Already touched on the Devil Fruit point, so I don't think this needs further clarification. The Mero Mero no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows a range of attacks which use emotions of lust or perversion to transform opponents into stone. It was eaten by Hancock as a child when she was force fed the fruit as a slave.

You have a point but the thing is, Riza has proven that there's way more to her character, instead of this one-dimensional snek girl. I'm not saying I'm a big Riza fan, but she's miles better than Boa, in my eyes. Granted we're talking about FMA here, where almost every character has more depth than Boa.

I haven't voted yet and I'm not sure which way I'm going to go but I think your making an apples to oranges comparison in terms of depth. Because Boa does have depth. In fact you could say she's a more established and vivid character without Luffy than Riza would be without Mustang. Without Luffy Boa is sill a wacky Amazon Queen with a dark secret. Riza is an ex-soldier turned secretary.

Hancock is not emotionally nuanced the way Riza is but I don't think she's lacking in depth. She just plays into her gimmicks a lot. Underneath it there is still quite a bit there. It's just not very subtle.

Riza on the other hand is plain and understated almost as a defining feature. Most of her depth is nuance. Aside from that she's almost boring. But she aces the subtle stuff.

So I think they are two very different flavors. Each with their own appeal.

Well I don't fully agree with that but you make some valid points. I think we can settle on the fact that I simply dislike most of Boa's behaviour. You're right when saying that there's more to her than just her love for Luffy, but the problem is that's what the manga is focusing on 90% of the time. She could potentially be an interesting char, but the manga plays so strong on her shtick that she turned boring and became unlikeable, at least in my eyes. Hence why no argument or pic could make me vote for Boa, but maybe when she actually gets some development in the manga that will make me view her in a new light

I can understand that. She's a very Oda character. Very loud. Very vivid. Very pure in concept.

Boa Hancock does appeal to me though. The whole "narcissism hiding insecurity and vulnerability" thing has always been a hit with me. And while I totally get how and where her obsessive love of Luffy could be grating to some, I find it endearing. Her mix of being childishly love struck and her tyrannical personality make for an entertain combo. But if your looking for something more subtle or dramatic she's probably not your girl.

I agree with you, other than Hancock being wacky without Luffy. She only seems to be wacky when she's around Luffy or when it's about Luffy, otherwise she's come across as serious. I don't think she's more vivid than Riza is, actually, but it does feel like we got more backstory on Hancock than we have on Riza even though Riza's had more screentime. Hancock does have depth though, but OP's nature makes it hard to see that as she's supposed to be another one of Luffy's fans in a comical way.

And as you said, apples to oranges. Riza is a serious character in a manga that's not purely comical or outrageous whereas Hancock is a usually serious character in a manga that's all about stress-free comedy and action.

I don't recall talking about whether she was waifu material or not, just her character and its depth. Which I didn't bother to get into when the topic first popped up because I'm on Riza's side.

And she'd be a great waifu to anyone who has her heart/love. THis much you can't deny, though it might be up for debate as to whether anyone else will have her heart, or whether anyone will even if there's no Luffy.
