Throwback to RAVE
so Rave was essentially the predecessor to Fairy Tail. Recently, Ive heard various online groups
call Rave a "sub-par Beta version of Fairy Tail." I've read hundreds of manga online, of various
genre and plot. But Rave stands out among them. While admitedley slow at the beginning, I felt
Rave asserted itself as a Manga that was serious in various aspects and maintained a level of
continuity, but also established its own personal brand of humor, something similar to Shaman
King. This humor paves the way for interesting
action and abilities that are completley original and very entertaining. The world they live in is
fascinating, and the plot never ceases to amaze me. The writer transitions beautifully from old
and new antagonists, adding only to the direness of the situation every time a new one is
introduced. This isnt Gamaran where random powerful oponents are introduced just to be
slaughtered, almost every villain is tied into a protagonists life, and affects the story in an in-depth
way (for the most part). In one case, a truly evil villain is defeated, survives, but makes
ammends internally and swears to start anew. Through this he re-connects with his once hated
brother, and even finds a possible love interest. Unfortunatly, he is killed by the second in
command of the organization he once served, along with the entire village he finally felt at peace
in. This brings me to my next point, where this manga isn't afraid to kill off popular
characters and protagonists. There is no constant resurection, and most of the time if someone
is dead they are dead (save for Let.). There are so many tear-jerker moments in this splendid
manga that i cannot even begin to create a list of all the times i bawled my eyes out. you truly
feel connected with these amazing and interesting characters, so much so that you WILL lose it
every time one dies.
The only
time this manga ever has a cliched moment is the final battle, which is essentially a no bs
showdown between the main antagonist and the protagonist (this is the final conclusion to the
near 296 issue manga). This showdown is done perfectly, and every hint of emotion is touched
upon and felt by the reader as he or she observes this breathtaking and flawless final battle. It is
truly an example of a final example done right, one i certainly missed in mangas like Yuyu
hakusho (even though it IS shown in the anime version.
Over all, im writing this as tribute to one of the greatest, in my opinion, manga's of all time. Good day to you all, and i hope you proceed to a website to read this life-changing manga.
