i never really liked the idea of notebooks. for me, there's nothing better than a desktop pc. the way i view notebooks is, they're the "portable consoles" of PCs, like psp is the portable console of ps3.

la naman akong masasabi tungkol sa laptop................. except DONT USE VISTA BUNDLED ONES. really. really. vista sucks right now, so many bugs and annoying shit going on, just use XP sp2. its better than vista with no sp.

if you really want to buy, just buy it according to your needs that's all. if you're a gamer, or a media guy.... maybe for general purposes just buy one that has high memory (both). choosing memory is more efficient than the processor. and DELL rocks too, if you want, get it

as for laptops, dunno if you already found some but this might help anyways ...
