Re: [Featured] Shingeki no Kyojin by ISAYAMA Hajime

I guess that'd mean we can soon expect to get apologies from 90% of all shounen action mangakas for copying Dragon Ball and the likes
Well, in precise, Isayama didn't apologized, he just admitted that he copied.

I don't know why he wrote it as copied, it was more like he received influence.

That is a poor choice of wording if ever that was the case. Would be better if some fans of Muv-Luv did the comparison since they'd be the ones at the better position to clarify this. However, considering how many volumes in the manga is along with its popularity that no one has mentioned anything about Muv-Luv prior might be an indicator that its probably more of loosely influenced than copied, but because it was such a common trope its not as if it was an easily identifiable influence.

Re: [Featured] Shingeki no Kyojin by ISAYAMA Hajime

Isayama Hajime officially announced/admitted that he copied Muvl-Luv Alternative for Shingeki no Kyojin. I wonder if this will have impact on SnK's popularity.

Well, actually he already said the same thing half a year ago. And this time confession/special illust is made for the new tankoubon of Muvluv comic, right?

Re: [Featured] Shingeki no Kyojin by ISAYAMA Hajime

Can anyone translate what the announcement actually says. There is a huge information gap as to what is actually meant by "copied". If all he is saying is that the plot of Muv Luv inspired Shingeki, who cares. If he actually copied art, that's plagiarism and the end of the series. Until there is some clarity as to what he "copied" this bit of news is rather meaningless.

Personally, if all Isayama wrote is that he read Muv Luv and it helped inspire Shingeki, that is hardly news that would impact the series. Kubo Tite stated that the he was inspired by characters from Honey and Clover when he first designed Ichigo and Orihime. Yamada and Orihime are near identical, and I don't think anyone was ever bothered.

Re: [Featured] Shingeki no Kyojin by ISAYAMA Hajime

Well, he uses the word "pakuri" that means plagiarism. Saying he really influenced by it. I think it's more like a neta, a topic for people to talk about. Some haters like Yarabuta really love the bait, I guess.
Never played Muvluv myself, so I can't comment about it.
Uwaa, the female giant choose a drastic way to protect her secret! Can't believe that she choose to make other giants attack her at once and eat her...
The scream is a last measure, I guess, as she doesn't have any way to escape.
I'm interested in the method of hardening part, though, wonder if Eren will be able to do the same thing too.
And freckle girl (Crysta stalker) actually wrong-spelled Bertolt's name... In 2ch, people already making fool of him by calling his name wrong, and now Isayama also forgot his name...

I personally think that the chapter gave more proof (albeit, still indirect) that Ryner is the traitor. One of, anyway. Too many coincidences for my liking.

Really? Ryner just wondering where the canons come from, as he didn't see it before. I still on the side that think Ryner is clean and has no connection with the giants.
And with the female giant died, I'm totally convinced now that she's not Annie. Now waiting for a chapter where she will appear, alive and not in the flashback.

Re: [Featured] Shingeki no Kyojin by ISAYAMA Hajime

It's precisely because while everybody else is being emotional and in shock Ryner wonders about those cannons, or rather the fact he didn't see them and doesn't know where they came from that I strongly suspect him. You see, imo, in this kind of turmoil your brain would only register the fact that the sound you hear is the sound of cannon fire. You hardly would be composed enough to use logic, specifically recalling you didn't see cannons among the things being transported and subsequently wondering about the source of origin of said cannons... No, I think you'd react the way the rest of the guys did, along the lines 'Cannon fire? The hell's going on?!'

In Ryner's case, though, it's like he's wondering about it because it was crucial info and he failed his duty to gather it... like he failed to warn the female titan about those cannons that were in store for her, you know? Coupled with the earlier episode when Armin deduced Eren's location and told about it to Jean and Ryner, with Ryner miraclously surviving the female titan's attack and being close to her ear for a few moments in the process, and then her suddenly changing her direction and heading right where Eren was right after that... that's just one too many convenient coincidences to ignore for me and at the very least it warrans heavy suspicion towards Ryner.

Umm, a logical assumption. But I will keep my faith for Ryner's innocence, and hoping that all of them are red herrings put by Isayama to deceive the readers and not foreshadowing.
Somehow doubting Ryner will make Bertolt and Annie suspicious too.
If Ryner is a spy, wouldn't that make him a spy from 5 years ago, then he will become a child spy? And Bertolt who is from the same village with Ryner will be a spy too.

Re: [Featured] Shingeki no Kyojin by ISAYAMA Hajime

Well read the latest chapter, downloaded it off the Manga Editors site.

Well this manga just continues to impress me. Especially with the way panels flowed at explaining aspects and even linking together characteristics that certain characters shared, including the female titan. A lot of the information we've already figured out, namely that the expedition at the moment is to root out a spy. Added information for us that does further prove Annie's innocence (not like I ever believed it) is the screening process by Irvin of only considering those from 5 years ago. Meaning there is less likely a chance that the spy could come from the new recruits but from the veterans. In addition as discussed earlier Eren's existence is a huge deal for the enemy to act. Moreover, it seems human clad titans have other characteristics they are capable of exhibiting such as the hardening of skin by the female titan, and most likely the armored titan. Meaning they're going to be in for a very difficult battle as they'll need to adjust to dealing with these characteristics - I wonder if part of why they want to eliminate Eren is because he may become a guinea pig in trying to discover as well as developing ways of dealing with these troublesome characteristics. If Eren had fought against the female titan looks like he would have lost big time due to her skin hardening ability, making her punches possibly more lethal or upping her defense.

I have to praise how the Female titan opted to kill herself, if indeed that did happen I mean Eren survived a devouring but yeah more than likely she's a goner, in that it shows that there has to be some type of strong motivation that would allow people to throw away their humanity and become a titan. One has to wonder what these titans are being taught to ingrain in themselves that they would take the risk of becoming a titan. Still I do question whether the titans come from inside the wall or is there a possibility of an outside community? Current theory of the manga is that they come from inside the wall but I wonder if that really is the case?

Another collaboration of Shingeki no Kyojin and Monster Hunter. Now for Monster Hunter 3G (3DS), there is trainee uniform equipment and dual blade like in the manga.

Re: [Featured] Shingeki no Kyojin by ISAYAMA Hajime

Guess it will be a special armor/weapon considering how diferent it is from the usual itens from the game....

Also read the last chapter...very good by the way. :D
Never expected the female Titan would sacrifice herself to protect her identity...also liked the talk between Armin and Jean when they reach the conclusion the spy is one of them.
Can't wait to see what will happen in the next chapter.

Not happy with Eld, Gunta, Petra and Oruo's death. At least we will see Eren vs female giant battle. I'm not sure if Eren will be able to win though...

I think he's talking about the 2nd novel. While the 1st novel is about the weapon used to fight against the giant (the gas and bamboo case, wire thingy), the 2nd novel will be about a baby that survived and crawl out from giant vomit and despised by others because of it, later join investigation squad.

There's some comment of the movie's editor too in the official site. Talking about maybe the movie will be full of mosaic and you won't be able to see anything, and if his previous movies is b-rank movies, this will be a c-rank or d-rank movie.

I don't know how others think, but the current arc isn't really much interesting. I really liked how Isayma created a plot on its early chapters (around up to volume 4), but this arc suddenly makes me to lose interest on this series.

You're probably alone on that one: chasing the female titan was intense, the plot moved forward, and he we now have new, unanswered questions. The contrast of Captain Irving willingly sacrificing his troops to capture the female titan and the female titan willingly sacrificing herself to preserve her secrets and the secrets of her allies was brilliant. And it was brilliant that all the sacrifices the scouts made were for naught, dying in vain after the female titan prevented their victory from having any meaning. Brilliant story telling, very deep. Which is what makes Shingeki so much better than the average shounen action manga - there is more than fighting and super powers. Isayama has something to say about the world and is very good at conveying it. I'm not sure what was not to like about the recent arc, to each his own though, I suppose.

New chapter is out! Get it at TDX's livejournal page.

here is the link :http://tdx-manga.livejournal.com/

Kaiten you said basically what i am thinking right now after reading this chapter.

Eren's decision had dire and unforseen consequences. I really wasn't expecting the death of everyone from Rivaile's squad (Eld, Gunta, Petra, Oruo).
Again i am starting to believe the female titan is Annie...guess we may discover that if she use that kick to put Eren down.

Anyway, i also don't think Eren has much chances to win alone, she is clearly more skilled: being able to stiffen parts of her body and control her regeneration process or even not pass out after a transformation.

His only hope is to kill her before she heal her arms.

Re: [Featured] Shingeki no Kyojin by ISAYAMA Hajime

I fell in love with Shingeki no Kyojin once again after reading chapter 28. Most authors would shy away from showing the downsides to "believing in your comrades" but ISAYAMA Hajime surpasses all that. The way the dark themes are executed is simply amazing. Eren, "Because of my desire to believe in my comrades, all of them are dead. If only I had chosen to believe in myself from the start and joined the fight... If only I had chosen to slay her from the beginning...!" - That monologue was just beautiful.

I expected as much, the female titan did in fact use the vapor to get away. Her skills are on another level. But her objectives still remains a mystery...? She could potentially be there to kill or recruit Eren, either way is fine for me since they are both interesting outcomes.

The more important question is how will titan Eren fare against the more experienced female titan? The female titans is injured in both arms, and has one eye for now... Eren might have a chance. Hopefully, Eren might learn something about his titan powers in this fight.

Re: [Featured] Shingeki no Kyojin by ISAYAMA Hajime

I'll be removing the spoiler tags here once 24 hours have passed so no worries :)

Eren has two advantages to this fight a) injuries his comrades had left on the female giant of which even if she regenerates given that Eren is about to pummel her still leaves her at a disadvantage of having to regenerate more parts that will be injured and b) she has to be low on stamina. The second advantage is crucial if they wish to capture her since it is only a matter of wasting her stamina till she returns to human form and that should be even more wholly possible if Eren beats her titan form a pulp to the point that her regeneration exhausts her. Assuming of course Rivaile comes and will still carry out that mission if he sees his comrades have been killed, he's the only one in the forest at the moment and the most likely one to arrive on the scene first given than Irvin seemed to have him stand by.

On another note the death of Eren's comrades due to him trusting them shouldn't entirely be Eren's fault but if you reverse the reasoning they had it should apply that they didn't trust Eren either, despite them trying to be closer to him and all. In the end they were still very much afraid of the titan's power. Still I hope this arc Eren will trust in himself more and same with his possible new comrades, I'm guessing Mikasa will be joining his team soon :D.
