This thread is to discuss the potential ability of human-form special bloodlines not so much the titan ones which will be in a separate thread.
The big question?
Okay so with the new chapter out the major question on everyones mind is was Historia's
Rod flashback part of a new power related to the Reiss family or not? After thinking about it for awhile I think the answer might be yes!
Read the Fine Print
You know if you go back and reread many chapters knowing what we now know about Reiner and Bertolt being titan shifters you can see many clues layered out in their reaction you never noticed your first time reading before.
I suspect that Historia's flashback was not placed in the scene by accident it is a HUGE CLUE being waved in our faces.
Bloodlines
We know for a fact there are special abilties in the world of attack on titan that don't involve titan transformations as we have seen in the Ackerman clan's fighting ability. I'm going to theorize that there are at least 2 sides to this kind of ability as sense of balance.
So much like in Naruto which had the Senju clan who were born with strong physical energies & Uchiha clan which had powerful mental energies. I suspect much the same is true with the Ackerman & Reiss bloodlines representing physical and mental abilties.
1: Ackerman clan - Has a special bloodline that once awakened gives them incredible inherent fighting instincts. Immune to mind washing.
2: Reiss clan - Perhaps they have a special ability to share their thoughts or an almost empathic ability. They are the only ones able to use the full power of the coordinate. Immune to mind washing.
3: Asian clan - All we know is that they are immune to the coordinate mind washing but maybe they have an ability too? I imagine maybe something like longevity.
Reiss clan ability
Now the fact that the Reiss clan is supposedly the only ones who can use the full power of the coordinate may relate to what the coordinate is. The coordinate appears to something deeply connected with mental abilties, it's mind washing humans and titan controlling powers are both types of mind control powers !
Now if the Reiss family has some kind of inherent mental powers this may relate to why they can use the coordinate as it may be a prerequisite to have strong mental energy of some sort. However I feel as though their mental powers are a double edged sword and it is also what makes them vulnerable to the coordinates mental imprinting influence. The truth could be that even the First King himself was just a pawn as all the members who came after him.
Historia's brief mental exchange with her father could be a clue as to the abilities of the Reiss clan to somehow absorb/exchange memories under certain conditions. I suspect physical contact is a necessary component of this but emotional condition is also important.
The fact that Rod became an abnormal titan shifter might be due to his mental energies. Perhaps this is what he was alluding to when he said he can not become a titan, perhaps he knew he would become abnormal because his abilties had already awakened and this would be the result.
If you notice most all the Reiss family members who became inheritors of the coordinate went through the exchange as teenagers at the time. Perhaps this was a precaution to transform them into titans before their abilities awakened so they behave like regular titans and eat the coordinate holder in front of them, rather than run away and act weird like an abnormal ones.
Anyways feel free to share your thought on any special bloodlines abilties of human from characters?
