Re: Mangahelpers awards / Durarara (ep15) // pushed 6 cars out of the snow

Kiraboshi! So I'm up to episode mid-9 now. The series is kicking my ass in terms of being an awesome watch. Episode 8 was superb with Sugata and Takuto's confrontation and fight. I can't wait to see Sugata go all out when he can fight for real instead of using another "weakling's" Cybody. I'll be up to date tonight, unfortunately.
Kiraboshi!

:hi5

Hell yeah, then we will be able to do a weekly Star driver talk. I am glad that you are enjoying this series. Yeah, the fight between Sugata and Takuto was very great. Everything was perfect in that episode

Going to dl, this week's episode

So then it's time to rewatch DRRR I guess. Are you up to 15 now? How are you liking it so far? I bet you were surprised at the revealing of Dollar's leader?
If I were you I'd give baccano a chance. It's from the same novelist who made DRRR! and it was animated before DRRR. Similar style: narrative, mosaic. Baccano is more complex and has greater violent/action scenes.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4PxlxE9Fo8 (here is baccano's op) -> the first two characters dressed as santa clause and pumpkin man made an appearance in DRRR

oh and baccano has alchemists ;)

I like DRRR! a lot. The second part seems to be more serious and reminds me more of baccano which is a good thing.

Yes, the leader was an unexpected surprise. I kinda like it also how they show it explicitely who is who in the chatroom.

Re: Mangahelpers awards / Durarara (ep15) // pushed 6 cars out of the snow

I'm up to date now, I guess my new set speaks for itself.

You're going to download a non gg sub? One sub of 13 came out about right now, but it's not gg so I'm waiting. Tomorrow it's round 13 of epicness.

I will download Baccano, my next project will be rewatching DRRR or watching Baccano. It depends on my mood. I won't start on anything tonight.

Yeah the chatroom was a great part of the series, I loved Izaya in there :amuse

Hell yeah, this looks sweet and awesome

Masaomi Kida picking up his leadership of the gang with the yellow scarves. The playful boy looked very serious at the end of the episode. Damn, the second part is very similar to baccano: more serious, more violent... Then again they are totally different.

Indeed, the second part is darker. I liked both, but if I'd choose I'd take the first. On an overall basis the second part didn't entertain me as much as the first, even if it came close.

I caught up with a bit of Toriko on the plane (ch90 now) and guess what! My brother sitting next to me got hooked too although he only started reading with me from ch83 or so! :XD the power of Toriko :)

Yeah, the two parts are different. I also believe that on an overall basis I'd like the first part more. The narrative, mosaic style was more explicit and the mood strengthened by that great piano song was amazing, amazing, amazing...

The dark part isn't bad at all, I kinda like it but it sometimes feel like they stretch some issues out for too long. Eg: Anri - Niekawa and the Saika issue was a good but it took too long imo

Well, Baccano is different: it mixes the sincere part and the dark part together throughout its whole season of 12 eps (+ an extra of 3 eps afterwards).

Haha, awesome. What Toriko and food can do to a man's stomach :p Good you are catching up with it. It is really getting interested because of the introduction of other characters which strengthen the imaginary world of Toriko (eg Melk I and II), because of those mysterious courses that are mentioned (God, Earth, Air,... what is next...) and so on and on

You'll have to explain some things to your brother I assume

So how's that DRRR watching going for you? Last I heard you were at ep 17 (thread title). I just watched the first episode of Baccano, nothing spectacular yet but it was fairly interesting.

Re: Mangahelpers awards / Durarara (ep17) // Koenosaki vs Kiraboshi (Riki, Nuno) ~ Who's next?

@Riki: yes, I like Kanako the most. Thank you for the pic. Her character is great, her background was great, her voice is great,... and Wako's CPR aside, she knew how to steal a kiss from Takuto :) I kinda like the kiraboshi girls except for Benio I think.

@Nuno: on hold. Not that it isn't interesting anymore but I mostly watch my anime of +20 episodes in two different batches with an decent break in between. The anime is great. Baccano: be more patient with it. It is even more narrative than DRRR imo. It can more confusing too but its finale is really great. Everything comes literally together

I get liking Kanako but I found most of the other crux girls be rather meh imo, sure the student prez seems to be preparin some sort of plot twist gathering identities and having a past with wako and sugata (I think, not sure on the names of the guys in this anime) but all the other female members of crux seem to just have 1 interesting character atribute and no purpose....

Benio is definitely a meh... Professor green's character development was mostly used for the comic relief. I do think that Marino and Keito can't be judged yet since their character development will happen in the near future. Well, it might be that you are somewhat right and that those leading kiraboshi girls aren't aware of the true motives

I didn't know that you watched Star Driver Drakno

I got really bored with Baccano, but it does get better in later episodes I guess... Still have yet to watch the last episode though, hee. Did you watch the 3 extra episodes?

It's funny and sometimes that's all an anime has to be to enjoy watching it (I liked Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt more while we are on this genre (yes, for everyone that doesn't know there's an anime with this name)) I watch SD for the lols and it definitely achieves that, why wouldn't it? the main char calls himself Ginga Bishounen....

It's already a done deal riki!

You wanted me to post about Baccano, koen. So here it is. I've watched 5 episodes so far, and so far it's an okay watch. I didn't really get enough hype from the first episode, but I was patient and it paid off in the second as I got a better grasp on the plot then. So far I get that the center plot of the series is around the artificial immortality, and it's all connected to the train incident one way or another. I like the brutal and dark themes in the series, it's far stronger there than DRRR which has a whole different feel to it. The characters are interesting and the mysteries keep me wanting to watch more. I really have no idea where it's going now though. I still know literally close to nothing about what is really going on.

:confetti happy new year too :confetti may you all have the good in 2011

I worked in the restaurant till 11.30 pm... I didn't have the yearly celebration with friends and thus I counted down in the restaurant with the collueges :)

Afterwards I went to the city having the beer, pub party with a lot of friends :)

I am not so into resolutions. Maybe I'll have one: sassou toujou, ginga bishounen, TAUBURN. You will never win :kukuku

:hi5 sally, great that you picked sugata.

Baccano is imo more complex than DRRR. You'll need to keep a focus but when everything comes together in the last episodes then you'll love the show even more.

Yep I watched the three extra episodes. I liked that new character a lot :)

Re: Mangahelpers awards / Durarara (ep17) // Koenosaki vs Kiraboshi (Riki, Nuno) ~ Who's next?

Well I just finished episode 9, where much of it revolved around Vino aka Rail Tracer. So I'm understanding a lot more now, especially after episode 8 when the "flashback" occured. I'm impressed with the writing of the series.

So what's these extra episodes for? Are they part of the canon material? And why three? I thought there were 12 episodes + 3 extra = 15. But I have 16 episodes total.
