Let's discuss how to improve our spoiler threads. We tried a new system this week, and received some complaints. So we'd love to hear your opinions on it. How to improve? What's lacking? What is the 1st thing you look for on it? How many times do you check it a day?

A poll will be posted later; although the results won't necessarily reflect the definitive staff decision, they will help us to find a good solution to the problem that can please the majority.

The new system isn't bad. Though will there be another thread for international translations? Also will the posts be deleted after they are transferred to the first post?

i think it's a bit confusing, you have spoiler repeated twice...I understand that you want to mass everything together, but this way things get repeated.

Maybe before it worked better. Since the spoilers are tagged with a status, people can read and know what is confirmed or not.

Also, people (me included) participate in the spoiler hunt and enjoy it. If you start deleting their posts, it would take away the drive to do so (imo).

i think it's a bit confusing, you have spoiler repeated twice...I understand that you want to mass everything together, but this way things get repeated.

Maybe before it worked better. Since the spoilers are tagged with a status, people can read and know what is confirmed or not.

Also, people (me included) participate in the spoiler hunt and enjoy it. If you start deleting their posts, it would take away the drive to do so (imo).

The spoiler hunt is stupid, IMO. 90% of the people who post either post fakes or repeats. Other forums only allow mods to post which is the way it should be. If the mods can't find spoilers than I don't know why they are mods.

if it was other thread with the sum of the confirmed spoilers, would be much better in my opinion.

mangahelpers has a good forum to discuss stuff because of the rules they created and followed

That's your opinion.

the fakes get deleted right away, and still people will post fakes even in the new system.

As for mods only posting >Not really, NF has members posting as well as mangashare. This way allows members to feel more active in the community.
This is a community in the end, you want people to participate. If you start taking these privileges from them it will affect the system. Like I said, most people want to discuss and part of them want to translate/hunt/be active.

Let everyone have a choice to do what they want to do.

for the most part it works, but it's still kinda pointless if it isn't updated as quickly as the new spoiler comes out. Only way to fix it is to have the spoilers go through the mods so they can post it and not allow others to post in there...of course this runs into the same problem of the mods not being around to post the spoilers.

Hum, yes, at least this week the spoilers are posted twice, and that's a bit redundanct, but this is because of the "thanks" button, since all the thanks will vanish once we delete the spoilers.

And in a first moment, the international translations will be listed in the first post, spoiler tagged, below the original script/translation.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback and suggestions, they were very appreciated and we'll work looking to improve that section

forget about the thanks. If people are posting spoilers just for thanks, that's sad. I always felt thanks were something more for quality posts.

I understand the philosophy that you want everyone to participate. I take a more conservative view in that not everyone should be allowed to participate. Just like everyone doesn't get equal playing time on a sports team. Some things should be left up to people that know what they are doing. There are plenty of other ways for people to participate beside finding and posting spoiler pictures. Maybe if the fake/repeats got deleted faster it wouldn't be a problem but they don't. I think the system is broken and this new layout is much better but still not optimal. We need to find a better way of putting in the non-english translations.

I don't agree with that at all. Spoilers are serious business. If you want that fake bs stuff, go to teh toshokan or the hangout. Having fake spoilers cause way more problems than fun.

Mangahelpers did start by the members for the members....

The system functioned rather well with the exception of last week (or was it the one before?)...saying more would be just repeating, though I get where you coming from, but there are also other people who see it differently....
