Is there a difference in the manga scans if their either JPG or PNG?? I can't really tell the difference between the two, except for the fact that PNG takes up more room

*moved to the general Edited Mangas questions

I believe that png is better especially with colored pics because png and jpg are compressed differently.

PNG is the best format to save HQ Edited Mangas in due to its compression. Check the link in my sig to figure out how to get optimum file size using PNGs. They really are much better than JPEGs.

for your guide, why do you use 32 colors ? 16 should be the most you need because i dont think there are that many greys in most scans

You would be correct. However the grey pattern given to me by the french people requires 32 colors >.>. pzero made a post in the thread lower down that links to better patterns for which you can go down to 16 and even lower.

They don't look different, and that's the good part. What's different is the file-size, and smaller file-size without reduction in quality = the goal.

but for just viewing purposes wouldnt jpeg be better than if there is no quality difference and being a smaller file?

it really depends on the manga. I have had to up it for fullswing and my newer releases of tough because of the greys in it. I use 20 to be safe
