Okay so the series starts off with Sasuke and Naruto at age 12. We get a three year time skip, then we need some good plot justification for both main characters to make insane leaps in order to end up there with the kage level dudes. Normally these ninja take serious time to get there. You can come up with all the cool jutsu you want, but without serious aging (OR a Bijuu or CS or Sage mode), you don't get the serious chakra capacity necessary to keep cranking these jutsu out during a long battle (which kage level battles tend to be).
Pre time skip, plot justification for leaps was all fine. Naruto had Kyuubi, Sasuke had CS. There were levels within those, we got black markings CS, then we got full transformation CS, just as we had orange Naruto, and then one tail Naruto. Post time skip, since Naruto's potential with Kyuubi is huge, the seriously ridiculous leaps he now makes are plot justified. Also, even without enhanced Kyuubi modes, there's the fact that Kyuubi chakra constantly mixes in and adds to his own capacity (otherwise we have no sound explanation for Gaara still being ridiculously powerful post extraction). So this is all fine.
Now Sasuke. He gets CS extracted, and basically loses any plot justification he would have to be able to fight at kage level for more than a minute. Getting MS or EMS is cool and all, very powerful, but in order to pull of serious power, you need serious energy. You can have a Lamborghini and ride REAL fast but only for a very short while if your tank isn't both huge and full. These cars devour gas like MS devours chakra. Now, Sasuke has a 16 year old body with no bijuu and now no CS. If kishi dares make him pull out Susanoo and keep it active for extended periods like Naruto's kyuubi mode and uses "EMS" as justification, I'm calling BS.
