Sorry if I've come off a bit too strong but I strongly disagree with what you're claiming. I believe Irene's character to be a good one, and I gave my reasons why. I just didn't see anything in-depth from you about it, just calling her "run of the mill" which is why I asked if you could explain your stance on it more.

My standards are the point here. I like characters who are endearing or bring up some kind of feeling or emotion from me. I don't get any of that from Irene. I just don't care about her. Whether she lives or dies. I also like characters who have consequence. Irene was one of the most formidable mages alive, but in the end she helped Ishgar, and achieved little besides some backstory.
