In the most recent chapter, Sasuke declared himself a Hokage candidate that shocked everyone except for Naruto.
Having seen Sasuke's development upto now, this statement seems to stem from the following factors.
1.A Hokage is the most powerful and influencial member of the Konoha village.
2.Despite his many accomplishments, Itachi was just a foot soldier and so could not actively take part in the discussions that may have spared the massacre on his clan
3.Sasuke has come to know about the thought processes of the previous Hokage(specifically Hashirama and Tobirama), so he is suited for being Hokage.
4.He's a master tactician when not laughing like a lunatic
5.Naruto, for all his heroic achievements, is anything but a leader.
Then again, there are several factors that go against Sasuke:
1.He's always isolated himself and never been a total team member.
2.His actions haven't always been carefully thought out.
3.He abandoned his village to collaborate with the person who was responsible for the recent destruction of the village as well as the death of the Hokage.
4.He has been a member of the outlawed group Akatsuki.
5.He attempted to kidnap the jinchuriki of the Cloud village.
6.He attacked the Five Kage Summit and cut off the Raikage's arm.
7.He killed the intermediate Hokage Danzo.
That's a long list of negatives and despite his reasons(killing Danzo is the only thing he can get away with, if at all), he will have to do a lot to convince the people of Konoha of his aspirations to be the leader of the village.
And given that Naruto has the same goals, as well as the backing of the entire village and the current Hokage, it is difficult to see how anyone else can be Hokage.
And even if Naruto decides to withdraw, it seems Shikamaru is the best suited for his generation.
Please give your thoughts about whether Sasuke deserves to be Hokage, and if he does, how he should overcome the negative aspects mentioned above. And if not Sasuke or Naruto, who should be Hokage from Naruto's generation?Shikamaru?Someone else?
