Saeki might be bland and beige and occasionally get lost in large piles of sand and distracted by urchins, but he’s still technically healthy.

He tries to make his surroundings a better place as evidenced by his 'Lots of Flowers' movement and is generally involved with the people around him.
He'd try to make many meaningful memories with you, while Saeki is a little more generic in his advances
Thence, he's way more interesting than beige sandman and possibly much more dedicated too
Because it's really hard to tell what Saeki is thinking sometimes, between sandcastles and urchins and bleaching his hair

Making meaningful memories is walking through a garden for some, for the other it's sharing fun times on the beach trying to outperform eachother with sandcastle decorations and afterwards chilling looking at the stars with urchin snacks. I also don't see the generic. He's direct and honest, albeit gross, but still that. There's no prodding, teasing (as far as he's aware) or manipulation involved. He likes you.
Besides, sae is a rokkaku kid. Rokkaku is very involved with making the world a better place, and I doubt saeki isn't working hard to achieve that.
beige sandman can be interesting. One does not need to have peacock feathers and drama falling from their shoulders to be "interesting". In fact, saeki being beige is just his way of showing the world that he's as natural and refreshing as he can be. There are no masks, or deceptions he falls back on, he shows his emotions openly, and him being very sae is just part of his personality, something that's really appreciated in current time.
Personally, I don't think it's bad to have a one way mind. it's cute if ppl have passions about some things, and if those things happened to be urchins and sandcastles, well sign me up.

Yukimura definitely does emphasize having fun, but he puts a lot of thought into his dates, bouquets and little presents. It's the little things like holding hands or taking a picture together, discovering a new place, a new meaning to something you didn't think about before.
Above all, Saeki is praised as being handsome or refreshing, instead of praised as a person.
Yukimura isn't fond of lying. At times he's honest to a fault, yes, but he'll be honest with you.
Besides, what's wrong with a little teasing? Yukimura definitely isn't as much of a tease as Nioh (I think), but at times, I don't think it's bad.
At the end of gakupuri, Yukimura told mc-chan he'd wait for her to fall in love with him as well. Being honest to his own feelings, yet giving mc-chan the space to get to know him better. I feel that, even if she didn't fall in love, he'd still accept it, although he'd still be very sad.

I wasn't referring to peacock feathers and drama falling from his shoulders, at all. I just feel that, as a character, Yukimura is more defined. His likes, dislikes, but also his motivations and driving reasons, the sharp contrast between on-court and off-court, his kindness and harshness, things he isn't comfortable with and things he'd rather hide, things he loves and things he appreciates. I feel that Saeki, while he has his fair share of likes-dislikes and a bit of definition for character, is still a lot less deep. I acknowledge that Saeki has less defining characteristics because he isn't a main boy, but the things he has, I feel, don't add much to him besides sticking a few labels on.

As I said, Yukimura values honesty. His tennis is another matter, as it's important to his style to always keep his cool, but definitely in relationships, Yukimura would avoid putting on masks or deceiving you. Though I think that, if things go really wrong (e.g. you're having a fight with him, breakdown or panic attack), he'll try to keep himself as calm as possible, even if he's storming on the inside. That's a technique a fair few professionals use, and I think Yukimura would be no different. At times, keeping outwardly calm is simply the best course to take until the storm calms down and the two of you can talk it out.

I'm not up to date with what people currently think is desirable in a partner, but I'll still advocate for Yukimura over Saeki :v

Yukimura paints and writes and appreciates art, plus he does gardening, he has his fair share of passions as well :v
And his favourite food is grilled fish and I think that's really cute and I wanted to share that :v

He has so much fun he can go through Muga's final door. So much fun he has to force himself to lie on his bed and laugh pathetically to have fun. The only thing that entertains this guy is the gleeming gold shine of the cup in Seigaku's trophy closet.

Yeah, let's forget that he is vice president of the student council room, didn't really pursue the fact that the captain's position, which clearly belonged to him in all ways, instead went to Aoi, and he still respects him, is nice enough a guy to default if he knows that persons will get hurt, was courageous and brave enough to stand against Kai, when it was clear that Rokkaku already had lost 3 matches and would automatically lose either way, only for the sake of Ojii and Rokkkaku's honor. Literally one person, Kikumaru (and Koharu and Aoi in a pairpuri) have ever put emphasis on his good looks, which clearly don't matter for tennis. And being refreshing isn't a personality trait? The trait to be nice and kind, and brighten up anyone's day with your presence is not being a person? Oh gosh, sorry Sae, you only amount to your looks.

I just feel that, as a character, Yukimura is more defined. His motivation: Win. On court and off court he's not all that different tbh. The only reason why Yukimura might have a slightly deeper story is because: 1. Main boy 2. Hospital drama 3. Wants to win 4. Background childhood story
To make a person deep, you don't necessarily have to bring out angst. Saeki can be a well rounded character without being an orphan that was dumped at Rokkaku's doorstep, without fighting childhood cancer, without angsting about past doubles partners or stolen positions. I'm not an artsy person, so I don't see why Renoir paintings add all that much to a character besides "oh he likes paintings", which on its own is pretty generic for me personally. If there was a dude who said "Oh, I love making decorative sand castles" now that is something on the same level. Both are artsy, and neither of the two are more defining.

Are we assuming that Yukimura will have a breakdown or a panic attack? Now I'm all for looking past faults, but I'm not a person that will willingly go into a relationship where the chance of breakdowns and panic attacks on a deep scale are a common occurence. Call that shitty and rude, but I'm not going to saddle another ones problems; I'm not a fixer.
Besides, keeping calm despite being enraged is good, but sucking that shit up instead of telling ppl what's wrong, instead releasing it in burst of passive agressive comments is not the best option lol. I don't want my hub to treat me as some kind of patiënt who has lost her mind and can't be talked to normally, I don't need persons being condescendingly calm.
