I understand them. Ozpin said he would stop doing this and he’s still omitting and telling half truths.Though I believe that he genuinely thought not telling them would give them a better chance at attracting less Grimm at the least. And I also understand that he’s not keen on trusting people because he’s been betrayed by people who claimed to be trustworthy in his past. Unless he’s revealed to be the cause, depending on how that happened it puts his character far into question. I’m with Qrow, I trust Ozpin.

Reserving judgement on Ozpin at this point because I really am not sure what the writers are trying to do with this whole situation. Logically, someone who's been around for that long and who has had to fight the fight for thousands of years through many, many generations, should well have the experience and judgement to know what they're doing or they would have lost the fight long ago, assuming no mental deterioration, memory loss, or body transfers messing with sanity, etc. I could envision a writer deciding not to take that tack, and I would disagree with them, but given the some of the choices the RWBY writers have made so far, I don't know which way they're going to take it.

For all practical purposes, betrayal by trusted persons aside, I'd be more concerned about capture and interrogation which is another perfectly good reason for compartmentalization of information.

Ozpin was right about Lionheart too. His last few years don’t erase all the good he did before. And I don’t think he really had a choice once Salem got to him. She killed him and barely had to lift a finger.

I give Ozpin that it was a really right decision ( still it was probably Ghira or Qrow who covered it up ) if Leo secret would come to the light it would really complicate things or Blake/new WF ( Faunus in general tbh )

Ok, I saw the episode.

It was.... ok. it actually explains a lot of things we have seen.

I am slightly disappointed about ozpin tbh. I thought they'd show him as someone who has made mistakes, as someone that had at some point done awful things in the name of his quest. As in, something so awful that he'd want to hide it. But there is nothing here that really tells us what exactly it was that ozpin was hiding. Honestly, most of this portrays him in an extremely favorable light.

I am also somewhat disappointed that the moon being what it is is mostly the gods being petty.

I am taking the guess that ozpin's daughters were the original maidens? it kinda looks like they died when salem went nuts though. something here is weird. I guess it is possible the original fable remains true though. And the maidens reminding ozpin of his daughters was what inspired him to create the maidens at the expense of his power.

The only thing here which made sense to hide is the fact that salem can't be killed by any means. I am guessing raven found out about this and hence went nuts. That said, odds are the relic of knowledge can be used to find out not how to destroy salem but rather how to defeat her.

So... what exactly is salem's endgame with the relics? Her original purpose was to subjugate humanity. But if the relics are united then humanity would be judged. And it looks like either outcome of the judgement does not suit salem. So it sort of makes sense that salem's goal would be that the relics are never used against her nor to summon the gods. I suppose she could have other uses for the relics..... And her intent with the relics is what gets her to have followers even today.

I also wonder, why didn't ozpin use the relics before to summon the gods? When the series started it seems like the world was enjoying a period of peace. It would have been the end of all problems if the peace was sufficient.

Also, where did humanity come from after the god of dark destroyed it? And wtf is up with faunus? Those are pretty huge details which the series skimmed over. Did salem create faunus? It was said faunus were older than humanity somewhere... could they have been the original humanity? Deformed as punishment for their arrogance?


also, considering jin's testimony... can we give ozpin all of the parades and all of the bitches? Seriously, GET THAT SAINT A HAREM. He is nothing short of a wonderful human being that has lived multiple lives as a saint consistently acting in humanity's best interest. |Some mistakes along the way. I also wonder.... could jinn lie?

also, I don't really understand why ozpin saved salem from the castle. Did he just show up and murder salem's dad? This part of the story needs more explaining.

Dunno why but overall I may have more questions than answers after that episode...

- Dust: I believe that dust is the remnant of the magic and falling pieces of the moon to the earth dunno why can't think of anything else atm.

- Faunus remain the biggest mystery for me... From Where...:

- Did Salem somehow created them when she was alone??
- Did the gods pull out a dick move and created them with Humans just to make the whole redemption of humanity harder
- Avatars of the Gods ( base form ) were basically humans with one animal trait... Did Faunus naturally come to exist from the leftovers of they powers??

I have to say that Salem was smart in supporting WF ( I wouldn't be surprised if she's behind also behind some sparks that had increased the racism )
As long as there is mistrust between Faunus and Humans ( which is there from the start ) Ozpin can't use relics

Dunno about Salem and why she wants them ( is she dumb enough to challenge them again? )

Salem goal was always to divide Humanity now we know why ( do you guys remember when I said that Blake has basically bitch slap Salem by her actions??? ) <<< I wouldn't be surprised if Salem targets Blake for that

- " You can't " now this is pretty interesting Genie actually answer this question to Ozpin while for example for RWBY the answer may be very different
She didn't say it's impossible she said that Ozpin is unable to.

- Second Familly of Ozpin: now I was mentioned on the chat by some people that the kids have Silver Eyes but for me, they're Gray so dunno

I doubt that the first kids were maidens ( Or I hope they weren't it would be giant retcon )

Even if I felt bad for Salem some of her actions made me forget about that I just dunno how to feel about her...

Even if they have gone with the worst route for me ( lovers ) it could be much worse

I can kinda see why Ozpin didn't want to tell them that because the information that they can't win may basically crush them ( especially Qrow )

Really dunno how to feel about that episode overall...

Finally, we got the backstory which was kept a mystery for so long. The revelations were certainly not mindblowing, but I enjoyed the episode nonetheless.

So far, there is nothing you could truly blame Oz for. But there is also nothing which needed to be kept a secret, honestly. Let's see if we get more details later on. I expected Oz to screw up badly here. Also, the answer of the Jinn in regards to Salem can be interpreted in various ways. Oz asks how he can destroy Salem. Depending on the viewpoint of the Jinn, her answer "you can't (destroy Salem)" actually holds no value whatsoever. Seriously, Oz asked the question totally wrong there. It was a stupid, not well-thought out question.

A very good episode.

• Im always a huge fan of world-building and history, and this was pretty cool. But after finishing the episode i felt like this would have maybe worked better as a two parter rather than just one episode. Maybe, i dont really know. They still did a very decent job, but my inner fan screamed "moreeeee"
  
  
• I am a bit sad we got so little of Ozma the legendary hero (or was it Ozmo ). We only know that he saved Salem in a very FairyTale-like fashion and fallen in love, like so many heroes from old fairy tales. I would have prefered that we got just a bit more of Ozma and Salem together after he saved her (this is where my desire for another episode rised). That way i would have bought their love a bit more, and even more so i would probably better understand Salem's very very selfish desire that in the long run doomed humanity and the world.
  
  
• Ok this maybe just me but Salem resembles Zeref from Fairy Tail so much that i wouldnt be surprised that RoosterTeeth took inspiration from it. Even some major players from the RoosterTeeth team are doing VA for the FT eng dub, like cmon I am sorry im making this comparison but for me its kinda similar:
  • searching for a way to resurrect a loved one
  • getting cursed because of it by the gods themselves
  • becomes an immortal and op mage
  • the gods want her to understand the value of life to break the curse
  • ........ i wouldnt be surpised if she were searching for the power of the relics to turn back time for whatever reason
• The Gods are interesting, what else is there to say. And i am strongly convinced we havent seen the last of them.
  
  
• Yeah a good question is how did humanity rebuild itself if it was wiped out with only Salem remaining as the lone survivor Was this like a evolution thing, kinda like when the dinos were wiped out. It took "quite some time" for humans to develop and rule the world. But that would mean that the first erasure of humanity happened like millions of years ago right. Maybe the gods were just trolling and left a few innocent settlers alive. Who knows. And whats with the faunus? Where did they come from? Or was this also a evolution thing ... its funny that the gods looked like faunus, maybe thats a thing ...
  
  
• I really wonder what the end game is. What is Salem's ultimate goal, and what is Ozpin trying to do/prevent/accomplish. Gathering the relics would be madness cuz that would summon the gods and i can tell that they wouldnt like what they would see which would lead to another erasure of the planet. Maybe thats the goal of Salem; wiping out humanity with her being the only one remaining. But that would be a bit generic, and why would her squad of mortal humans even help her to accomplish that, are they idiots. Maybe it is her goal, but she told them something else and hides the truth of the destruction .... speculations speculations
  
  
• Oz talking about the sins he committed ... well i can buy this. He did screw up the initial plan of the gods which ultimately led to his own daughters deaths and has given rise to Salem's inner dark madness. Plus he wanted the booty so much that he played benevolent dictator/god for years. I guess he didnt want the squad to know about Salem being his lover and that his lack of resolve triggered all the destruction through history.
  
  
• Damn, so good ol Oz and Salem porked who cares about the gods when you got booty.
  
  
• Jokes aside, i was surprised they got kids and sad they died (well the episode didnt show their deaths, but it is heavily implied if you ask me ... who would even survive a clash of "Dumbledor" and "Voldemort") I dont think the four daughters were the maidens, but they probably were the inspiration. Oz probably met four young girls, probably during his deep depression days or something like that. They resembled his daughters and he gifted them magic in hope they will help the world cuz he couldnt. And that in the end inspired him to fight once more
  
  
• Love the fact that all four relics look different. Im guessing:
  • Sword --> destruction
  • Staff --> creaction
  • crown --> choice
  • lamp --> knowlegde
    
    
• Oh and now begs the question, how do you defeat Salem. She is basically as strong as four maidens combined (if she was equal to prime Oz with all his magical might), plus she is immortal If Raven knew that, than she was right to be scared. There is no beating Salem with current means. She is basically the most powerful being in the world.
  
  
• My guess is the oldschool cringe way of "love beats everything" would do the trick, but that would be meh if you ask me ....

Overall i loved the episode, it was great, but i wanted a bit more.

I think that Gods recreate Humans I don't wanna watch it again now but didn't The light one said That if Humanity will learn the lesson and redeem themselves etc. so he was aware that Humans are there ( they probably doing another experiment :P )
