Are you using Internet Explorer by any chance? IE is known to cause some errors on websites (not just MH). And MH is not optimized for IE in the first place, I suggest you switch to other browsers. We recommend Firefox, but other browsers such as the Google Chrome or Opera should work fine.

When you request a new password, you have to click the link within a time limit (usually 24 hours).

If you requested the password re-send a month ago and clicked the link just now, it is indeed expired. Simply request it again and make sure to click the link when the email comes in :)

Can you tell us here when you're back on the old account? We have to delete the new one because members are only allowed to have just one account.

Whenever I view the manga download pages on FireFox everything appears centered instead of left aligned. At first I thought it was a new site design, but when I viewed it in IE it was left aligned once again. So is there a way for me to fix this problem in my FF browser?
Here's a screen shot of what's happening:

easy: disable adblock on MH or find a better adblocking rule ;)

Ah, thanks, actually I didn't have to disable the entire adblock. Somewhere today I accidentally blocked the script that aligns the text on MH.

Is there something going on with the "Meet the Translators" section? All of a sudden, I can't reply to any of the threads in it.

Thanks, didn't know. Guess we need a bit more warning when that sort of thing happens.

It's back to normal but with new structure under Manga Works.

Warning, yeah. The problem was that this was a spontaneous thing bound to the availability of some staff members and the timing was just right. It was also very quickly over (we still have to work in the section over this week).

I'm sure nobody gets a heart attack when some threads ain't available for a few hours :p

Hello,

I've been mostly just frequenting the Tsubasa and xxxHolic forums since those series demand much deep discussion. It was great to find a dedicated forum where us fans could pour our hearts out and share our wild theories about these unpredictable stories.

However, it's come to ALL of our attention lately, that one or some mod(s) have been rather greedily devouring a LOT of posts. It's like Cowslip's Warren in Watership Down; you wake up and eventually notice that someone new is missing today. And I suppose we're supposed to shrug it off and go fetch more vegetables like normal.

We get no warning, no reason as to why our posts are being taken down... and worst of all, whenever we post "I wonder where that went" or "isn't this strict?", those are taken down too. Silenced instead of answered.

It's getting to the point where many of us are afraid to speak up and speak our mind in a forum that is meant for, you know, speaking your mind. I admit, sometimes we do go on a tangent. But we then bring things back around, and it happens in discussions. Most forums are WAY more random than this one. And there's so few posts left too. For as long as it's been around, so many threads have been merged by mods that it's hard to keep track anymore, so they're all a bundled up mess, far worse than our little discussion tangents would have made them on their own anyway.

Threads are there for a reason, to keep discussions organized. I suggest not merging so many, and encouraging (or facilitating) the creation of new threads should certain subjects keep popping up where they don't belong. I might make one myself. I think others would have by now, but have become too frightened of deletion by the heavy-handed-whoever currently running amok to do so themselves.

To some it seems like just obsessive organization, wanting to keep the forums to 2 pages or less of material no matter how many pages it WOULD have on any other forum. Or, to others, it seems like someone loves their excessive powers to silence anyone they want to. I'd love to see both of these suspicions lifted and feel free to have open discussions on an open discussion forum again.

Thank you.

'ello :amuse

However, it's come to ALL of our attention lately, that one or some mod(s) have been rather greedily devouring a LOT of posts.
I checked on your past deleted posts and the discussion around it and those were all deleted because they were either agony posts or simply offtopic.

The moderator in question could have posted a note/reminder into the thread for sure but we usually don't notify anymore on such deletions. They should be obvious.

and worst of all, whenever we post "I wonder where that went" or "isn't this strict?", those are taken down too. Silenced instead of answered.
This simply falls under 'offtopic' and as such gets deleted. Questions on mod actions or general forums issues belong into the respective section (Site Questions/Comments/Complaints) or should be send via PM to a global moderator or admin. They have nothing to do with the discussion.

We don't silence you, we just want you to carry the complains into the correct areas. A TRC chapter thread is about the TRC chapter content and not about why which mod did whatever to which member.

I'd love to see both of these suspicions lifted and feel free to have open discussions on an open discussion forum again.
I'm not active in TRC at the moment, so I can't judge on any mod actions there lately. Maybe giving a concrete example of two wrongly merged topics would help us to clarify the matter?

Usually we merge only same or very similar topics together, so I don't really see where the complain is coming from without an example.

The only bigger merging I know off recently was to merge all old chapter discussion threads together which was a decision to keep the section tidy. I can't see anything wrong with that, so I assume that you talk about topic-bound threads.

Cheers ZaCloud! Thanks for speakling up. I've been finding the moderating on the TRC threads heavy handed and intrusive as well.

The worst case of moderator interference was when a series of separate topic discussion (221 discussion/222 prediction and somthing along the lines of 221 Confession/confession for reals but I can't remember the exact names) threads were put into the main chapter discussion thread. They totally broke up the flow of both threads (which had developed in quite different directions) and confused me terribly.

Also, the definition of 'on topic' seems somewhat inconsistent. In one thread we segwayed off into discussing Horitsuba and fanfic and it was left untouched. In another, a little aside comparing Syaoran and Sakura to Darcy and Elizabeth was completely axed.

Hi ^^

Thanks for voicing your concerns. I've looked into your concerns, and for the mergings, all I can find are that some of the older discussions threads were merged into 1 "Old Discussion" thread and usually happens every so often to keep the boards from getting overrun by past chapter discussion threads.

Posts being deleted, are differences in the moderating styles of our moderators that are reviewing and moderating the forums. I've looked through a number of deleted posts and they would all be considered into off-topicism and therefore were deleted. However, some of our moderators are a little more lenient on these than others so some of these are let go by some of our more lenient staff. But all in all, I can't see where any of the moderators have taken it too far.

Thanks for posting and voicing your concerns. And if you feel that there's something that was taken too far, please feel free to post again with a specific example.

Thanks for the replies. In my opinion, I don't see how it's "cluttered" to have separate discussion threads for each chapter. The story's nearly complete, after all, so what would be so bad about having them all separate? Especially for people who find this site years from now? They'll be able to have clean references for each chapter divided nicely.

Having less topics doesn't necessarily make it more organized. For example, sure you see a lot of drawers on your dresser, but it doesn't make your head spin; you know by the labels which drawer holds pants, which one shirts, etc. But here, you're throwing ALL the clothes into one big pile. And now we have to dig through the whole thing to find bits and pieces of what we want.

So I just find it a bit hypocritical to find going slightly (but nowhere near completely) off-topic as being disorganized, but then merging every single chapter discussion into one impossible-to-search-through messy pile, as being organized.

I made a mega-convo thread for Tsubasa, the same as is in the xxxHolic forum. How about, if a post goes off-topic, the mods can move it there instead of deleting it altogether? And hopefully, in turn, all of us users can try to be more responsible and post there instead when conversations shift. So both parties can improve in that regard.

Like I said, I think we all would have tried something like that sooner, but I was hoping the mods would come up with the idea first, instead of cowing us with mass deletions and making us afraid to try something like that. But the thread's still there so that's a good sign. We'll see how it goes, okie?

I need to overrun some of your statements due to time issues on my part, sorry ._.

From our experience, small sections die fast after the series ends that's why we merge the complete section into one big thread a while after we see that the discussions have come to a stop (usually 1-3 months after the series ended). Most people just don't look into single chapters threads anymore after a while.

Unless there was some kind of sequel, those series aren't discussed much anymore and for an occasional discussion, it doesn't need separate threads. I can point you to several former-sections threads which were merged because the section became inactive. And yes, it was just as active as TRC is right now before.

You have to see that MH is a very wide spread community focused on 'active Edited Mangas' and not on fandom. We're not specialized on a certain series but on making manga available, so when a series has ended most members tend to move on very fast to something ongoing and the remaining 'die hard' fans fall silent after a while because the general interest on the series has completely died.

That is simply MH's special field and we work according to that. It differs from usual 'fan forums' and therefor certainly causes the complains you raise. But discussion sections at MH are a support for the Edited Manga work in the first place and when these Edited Mangas have ended, the discussions naturally come to an end as well. I hope I could clarify our reasoning a little?

But here, you're throwing ALL the clothes into one big pile. And now we have to dig through the whole thing to find bits and pieces of what we want.
Well, what do you search in old chapter threads? If you want to discuss some older happening in the manga, you can us the merged thread or a general discussion thread for this without being focused on a chapter number. That's an improvement in my eyes, to be honest. Separate threads are only interesting during the 'hot' phase when a chapter is fresh and gets actively discussed. Older threads vanish onto the forums bottom anyways. It's very rare that someone bumps them up and answering on a months old discussion isn't really effective. Better start a fresh topic.

I don't really see the loss here. In fact, I support doing this for all sections with not-so-big chapter discussion threads equally for the above reasons on why a finished series has generally no long lived future at MH. The mere reason for separate chapter discussion threads lies also in MH's nature: it's bound to support the active Edited Mangas.

Like I said, I think we all would have tried something like that sooner, but I was hoping the mods would come up with the idea first, instead of cowing us with mass deletions and making us afraid to try something like that. But the thread's still there so that's a good sign. We'll see how it goes, okie?
We're not having a fixed TRC mod at the moment. Other moderators take shifts in the sections, so to say. Which means that the current situation is mainly caused because the moderators who look over TRC are not having it as their main section and therefor do not look as deep into the possible improvement for TRC as it could be.

That's why, as you do right now, raising your voice and calling out for the mods is the best you can do. MH itself has grown a lot faster than the mod staff and we're having a hard time at the moment to catch up. TRC is not the only section that has fallen into the shadows a little but it's not on purpose and we're very glad when you point issues out to us.

We'll make sure to let the mods in charge know to inform you on when they delete or merge something. At least a note in the thread why something vanished but that doesn't mean that spam and offtopic gets tolerated. We usually have 'Hangout' threads in the series sections for being a bit more chatty but I just see that TRC is lacking one, hrrm. I'll sticky your Mega-Convo and will post something there as well to let everyone know, okay?

I don't follow TRC at all, but I do know that there are currently more than 220 chapters. in the series, even if they are clearly label, can you imagine what having 220+ threads on each chapter would be like? Plus after a while, these threads do not get posted in and rarely reviewed. While there may be a few people that unfortunately get inconvenienced, the majority of the people do not even notice. And it makes sense to us to merge them and save space and clean up the forum. (Server space as well since we don't have an unlimited quantity of that either).

A mega-convo thread is always welcome as long as it doesn't turn into spamming. :) Our moderators work hard with what time they have and do their best. We have never shown any intolerance against convo threads, or even hang-out threads as long as the posting doesn't turn into spamming. And "mass deletions" is a bit of an exaggeration wouldn't you say? ^^ As I said earlier, there are some mods who are stricter on the off-topicism, but all the posts I reviewed that were deleted, were deleted because it was irrelevant to the conversation and for no other reason. We do not run our site on a dictatorship, but we have rules and moderators who enforce them. You're comments and concerns are always welcome, but there is a place for it and it does not belong in a manga discussion thread. Thanks for contributing your input.

I see. It sounds like the user concepts of what the TRC threads are for and the moderator concepts are a little bit different.
