Yes the demon king's butthole. It's like the dark side of the moon.
THIS!!!
This cracked me up so much :XD
I have to agree with you on the escanor vs Estarossa fight as well. I too, did not want to overhype Escanor before the fight because before that, all we had seen Estarossa do was blow up a bird. Then he basically soloed Meliodas and executed him, which was the most defining feat of his character up to that point, before finally bumping into Escanor a month later. I'd say that when he beat Meliodas, we actually saw him as a very strong character and potential match for Escanor and that is why most people would have assumed draw or one wins, but, only marginally. I was the same as you though, because that little fanboy inside of me was all for Escanor winning that fight from the get go... but, then Estarossa stomped on his Pride and he felt the true power of the sun.
The funniest thing about that fight, is that Zeldris also got hit by the blast trying to save Estarossa from what seemed like his inevitable death... but, both their commandments were still activated back at Liones after they blew up. So... i'm assuming that Estarossa and Zeldris are still alive for the time being, but, Estarossa's gonna be traumatized!
Actually... your profile pic, in all it's brilliance, is a perfect representation as to how that fight went :XD
So yeah... i do hope Escanor gets beaten at some stage, but, i hope it's by the Demon King!

But... it does make me wonder... how strong are Estarossa and Escanor in terms of Pl right now and more importantly what does Esky's power level max out at? If it's something ridiculous like 75K, that's pretty damn high!

I think deep down it should have been expected that escanor would wipe the floor with estarossa. I think everyone here can agree that estarossa's godly hype and character got ruined when he opened his mouth in chapter 176. And regarding their power levels,if i were to
go by escanor's pl increasing by 5 with every passing second, then.

If during his battle with galan, his pl was around 50,000,I'd say the time was around 9 a.m and when he arrived to confront estarossa in liones, the time was 10 a.m. If his pl increases by 18,000 everyhour, then when he arrived at liones his pl should have been between 68,000-72,000. Since estarossa was more or less equal/superior to escanor, until it hit 11am. I'd estimate his pl to be around,70,000-75000.

And for escanor when it reached 11 and noon was approaching,i'd estimate his power level to have gone up to between 88000 and 90000.
If his escanors Pl still increases at the same rate, then his peak power level should be around 100,000-108,000

I can see that.
Funny thing is I was more than half asleep when I wrote it. :XD

Call it sleep deprivation, although I'm known for those racey comments.:3c

Actually more than that, it's not impossible to think that Escanor's PL at noon can reach or exceed the 100k mark, based on how easily he defeated Estarossa and could have also possibly blasted Zeldris with him. In before I thought it was unrealistic, but now not anymore. Also when Mel and the others were counting their power, and comparing it to the demons ,they theorized that the TCs had more 300k, while the sins and their allies without Escanor and without Mel getting all his power made a total of 150k.So even assuming those numbers aren't accurate (which they're not) Escanor all by himself could amount to 100k, since Mel got roughly 30k worth of power.
I think it's more than likely that Escanor in his peak could reach the 100k mark.

I would still make the point that at least to an extent the time of the day is irrelevant to escanor. We have seen escanor fight 3 times. Against izraf, at sunrise, against galan, at some point in the morning, and estarosa at 11:30. When he fought izrad he got angry and melted the castly away. His power ran wild at the time of the day where he is at his weakest. Then against galan he did not run wild but he did have to retreat due to being close to noon. Odds are that him retreating was also related to him fighting at all. And finally estarosa whom he fought a full half hour before noon. And because he exerted himself he lost control over his power. So the thing is, there are two factors that determine escanor's power at any given point. The hour is a factor but perhaps even more important is how hard he is trying to fight and even his emotional state. His emotional state is likely even more important than the actual time of the day considering that even if its early he can summon more power by merely exerting himself harder. Odds are that we have seen nothing that even approaches escanor's full power. I wouldn't rule out him being able to summon even more power than he used now at sunrise or even towards the end of the day (of course, at sunset he becomes powerless). Escanor is an embodiment of the sun, the sun goes does give a fuck about the time of the day in the end. What does the time of the day mean for a sun hundreds of thousands times bigger than the earth?

I don't think so. Only The time of the day is relevant to escanor's power level and not his emotional state. The deal with escanor is that, since he's like a walking sun,he tries his best to suppress the heat energy that releases from his body, rhitta even helps with that,by absorbing the heat energy, now. For him to do that he needs to remain perfectly calm and not exert himself too much or get excited,if he doesn't, he won't be able to control the heat radiating from his body and his sunshine would be too much for his st to absorb.

As seen when he got annoyed with izraf and when he exerted himself too much against estarossa,he wasn't able to suppress his magic. That's what he does everyday, suppress his magic. IF he doesn't do that i'm sure that the whole surface of brittania would have been scorched by now. That's escanor for you. It had already been explained that his power rises along with the sun,he simply can't just boost his power when he wants, what he does is suppress it so everything else isn't burned to a crisp.

No, he could possibly be able to if nakaba wants it to work like that.

Suppressing and limiting his use of magic consciously, and allowing rhitta to drain him all the time, could lower his PL to 50k-ish.

You can argue that his sudden power up was him letting all his magic out freely for once instead of fighting against it. Allowing him to oneshot Estarossa.

Or you can argue that he beefed up because it was late morning.

The first answer could also explain his izraf battle, rather than hours passing by until it was late morning. Nobody was around anyway, and izraf made him mad so he wasn't trying to suppress it, which explains why he was vaporizing a guy with a 5k power level by standing next to him. That didn't happen to the sins, or Merlin when she arrived, or gowther/Gil. Because he's suppressing it now.

Or it could be a inconsistency. Nakaba isn't perfect.

Rhitta's only function is to drain and store Escanor's power.

So he could be stronger without it.

We see that once he got serious he stopped using rhitta as a weapon, and was using his own magic power.

I wouldn't completly dismiss kkck's analysis. Escanor could be quiet a bit above 50k before noon without it being a asspull, and still sticking to what we know about sunshine, and rhitta.

Well, I wouldn't go as far as saying that rhitta could be a drag on his powers. It is an extremely powerful weapon, just its weight alone makes it utterly insane. Rhita does seem to have the function to help escanor maintain some measure of control over his power but we also have to consider his confrontation with dolor and gloxinia. The weapon stores power which can be later used by escanor. So on top of what I have suggested at this point (that escanor could basically power up however much he wants by merely not holding back at any time of the day) he could on top o that release rhita and use that power.

Nope, nakaba already explained how it works.

Suppressing and limiting his use of magic consciously, and allowing rhitta to drain him all the time, could lower his PL to 50k-ish.
You don't get it. He isn't limiting his magic power and rhitta isn't draning his magic. Escanor is just supressing the heat emanciating from his body, his magic power still remains the same. Rhitta too does the same,it absorbs escanor's body heat and not his magis power, two different but related things .

You can argue that his sudden power up was him letting all his magic out freely for once instead of fighting against it. Allowing him to oneshot Estarossa.
Nope, that was his magic power increasing, him not suppressing his body wouldn't have made him able to oneshot Estarossa and zeldoris. It was very clear his power level increased.

Or you can argue that he beefed up because it was late morning.
This is correct.

Haven't I explained this? Escanor now has better control of his magic than 10 years ago. Escanor during the day releases heat energy so strong that it would vaporize anything. Escanor suppress the heat by being perfectly calm and still,if he displays emotions, like anger, excitement or he exerts himself,he begins to release his heat energy and as seen in his battle with estarossa if he exerts himself too much, the heat energy he releases become so high and large that he would no longer be able to contain it,same applies to his sacred treasure.

I also think that when it approaches noon, even if he is still remains perfectly calm and still,he will still release his solar energy but it's at a level his sacred treasure can contain. This would explain why he left ban and the others.

Rhitta's only function is to drain and store Escanor's power.

So he could be stronger without it.
It's function is too store Escanor's solar energy,he wouldn't be stronger without it but may potentially be more dangerous than ever with it. If there's no rhitta to absorb his heat energy,he'd just be reducing everything around him to nothing.

we know what is stored in rhitta is just heat and not magic and as previously seen, just that heat is powerful enough to kill two commandments and killed izraf, and that's just casual heat from escy and we know that the heat could get even waaayyy stronger than that, that his st can't contain if escanor gets into it too much.

Now just imagine,if escanor getting too excited in fighting estarossa could make his heat energy so strong that his sacred treasure couldn't contain it (the same st that contained heat which could end the life of a commandment.
What if merlin now died in the arms of escanor?lol,Brittainia go boom, boom.

He still used his s/t after that, using magic then was the sensible option. I hope you get it now. Escanor power level and heat energy are not the same. It's his power level that increases as time goes and it's his heat energy that's contained by rhitta and not his magic power. Escanor's true danger lies with the heat energy realeased from him and not the size of his magic. I'm sure if escanor had emotional issues and outbursts as meliodas during daytime, there might have been no more brittainia.

If Merlin died in general, i think Britannia would explode... especially if she were to die in his arms. I wonder if that did happen in this arc, would that event make Escanor the final villain of Taizai??? :3c
What would happen if Escanor did get to noon under the circumstances of "To hell with this place" and let loose all his magic?
I would imagine an event similar to Danafor, but, likely a bigger radius of effect!

That is a fair point, because i'm pretty sure it is in this chapter or the next one where Merlin and Meliodas basically say "We need Escanor"
If Escanor himself could close the gap between those differences with 100k that would be pretty insane. But, we saw Hendy's grey demon mode trounce the sins before Mel's power up (Until Revenge Counter), i think he had a PL of about 5500, if i remember right!
So... wouldn't Escanor's 100K basically make all of the commandments 26-50K useless against him?
I think the fanbook coming out is likely to give us a crap ton of information about all the PL's of the commandments and probably more about Escanor and Matrona!

Yep it was in that same chapter. Well what difference it makes if he's 100k or 70k, he would always be stronger than the 26-50k commandments.:XD
Yeah prolly.

True, very true!
As it stands, quite literally nobody has been shown to even amount to Escanor's level. Estarossa did for a while, but, only because of Full counter. The only real damage Escanor sustained in that fight was via his own attacks being reflected at him after all. I bet Estarossa's blade would have just got stuck like Galan's spear :XD
Either way, looking forward to when the fanbook does come out and we get canon info on things that aren't too important, but, things we must know none the less :D

here is my end of arc power level predictions

Escanor: atleast 28k very start of th e day, rises to atleast 80k at noon
Meliodas: Atleast 50k in prime form may raise it to 75k in demon mode and may even raise it more to 100k during his wrath
Merlin: atleast 45k
King: at least 36k
Diane: atleast 28k may even be 32k
Ban: atleast 15k and the abillity to steal more pls. May be able to raise it to 45k
Gowther: atleast 32k

others

demon king: probably around 90-100k, wrath meliodas should come very close to matching and the demon king should be somewhat stronger than escanor logically.

godesses: idk appear to be fodder but they atleast appeared to think they could handle the demon clan. Which means they must have some beings cost to atleast 40k and maybe won via hax, as i don't see them beating the demon king of they are scared of meliodas

and i do believe demon form meliodas<noon escanor

however i also think wrath mode meliodas > escanor

I have realized that i have yet to give my opinion of the actual ranking of the sins on this thread (At least i think i haven't), so i'm gonna give it a go.
Honestly, i think ranking the sins strengths is a little redundant considering that certain opponents are best suited to face other people and what not, but, i also feel like there is a sense of who is where on the list of the sins. For my opinion, i'm adding the highest power level we have seen each character at so far, just to give a little more emphasis to my opinion.

1. Meliodas (32.5K) and Escanor (50K)
2. King (11K)
3. Merlin (4710)
4. Ban (26Kish)
5. Diane (3250)
6. Gowther (3100)

I'm giving Meliodas AND Escanor the top spot, because although it is possible that 1 may be much stronger than the other... There is really now way to tell how strong prime Meliodas or peak Escanor are, because we haven't seem them at their max potential. My opinion of this, is that from 10Am-2Pm Escanor will gradually reach Meliodas's level and by about 11AM he will have exceeded it, with his power at noon being much greater than Mel's. But, for the rest of the day, Meliodas will be stronger. I think this is a fairly unbiased and honestly good way to look at these two. Meliodas is stronger 20/24 hours per day, but, come those 4 hours Escanor will exceed MEliodas's strength and be much stronger than him.

As for later on in the arc, i assume their power levels will look like this (I'm only ranking here on account of how high i think they can go):

1. Escanor: 28K (Night), 35K (Dawn), 85-100K (Noon)
2. Meliodas: 44K (Standard), 55K (Demon mark), 66K (Demon mode)
3. Merlin: 47K (All Magic)
4. King: 33K (Chastifol), 42K (True spirit spear)
5. Ban: 20K (Normal), 40K (Physical Hunt)
6. Diane: 32.5K (Dolor's Dance)
7. Gowther: 31K (Commandment)

I should also mention i'm still unsure if we will hit the 100K range in this arc, if there is a third one planned after it, but, in the meantime Escanor hitting 85K doesn't seem that far fetched.

With 3 arcs planned for this series, i would be very surprised if we did reach 100K this early on... however, i do agree that logically Escanor and Meliodas should be weaker than the demon king. Meliodas because he is the son and although he was in the running to be the next one, he should not have been quite that powerful at that moment in time and Escanor has a strict limit to how strong he can be, so as long as the demon king exceeds Escanor's peak... well, he would theoretically be stronger than him. Though i'd imagine that the DK being stronger than either of these characters would not make them waver, because 1 loves a challenge and they both would want to kick his butt.

I'd imagine that the goddess clan did have beings who could rival the ten commandments, but, having to deal with Meliodas on the battelfield was the problem. They likely did not have all that much planned to fight him with, and that is why he was the major problem. Though, that begs the question of did they think they could beat the demons and the king after Meliodas left the clan and basically knocked off 2 commandments whilst destroying some of it?
The goddesses by the end of the war must have used the sealing technique as a last ditch effort to beat the demons... that seems like the most logical outcome for me. I mean, when they were released from the seal... the commandments all looked ready to fight.

why is ban with treasure the lowest? ban without his treasure was already able to go toe to toe with galan, then later on ripped merascylla's body off.
king and diane before their power up can't even beat dolor/gloxinia's minion for pete's sake. he should be either 6 or 7

also late mornign escanor is still above meliodas proof of that is galan's interaction/reaction between the 2.
galan know's prime meliodas' capabilities and yet he's shitting his pants off escanor's pre-noon form whereas when galan first encountered meliodas after awakening he challenged him to a duel. see the difference? galan broke his own decree out of fear of escanor which is waay different compared to meliodas'

I highly doubt that King will be that weak.
