees, whereas Thomasians tend to be timid and quiet. WHY? I think they should ask the admin regarding that.

We all want to love ourselves but a large fraction of the society is not helping. We're all being dragged down. What more with government always corrupting everything. You'd think a new change in the government would bring about change, HA! It's a joke. It's not really an issue on how make new investors or how to increase the funds. JUST STOP YOUR F*CKING CORRUPTION! Stupid politicians could never imagine what it's like to pay taxes and all they do to solve problems is to increase tax.
As you said BBSAI, it's already 400 years and we're tired.

you have to read the light novels bakashi. the anime is a little different, but that's to be expected from any adaptation right? the light novels have deeper storylines and kyon's narratives are much more better. i've read the manga, watched the anime, and still the light novel is the best! this series is absolutely funny

- whoa! easy now... very well said. funny thing is that i used to rant that way before, until i realized something. people change, people always f*cking change. and its always the same thing. i maybe talking about change, but its not for the better. back in high school, then college. its always the same goddamn thing. sad truth is.. filipinos have a VERY strong affinity to the human nature of GREED. i was raised with the mindset that those who has the moral responsibility to take action MUST do so. ever since i hit high school, its been constantly challenged. its like your 10-inch concrete wall, slowly and steadily hammered by a big f*cking sledgehammer. it could have been eased out a little bit but most of the time you're on your own. you try to give it all you've got, trying to make a difference even just a little tiny bit, but, you're still on your own. i know im negative on this. cant blame me. been there, done that.

naglalaro din ako ng poker, paminsan minsan. But I've never gotten beyond chips. hehe.

Red dog is like in-betweens. You are given 4 cards, and you have to bet that the 5th card should have the same suit as any of your cards, and it should be smaller than that same suit in your hand. If it doesn't match a suit from your hand in the first place, you lose too.
Example, I get A hearts, A spades, Q clover, and 2 hearts. If my 5th card is K clover I lose. If it's hearts I win coz I got an A of the same suit. If it turns out to be diamonds, I lose.

@bbsai: no no the release above is a MANGA, the torrent i gave are ebooks, light novels ika nga. the first book is called the melancholy of suzumiya haruhi, and the manga release above is about half or more of the novel. i recommend the light novels instead. the manga is a bit off, the anime is great but still nothing beats the original novel

I didn't find haruhi that appealing when I watched it so I was thinking, what's the fuss?
Maybe it's because of the novel. I'll be taking your word for it yonie!


And speaking of novels, you should definitely get a copy of Battle Royale (the novel)! Especially when you still haven't read the manga nor watched the movie. It's one hell of a book! Too vivid, it'll send out chills to your bones.
I think I've said it here or in another thread but I was just sorry that I watched the damn movie. That movie wasn't even close to the novel.

guys do you have any idea about that "wowowee scam"? I don't know zit about it and can't follow perfectly sa youtube. From what I gather, willie made a mistake in the game that apparently had some loopholes. I don't know where Joey de leon comes in the picture, but the next chronological thing I can find is willie talking about joey, and the next video is joey talking about willie... ahaha labo.
