I recently realized that, while Sai is supposedly "good" now, and has gone against Danzou's orders, as well as the ANBU Root in general, Kishimoto didn't exactly close out that story. It now seems that we've moved on altogether and I don't really see any room for this story to surface again in the near future, or ever, for that matter. We still haven't found out what's going on between Danzou and Sai, nor have we heard Sai's thoughts on the matter between the Root and his "friendship" with Naruto and co.
I personally don't think Kishimoto will get back to this story, as it was a bit of placement marker it seems until Kishimoto got the ball rolling (in this case, an avalanche) with the story of Sasuke and his own personal life. Now we've moved onto Akatsuki and are beginning, it seems, to move onto the story between Sasuke and Naruto (if that double page chapter cover is any indication). I would love to see more on Sai's thoughts, his true intentions, Danzou's situation, as well as Root, and Sai's future, is he full of crap, or is this really a changed Sai? It's hard for me to believe, it was so quick and painless, and after Danzou's training of him, his "emotionless" state, it's really underwhelming, personally. Hell, we don't even know his real name, for God's sake!
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Would you like to see Sai's story resurface and find out if he is truly changed, or if this is all just another ploy between him and Danzou? Last, do you think, realistically, that Kishimoto will bring this story back up? Lot's of questions, I know, I like discussion!
