So what exactly didn't he use, that he still could have?
The Enchantment magic of the Demon Clan is very powerful and VERSATILE ... with his current state approaching to his original power as the "True Legend of his clan, he MUST have a great deal of Dark magic spells. Also, we didn't see him use those great amount of Darkness (I won't be exaggerating if I tell you that he only used 1/1000 of the amount of Darkness he used to Obliterate Danafor Kingdom as previously seen)

Look I am not Mel fan. From design to who he is, and I am willing to except a human besting the successor of the Demon King. Escanor is known as the peak of all clans and he wouldn't have that name if he couldn't beat this one demon. But I still think if Mel used his full arsenal (revenge counter) he would of won. I loved the fight no matter what because it's the Seven Deadly MF Sins.
the problem here is that to use RC you have to drop your magic and become defenseless. Meliodas' gonna die if he does that to Holy Sword EscaGOD. the attack didn't even actually touch Meliodas' body rather it slashed Mel's darkness and the colatrellal destruction is the one that oneshotted and wrecked Mel.

removing the darkness and actually being hit by the attack itself is a death setence.

1- The fully regressed Meliodas
2- The One (using his Entire store built over several years)
3- Assault mode of the STILL regressing Meliodas
4- The One (after burning the store of energy
Bro Escanor is literally invincible for 1 whole minute, he's stronger than everyone at this point in the series until we see him attain some form of damage in his peak

Do you realize Fraudrin tanked that right ?

Omgggg

It doesn't matter, in order to use Revenge counter he'd need to be powerless and in base

He'd die right away

Dude, if Merlin described Escanor as "invincible" for minute, the Demon King [as great and powerful he is] described prime Mel as "Almighty". Furthermore, Assault Meliodas is NOT stupid or novice when it comes to battles and power levels. We saw him in a very relaxed state even when Escanor reached The One and unleashed his lifetime's store of energy.

the author himself gave Escanor the "The Almighty" while AM Meliodas was "The Greatest Evil" in their fight last week.:garbear now you know who the author views as more powerful :fan

you're telling me he released all his energy and yet you can clearly see him walking in his transformed state with enough energy to carry Rhitta the same axe Galan can't even lift. nice contradiction right there.

Just to clarify

Escanor isn't a battery. He cannot store his own power, it vanishes overnight. "Build" doesn't mean to store up if you read the sentence in context.

While the manga doesn't mean to make the point escanor is a battery, I am still somewhat unsure of what the context is in regards to escanor. Because the MS translation is rather confusing (FKS didn't seem to clear on what it meant when he mentioned it in the chapter discussion). In any case if this is about the power escanor doesn't use as he powers up during the day then the implication would be that escanor suppressing his power actively hurts him and he would actually be better of if he didn't suppress it at all but rather allowed it to increase and decrease as it would naturally.

so apparantly Escanor's title wasn't "The Almighty" rather its "The Strongest"

straightforward confirmation that the author views Escanor as the strongest entity in the verse for being given such title

Wondering if (or when) Jr Gowther would reach Sr Gowther's lvl. If (or when) this happens (EoS), I might place him just below DK/SQ lvl & potentially the 2nd strongest or most effective SDS.

I was thinking about this not too long ago as well.

I doubt he'll be in the top two, but I was wondering if he'll get another power up relating to his late father. It's also a possibility that he could get something from his "mother", or the person whose appearance he's based off of.

He should be at this level right now.

Since they are three now Nakaba will probably allow him to show more of his powers.

I don't expect gowther to ever be a top combatant TBH. He has a powerful, almost broken ability but realistically speaking it works best when he can catch his enemies of guard and lacks the actual capacity to harm his enemies. As for his magic, isn't it the same as papa gowther's? To put this in context, I would argue gowther becoming a top combatant would be like melascula being considered a top combatant. Sure, there are circumstances in which either would win without effort against much stronger enemies (say, melascula eats your soul) but that is not quite the same as either being the strongest.

The Sins are supposed to be top combatants though. Merascylla is one among the Demons, that's why she is a Commandment. But she is one of the weakest.

Melascula has been referred to as a non combat type though. And realistically speaking she doesn't have means to get into combat normally. And even then her being the "weakest" has to be put in context to make sense because she has been a huge threat to the sins for a while. Heck, the only reason escanor is alive is that melascula did with his soul the one thing that could thwart her at that point. Had she done literally anything else with it escanor wouldn't be a thing anymore. And say what you will but she did singlehandedly corner the sins in corant. It was sheer luck that elizabeth awakened early enough to save diane... Gowther, I would argue, is in a comparable boat to melascula in that regard. His magic lacks offensive capacity and odds are he is not too physically powerful either however his magic can make him deadly regardless of his PL. Melascula seems like a bigger threat than several of the more powerful commandments so far...

1)Escanor(he was given the title of "The Strongest" by the author himself)
2)Meliodas(base mel alone is too powerful for the other sins not named escanor)
3)Merlin(stomped Grayroad)
4)Gowther/Diane/King (haven't shown anything yet)
5)Gowther/Diane/King
6)Gowther/Diane/King
7):ban (he badly needs a powerup)

feels bad for ban

To be honest I don't know where exactly I'd place merlin/diane/king/gowther ranking wise. Diane has shown the highest confirmed PL out of them however we have no real cap to anyone else's power. King clocked at 40.6 k which is more than respectable but we can't rule out that not being his full power at that point nor the inevitable power boost he will get once his wings fully develop. Not to mention that king has the most varied skillset from any sin given that he draws power from the sacred tree via chastiefol along with him having disaster which grants him power over life and death. Gowther in turn is a fighter whose effectiveness can, IMO, be compared to melascula's. He is likely a bitch to deal with but it is not because he can hit back as hard as other fighters could but rather because his skillset is a bitch to deal with. I mean, what stops gowther's magic from being effective on the one or assault mode meliodas? And then diane whose potential is greater than dolor's.... She draws power from the earth itself and likely will continue to increase as she fine tunes her connection. While not quite as convenient as drawing power from the sun her potential could easily be much greater than we have seen so far. Merlin in turn does not seem immediately as broken. Her infinity is useful though I still think members overhype the ability more than it deserves. Because most spells don't even need to last an infinite amount of time to begin with. And sure, some can be magnified greatly by lasting an infinite amount of time. However this shouldn't be taken to mean merlin has an infinite amount of power at his disposal. Infinity won't help her overcome a PL difference nor necessarily make spells more deadly. Lasting longer won't help them hit harder.

She has not really been said to be the non combat type. The Ten Commandments are the strongest Demons, she is not the best fighter but she is still one of the strongest. Nerobasta said something like that but it was to motivate the scared members of Stigma.

I am not sure if she is the weakest but she is one of the weakest. If she is not in her Snake form, she has good chances to beat Galan. Hell Gate has been underused so we didn't really see all she can d but against the others the gap is too wide in a one on one. Gowther's Magic doesn't really lack offensive capabilities, the damages are more mental than physical. Invasion is one of the most dangerous Magics IMO. But Nakaba tries hard to make it appear underwhelming.

I was thinking about what nerobasta said when she said that. Still, in context it makes sense given melascula's skillset. Even her spells are not particularly destructive in general.

Just look at gowther's track record with his magic so far. He bested dreyfus but he did have to take a significant hit for it. It's not like he had much of an option of using his magic without being impaled. Granted he did win that one. Against hendricksen gowther was essentially useless other than to transmit the plan to everyone. He didn't even attack hendricksen IIRC. Then against diane he had more than a fair bit of trouble considering diane was at half her size and at the time gowther performed much better than diane without a sacred treasure. Against escanor his magic backfired completely, he would have been better off just bitch slapping him. He tried using his powers to save diane but in that case the evil grudge spirits were able to resist it. I would argue we have reached a point where his powers will be far less useful than what we had seen before. His strongest technique so far, nightmare teller, works basically by targeting a person's regrets and remorse. There are some people against whom this would not be too effective, the technique can be resisted. In particular demons who effectively work as remorseless killers who seem to genuinely grow stronger on darkness. Invasion is insanely powerful but it also carries a huge risk for gowther as it is entirely possible for enemies to resist it (at least based on the evil grudge or escanor). Not to mention that gowther does have to catch his enemies of guard for this to work to begin with.

Now imagine perfect cube plus infinity
