Post wano the marines will realize kaido has lost and send a buster call to wano to capture it. Luffy will spend a few days to 1 month defending from the marines buster call. The marines will give up and raise Luffy's bounty to 4.5-5bil berries from defeating kaido and preventing them from capturing wano cementing his place as an emperor of the sea. The marines will get a full view of his crews capabillties and they're bounties will also be heavily raised to reflect an emperor's crew, all being over 300k.

the gorosei will meet and dicuss 'the next pirate king'.

A siege defending story could be interesting like the battle of Sai in Kingdom or the battle of Helm Deep in LOTR. However, we already stay in this location for hundred of chapters already. Staying for an additional month just killed the momentum. And we probably will got scenery fatigue sooner rather than later.

Luffy already took Fishman island "under his wing", so he already has one country allied to him. Would be great to see Wano also an allied country for Luffy

Hopefully the Strawhat Grand fleet shows up too. Would make no sense if the leftover and worn out rebel alliance manage to defend Wano against Marines as well

This can very likely happen but probably like you guys say' offscreen. I think we may get 1 or 2 chapters of this so it is not all offscreened but CP0's orders are clear. Capture Nico Robin at all costs and a fleet of gov ships will annex Wano. That is different than letting Wano join the world gov. It basically mean they will absorb Wano into their existing territory and they will not be a sovereign nation.
That goes against the whole ideal of opening up the country of Wano especially now they will be subjugated by another group of people (world gov). So I can definitely see a seige of sorts happening buuuut at the same time, the waters around Wano are rough and likely a seige won't last long as the sea will have other plans for those who are out there. The sea around Wano will be a seige unto itself for the world gov ships.

I agree, Kaido meeting his defeat because of Luffy's alliance with Kidd and Law will make himself and his crew a prime target by the World Government. If Big Mom falls as well, then it's possible that having two Pirate emperors defeated will send waves to other pirates and put the Worst Generation in a new light over the seas.
