When I read that line, I was like "well, fuck, that makes absolute sense". Zackley has been shown to be extremely mindfucked (his treatment of the noble families), and the one reason we have for thinking he's a nice guy is how he saved Eren from the evulz military police who wanted him dead. We know he is extremely powerful and a pretty good politician, as he's the commander of all military forces inside the Wall.

And if he was the warrior's version of Erwin, we know that Erwin had pretty unconventional, ground-breaking ideas for the SC, so what could be an unconventional and ground-breaking idea for the Warriors? Infiltrating the enemy (people inside the wall), obtaining a great power, and tearing them apart from the inside when they least expect it. Allowing Eren to continue roaming freely when he knew that he was quite obviously Humanity's big hope instead of simply crushing it (as a normal, non-extremely-twisted person would do to his enemy's secret weapon).

Now I go into random theory time:

Let's assume the Warriors' goal is to destroy the wall and people inside it because of the First king. Perhaps the first king was a warrior who defected, stealing the coordinate from them. Then he runs out to a location where a bunch of normal humans live (think of Ymir's people, only Ymir's people received the Warrior's visit instead of a defecting warrior) and informs them of his plan to create a personal paradise where titans won't eat them, and people go. He then uses the coordinate to create a few Walls and tells the normal Titans to get the hell out of his personal playground. But in the process people find out he's a freaking titan-human hybrid like the monsters that haunted them and go into panic. And right then he brainwashes all of them thanks to the coordinate+whatever original skill his bloodline had that empowers him to do that.

Except for the fancy bloodlines that see what has happened and how everybody has suddenly gone retarde/forgotten what has just happened and are confused. But the First king also notices this, and since he doesn't know what the hell failed in the brainwashing, he offers a truce with them, like "Look, I'll be the king since I created these walls, but you can be my right hand men". Eventually he finds out that the people unaffected by the brainwashing are the bloodlines A,B,C, Asians and Ackermans, with Ackermans also being incredibly good fighters, so he fears them, and in comes Kenny's grandpa story. Bloodlines A,B and C are small enough or have no particular skill, so they continue to be in noble positions. The asians, I don't know. Racism, perhaps? Mikasa's mother was targeted for being an exotic beauty, and the First King doesn't really WANT that many noble families because they are a bug in his perfect brainwashing, after all...

Now, Zackley the Warrior arrives into this fancy story, and his goal is TO PUNISH THE FIRST KING AND THESE PUNY LITTLE HUMANS. He goes particularly sadistic on the noble families because they have been the main reason why the first king's plan even succeeded. Eren's appearance, Erwin's revolution, etc all have worked into his plan of getting rid of the First King's legacy entirely.

First we find out the king is a fake and the real king is somewhere else ruling from the shadows. Then we find out the secret is is basically rod reiss. He is trying to make historia, his secret bastard daughter, into the new secret king. Or queen w/e. This.... kinda makes sense although it is remarkably weird.

Now this is what makes the least sense as far as I can tell. After the fake king is exposed and the identity of the secret king revealed they make the point that they need a new king for some stability mumbo jumbo. And so historia is made the new queen as a way to keep stability. And now the big question, does it make a shred of sense this works at all?

The situation here is that there was a fake king who was placed by a secret king who ruled from the shadows. The fake king was merely a figurehead and it is kinda unclear what rod did. And then when the fake king is deposed it is the secret king's bastard secret daughter that is placed to rule. Why in the holy fuck are people cool with this? How is ok for the secret king's secret bastard daughter to rule because people saw her hack a piece of meat falling from the sky? How did people even know that piece of meat was their enemy? They probably would have thought the titan died when it exploded, her hacking a flying piece of meat and then proclaiming herself queen should make her look like a lunatic rather than make her a queen. Am I missing something?

It's not that weird; considering that Rod was already "found out", he wanted her to become Queen/a shifter ASAP because he wanted her to mindwipe everyone again and make them all forget about it once more, effectively reverting everything that had been done.

Everyone would forget about the recent events, probably even the existence of Wall Maria, and thus everyone would, again, be living in a fabricated "world of peace with no conflict".

The way I see it, this is how it would go when trying to explain it to the citizens:
- the King was a fake -> people go "ok, fuck him then, nobody cares about him I guess."
- the Reiss are the actual, royal lineage, but Rod is a dickback who doesn't care about the people, here's all the evidence -> people go "well that fucking sucks, too..."
- but wait, Historia, Rod's daughter, is actually good, and she even killed him after he became a huge Titan that was going to wipe out the whole district -> people go "ok cool, guess she's one of the good ones then, maybe we can trust her? Also she's part of the Scouting Legion, and they seem to be the only ones who care about freedom and living beyond the Walls... yeah... Also Rod was lying all this time and we were always played with and had our own memories wiped out God knows how many times... yeah fuck that, we're going with the badass queen, I mean shit she even built an orphanage, and they taxed the wealthy! That has to mean something!"

Kinda answered this in what I said above, but:
- there's a lot more factors other than Historia simply killing Rod;
- Well, Titans are everyone's enemies, and this one was the biggest anyone had ever seen. It was pretty damn obvious that it was going to obliterate everything if it wasn't for the SL;
- Well, to be fair (and this I admit it's kinda weird but not really), the citizens are the ones who first ask/claim that she was the one who killed it.

I mean, yes, she does proclaim to be Queen right then and there, but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of explaining was done to the people before she was actually crowned, you know, to tell everyone the whole truth.

Also remember the whole thing with the journalists, who were already spreading what was actually happening, and how everyone had been deceived by the fake King + Ross.

Whenever someone says that "this" or "that" went meta, or had a "meta" ending, it means that the ending in question "breaks" the notion of "fiction" that the movie/manga/anime should be/have, and crosses over to real life.

For example, I think this is a great example of stuff going meta:

See, in that scene, the movie is bluntly acknowledging that it's a movie, when movies should be all about keeping the suspension of disbelief, you know?

Another example of meta stuff would be, the characters are about to confront the bad guy in his lair, but when they enter his room, they find the IRL director/screenwriter, who tells them to wait because he hasn't written the ending yet or something like that.

So, in this case - if I understood correctly what Manta was trying to say - the "fourth wall" is exactly that, the fourth wall, the "wall" that separates that audience from the fictional universe.

If a character in the movie talks or blinks to the audience, that's "breaking" the fourth wall, because they're acknowledging that they're being watched, which is the same as admitting that the whole thing is fake.

Is that clear enough for you or is it still confusing?

(Oh, and meta stands for metaphysical I guess).
