Good job to all those who played! I just kinda lurked the thread to see what was happening. I'm just going to toss this idea I had in my head before the first game started...
I'll call it "Hidden Votes Expansion Pack", for a modified version to play the game. It would require a couple of different rules, but could add a new level of depth (and team-building, assuming a larger group plays) to the game. This game expansion would require more players and more rounds than the initial test, as you soon will see...

Hidden Vote Expansion Pack Rules:
Note: All established rules maintain, unless otherwise mentioned below.
In the standard game, the number of votes, as well as the ranking for all players are shown. What if the number of votes were hidden and only ranking was shown? With the number of votes remaining hidden from all players, two new mechanics would need to be added.
Viewing Rights:
At any point during a round, a player can purchase the right to view the number of votes each player has for the previous round (known as Viewing Rights). This record would NOT count the current round. Additionally, you can only purchase the right for the immediately previous round. (If you are in round 6, you can not see the results for round 2, only round 5.) The initial price for these rights are set at $50.
To purchase the rights, you must send a PM to the Secretariat as an M Ticket. The Secretariat will then respond completeing the transaction and providing you with results from the previous round. A player may purchase the rights as many times as they wish. As with all M Tickets, other players will not see the contents or have any knowledge of you as a player directly purchasing the right to see the votes.
Any money recieved by the Secretariat will be placed into the "Winner's Spoils" which will be updated at the start of every round.
Winner's Spoils:
This is a pool of money that the Secretariat has collected throughout the game. The winner of the game will recieve all of the money in the pool and be added to his/her own bank account. In the case of multiple winners, the pool will be split evenly between all parties. The winner of the game may also redistribute his/her money at the end of the game. Any outstanding M Ticket requirements on the winning player can be applied after receiving the Winner's Spoils. The amount in the Winner's Spoils pool will be updated during the start of each round by the Secretariat.
Rights Auction:
Initially, the right to see the votes for the previous round would be set at $50. However, starting in the 2nd round, all active players can bid to change the cost of viewing the votes for the next round. The person who placed the highest bid in the voting thread can set the price for the following round. However, there are some additional rules for the auction:
- You can only place a bid for yourself
- You can NOT place a bid for more money than you have in your account
- You can NOT change your bid
- You can NOT raise your bid if you are the highest bidder
- Bidding ends when the round is closed.
- You must pay the Secretariat at the end of round if you are the winner.
Before the next round begins, the winner of the auction will announce the new price for the Viewing Rights. The price set can not be higher than the amount of the auction winner has after paying the Secretariat. The lowest value that can be set is $0. The Secretariat will take the auction winner's money and place it into the Winner's Spoils. The starting value of the auction in the following round will be placed at the value of the current purchasing right for that round.
There will be no auction bidding in the final round of the game. However, players can still purchase the Viewing Rights the previous round's results.

As you probably guess by these rules this can change the game alot. Initially when I was thinking up the rules, I didn't have the "Winner's Spoils," which would cause some issues in the game (since the LGT would be gaining money from the game). But adding the Winner's spoils allows the money to stay in the game and create some new team building mechanics. With the spoils, a wise player might be able to "save" all of the other players. If all players work together, and the winner is trust worthy, all players could be "saved."
Here's an example of a team:
Akiyama - He bids on the auction, votes go to Kanzaki
Fukunaga - She spends her money on Viewing Rights, gives the information to the team, votes go to Kanzaki
Kanzaki - Sells some of her votes for additional moeny to give to the team
With this team setup, if Kanzaki wins, then all of the money her team "wastes" on the auction and viewing rights will be returned. However, if her team loses, then well, they will be in a really bad position.
So, these rules encourage a greater level of teamwork, and can hurt people who are a "lone wolf." The "long wolf" can't afford to win the auction every round and purchase the viewing rights.
New levels of trust will need to be in place. What if the person who buys the Viewing Rights is lying? Would you spend your money to prove that they are wrong? Would a player set the Viewing Rights price so high that nobody could afford to see the results on their own terms? Watching the winner's spoils rise can help a player know if someone is looking at the results, but there is a delay before you know how many. How can a player use the Winner's Spoils to their advantage?
I think it's an interesting new rule set that is fairly complete, and doesn't have any major loopholes. It allows for the players to continue playing the game as they normally would, but if voting is coming down to a single vote or two in the final round, this could be the critial key to know who to target. Any thoughts, changes, or clarifications to this expansion pack?
