sounds like a lot of fun to play but im busy atm. when the next game starts, can someone please PM me?

Also, we should try playing the revival round 1 game too, it should be fun.

The downsizing game can be played with some modifications. Instead of # people advancing to the next round except one like in the manga. In this game that person will become the winner.

The person with the lowest amount of votes will be the winner. Say everyone individual has 3 votes. Voting for yourself is suicide so you take out Destiny by giving her all 3 of you votes. Or divide them between players so everyone takes a hit.

Wow, look at how much difference another round makes. It seems Ustegius was a threat and taken out quickly. Of course not all hope is lost we have more rounds to play!!!

I'm in. Though I vote for editing the opening post a bit, like writing a clear set of rules so those new to game also get it. And what are we playing for? Avatars again?. And do I remeber correctly, that in this game the votes are invisible through the game, so no one can see how you voted?

Yes, votes are invisible and the penalty for losing has yet to be determined.

I still think the game is missing a little something.... In the original there were things that could be bargained for votes meaning each vote had to be earned. In here we have to somehow give reasons to people to not vote for us which I find a tad awkward as far as overall gameplay is concerned. Wouldn't it make sense for the one with the most votes to win? Also, in the game you could buy and sell votes you already had, with how polls work here that'd be a tad hard. To make it work that way we'd have to have a secretariat with a lot of counting to do....

I still think the single player with the most votes should win. I am not a fan on the idea of the one with the least votes winning. A few rules should be implemented to promote negotiating votes though, I just can't seem to think of what....

I was thinking.... The game in the manga had money which could be bargained for stuff. Why don't we do that here? Players can start with a sum of money (we do not have to deal with money quantities in the millions, hundreds or thousands should be more than enough). At the end of the game money could be automatically traded for votes, say each 5, ten or 20 thousand units of money automatically trades for a vote. In this way money has value and can significantly affect the strategy we use in the game. Actually, strategy would be a huge requirement to winning. In turn, money can also be used to buy votes previously earned. The main issue with this is that the secretariat would have a lot of accounting to do considering how many transactions could come up-but on the other hand the game would be all the more interesting-.

I really like you idea kkck, the most votes wins makes the best sense. You will vote for the winner. We will have to add the rule, don't vote for yourself dummy!

Of course I'm sure you would make groups of alliances, that way the team wouldn't have to suffer from the penalty of the winner.

Think of any penalty. Gwaa I want to procrastinate details of this game, I'm lazy. >.<

Well, voting for yourself would not be allowed but in turn that is what the secretariat would be for. If we do play the game with money and votes, we should rally give props to the secretariat, s/he would have a lot of work to do. Nothing excel can't fit though.

Downsizing/Restructuring Game

Using this (downsizing/restructuring) term, many hard-working people are being laid off during our current difficult economy. Using the same principle, the goal is quite simple. Out of the all the players here, each one of you will to face the risk of being “downsized”!

Here are the rules of the game:

1)Anybody can play, but you have to write a post indicating that you want to take part in the game.

2)Once there are enough people to play the game, the game will start.

3)All of the players will receive a bundle of blank vouchers that we will call “M Tickets”. They represent the $1000 that will be given to each one of the players in this game.

The “M” in the “M Ticket” stands for money. Basically they are just like checks.

At this time, each of you possesses a check worth up to $1000. You are allowed to use that money as you please during this game.

4) The “M Tickets” will be used to buy and sell whatever things the players consider they need in order to win the game. Both seller and buyer must indicate the item and the amount paid for it on their M tickets. You will then send these to the Liar Game secretariat and once approved the transaction is complete. Unless both sides agree, the transaction is invalid. Please be aware that if, after approval, the agreed-upon item is not received you will be disqualified of the game. You will see that after this game begins things you least expect will sell for an extremely high price…

5) In addition to the “M Tickets”, all of the players will receive “V Tickets”. The “V” in the “V Ticket” stands for vote. The V Tickets are ballots with 5 spaces in which you write names. All of you will write the names of people you wish to downsize. You are to write five names in the blanks. It doesn’t matter if you use the same name more than once. Disobey this rule and you will be disqualified. However, you may not write your own name or the name of a player that doesn’t exist.

You will vote like this during 10 rounds in total. At the end of each voting round, the LG secretariat will display the current tallies. This is to allow you to reference the tallies in preparation for the next voting round. 6) The V Tickets must be sent to the LG secretariat before the round ends. If a player sends his/her V Ticket after the round is over, the player will be disqualified.

6) Once each round starts, you will have 36hrs to send your V Ticket. If the player does not send his/her V Ticket within 36hrs, the player will be disqualified. However, if all the players send their V Tickets before the 36 hours are up, the secretariat will write a post in this thread informing the players about the results.

9 )You can vote at any time during the voting time, but you do have to indicate once you have voted by writing “My V ticket is in”. Lying in response to this rule is not allowed.


More rules:

One of the players will be designated as the Liar Game secretariat. The Liar Game secretariat will be in charge of tallying the votes. The Liar Game secretariat will make sure that the rules are followed and that there is no foul play going on, as well as enforcing penalties for violation of rules or foul play. As punishment for breaking the rules or foul play; the player:

-will be face automatic disqualification
-will not only have to use an avi chosen by the winner of the game, but also a sig too.
Note: if you can think of other penalties feel free to post your ideas.


-The winner of the game gets to choose the losers’ avatars/sigs. The losers will have to have these for a week. No offensive avis/sigs are allowed!! The losers will have to accept the avis/sigs the winner chooses for them without complaining, even if they don’t like the avis/sigs or the characters. In addition, the winner gets "thank you" rep points from all of the losers.

Note: if you can think of other or a different reward feel free to post your ideas.

-Once a player is disqualified, the player cannot have any contact with players that are still in the game; but only in regards to the game.

-Players are allowed to buy and sell using their M tickets whatever the players think they will need in order to win the game. Only M tickets pm to the Liar Game secretariat will be honored! The secretariat will not interfere in the way transactions are made; the secretariat only will make sure that the transactions are honored.

I have a question bout the M tickets. If we use up all the money or not how does this effect the game? It's fake money so of course I would spend it all. But then it creates a problem. Members bribed me and I have a ton of money, say $6,000 now. I'm still going to lose because money means nothing in this game, only votes.

Making 10 rounds seems harsh for the secretary, considering we have a history of members and time restraints not getting them counted in time.

Of course these are the same rules from the manga. So we will have to adjust them.

Well, the problem with money is that it has no value once the game is over... In that sense, I can get something out of buying a vote but there is no reason for me to sell a vote. Now, I did provide a suggestion earlier but it presented another problem. Say we agree to change money for votes at the end of the game. Say we agree on 100 = 1 vote. If I keep my money I'd get 10 votes at the end of the game. Buying a vote for less than 100 will be unlikely given that another player could just wait to the end and get 10 votes anyways. In other words, the issue here is that money lacks inherent value, which did not happen in the manga. Money is necessary for us to be able to do stuff... but in turn money is worthless and we hardly have any reason to trade it... I was thinking, maybe there could be a prize for the one with the most money too... something like the one that has the most money does not have to change his avatar. Another problem would be the amount of rounds. If each one lasts 36 hours then a game could last as long as 2 weeks. I'd think we need to limit that quite a bit. 5 rounds should be enough, I think a 1 week game is manageable.

Also, the results must be anounced each round. Otherwise I could just sell votes I do not have.... Of course, this is the liar game though...

Thinking about it, giving inherent value to money is a hard thing in game since it is imaginary but in turn adding a number of rules can help aid the issue. I gave a few suggestions to give value to money now but it still is not quite there.... A few more rules(and penalties ) should be enough to make players use their money wisely.

Mmmm…here are some ideas:

1) We can reduce the amount of money given to the players and in that way increase the possibility that the player will have to spend it all.

2) We can keep the same amount of money ($1000) but we will put a “price to being the winner”. Let’s say we have 7 players, so we multiply 7 x 1000 = 7000 so those $7000 will be the price to buy the first place directly from the LG secretariat. In this way we will have two ways to win the game.

I like this idea, that’s why I suggested the idea of being able to buy the first place because I also think there should be a reward for the person with the most money.

You are right about having too many penalties being scary(confusing most likely though) but remember they are meant to resolve the issue of the money lacking any inherent value. For the game to make sense, I think it is necessarily to have a number of rules, conditions and penalties which would give inherent value to the money. So far the in game money would be like monopoly money but without having any properties to invest in. Ok, it is not that absurd but I think I made my point...

I think that sounds about right.... I guess we could give the game a test drive and see whether it is fine like that or it needs some adjusting. I am still a tad concerned about the in game value of money though (in an ideal case, it should be able as valuable and useful as money in monopoly)
