I think it was stated in the fanbook that his stamina was still unsteady because he just recovered from an illness. So, I think if he undergoes surgery and trains a bit afterwards the stat is gonna get a major boost should be his stamina.
This is a good point I forgot about. I feel like the main question when talking about Yukimura's stats is whether the post-surgery boosts should be part of the 2-3 points or not. I was assuming the latter, so in my stats he got more than that.

Atobe (+1 STA, +0.5 MEN)
SPE: 4, POW: 4, STA: 6, MEN: 5, TEC: 6 =OVERALL: 25
I think +1.5 is too little when almost everyone else gets +2 or +3 considering that Atobe is one of the fastest growing characters. I honestly almost felt bad about only giving him +2.5 myself.

No comments on the other two. I don't agree with them, but it's just a matter of preference at the moment. I think we might get a better idea for Fuji's boosts next month though.

Any predictions for Germany's stats?
Bismarck (Total: 29)
SPE: 6, POW: 5, STA: 5, MEN: 6, TEC: 7

Going with the theory that he's No. 3 obviously. Still thinking he's a technical player, so put the 7 there and distributed the 6s to maximize the area value.

QP (Total: 30.5)
SPE: 5.5, POW: 5, STA: 6, MEN: 7, TEC: 7

Assuming him as No. 2. I wanted to put Volk at 32, so had to go with a 1.5 increase compared to Bismarck.

Volk (Total: 32)
SPE: 5, POW: 7, STA: 8, MEN: 7, TEC: 5

I think the pros (and maybe Reinhardt) will have an 8 somewhere. It seems like there are certain thresholds at which most HS singles players get an individually higher stat, and the next one is probably around 31.

Agree with the Tezuka stats.

Volk should have off the charts technique too. I think a 7 for his power is way too much, a 6 there and a 7 in technique would be better I think.

For Germany my predictions are:

Bismarck:

SPE: 6, POW: 5, STA: 5, MEN: 6, TEC: 7

QP:

SPE: 5, POW: 5.5, STA: 6, MEN AND TEC: 7

Volk:

SPE: 7, POW: 6, STA: 8, MEN: 7, TEC: 7

And for Tezuka:

SPE: 5, POW: 4.5, STA: 5, MEN: 6, TEC: 7

And then, USA:

Kiko:

SPE: 5, POW: 4.5, STA: 5, MEN: 7, TEC: 5

Dodo:

SPE: 7, POW: 6, STA: 6, MEN: 5, TEC: 5

Reindhart:

SPE: 4.5, POW: 5, STA: 6, MEN: 8, TEC: 7

Volk struck me as more of a physical player than a technical one, so I don't think he necessarily needs 7 in Technique. And he didn't have trouble with Hyakuren, so he should have considerable power. But maybe having both at 6 could work too.

Volk doesn't seem like a power player so a 7 in power is unlikely because thats only reserved mostly for players with a power playstyle. He definitely could have an 8 in stamina however. I don't see his speed or technique being under 6. He is definitely not lacking in fundamentals and seems to be a very skilled player, he was able to quickly discern the weaknesses that Tezuka had and as the best player on the best team it would be disappointing if he had technique on the same level as someone like Duke. I am guessing a 6 in speed at least because he probably has monster lower body strength.

He didn't even break a sweat literally against Tezuka or when he was jogging with Tezuka while Tezuka was near his limit stamina wise. Tezuka has mediocre stamina but his stamina isn't "bad". Thats pretty dam crazy.

I think its still too early to predict Volk seeing as he has barely played a lot. He was able to take on Tezuka with little effort but that was expected as he is a Pro from the Top country in the WC.

I think fuji gets a +1 boost in technique and maybe +0.5/1 in mental for stopping his defensive tennis and focusing on attacking.

So, curious to hear some more opinions on Bismarck's stats now that the match is over. I'm tempted to scale back to a 28 on my sheet, not sure which 6 to drop though.

Also, what about Siegfried? I'd estimate him to have 22-23 total at the moment.

He managed to stand up again after taking a Duke Homerun to the face and even rejoined the match eventually (kinda unclear whether he could've continued right away or not), so his power and stamina should be quite high. His technique seems good too, if Duke hadn't caught that final volley I feel as if it would've been right on the line.

His speed is a bit lacking I think and I'm unsure about his mental (on the one hand he's very arrogant which usually means lower mental, but on the other hand he has decent analysis abilities and a strong desire for victory). Overall I'd give him like a 3/6/5/4/5 I guess?

A 6 in power seems to much for him, he doesn't seem to rely on his power and didn't show anything to back it up.

My estimates:

POW: 4. SPE: 3. MEN: 5. TEC: 5. STA: 5 (Total: 22)

Yeah, I just gave it to him because he didn't get KO'd by the Homerun and Power tends to also be indicative of body strength in general. In some cases that kind of thing is attributed to Stamina as well though, so switching the two would also be a possibility. That's just when going for a 23 total, for a 22 total I'd just have both of them at 5.

Maybe having both at 5 would seal the deal?

Imo:

SPE: 3, POW: 5, STA: 5, MEN: 5, TEC: 4 (Total: 22)

Maybe a .5 here and there.

Well if you wanna get him to 23 you can do it as I did it but give him 2 .5s somewhere.

I changed my mind about Volk. He might be even better than I previously though.
I think he will have the highest stats we have seen by a very large margin.

Something like:

Power 6
Speed 7
Technique 7
Mental 8

I think the 2 other pros will have an 8 in a stat or two too. Reinhardt may have 8 mental since his mental is supposed to be exceptional.
Stamina 8

Total: 36

well for tezuka i think that it will be something like this:

power-5
speed-5
mental-7
stamina at least 5.5 , it takes some considerable stamina to make ATOBE of all people get worn out.
and tech goes to 7
total minimum 29.5 but this is what i expect it would be.

i think fuji gets
power-4
speed-4.5 ( i think during the duke match fuuji has been moving a bit swiftly, but maybe not)
stamina-4.5(the reasoning behind these 3 stats is that these are the bare minimum to even be playing at the world level, and to not be a total liability in the doubles)
technique-6 i wonder why fuuji's tech was at 5 anyways?, i dont see niou hitting Hakuryu's
mental- 4.5 i dont need to explain why mental wont hit 5, it probably should drop too....fuuji seems to be deteriorating if anything .
total 23.5???? for fuuji..not bad.

Yukimura:
i really dont want it too close to tezuka, but this is arguably japan u14's no.1/or 2 ...screw toyoma :(
so lets just raise that power to 5 and maybe edge that mental and tech to 6.5.....he's got more balls than anyone else on tht team. but we all know why stamina stays down.
total: 26.5...sounds fair, but too close to the Hschoolers maybe?

Atobe:
you get nothing....till you find what your lacking, and i can only say that your lacking the main/sub main character block that tezuka and ryoma have.....it wont get much better than this mate.

Considering Volk's serve's speed, I feel like he'd have a 7 or 8 in power. I don't really know what spread to give him at the moment though since I'm not sure which total to aim for. But probably focus on Power, Stamina, Mental and a little less in the other two.

I think QP is gonna be like Shiraishi and Tokugawa and have a balanced spread. Either all 6s or all 6.5s, but a little higher than Tokugawa in any case.

Tezuka probably got the biggest boosts in Speed, Stamina and Mental. Power +1 to get him up to par there. But overall something like 6/5/5/6/6 I think, maybe a 7 somewhere, but not so sure about that.

@above:
Your Fuji spread only totals 23-23.5, you counted Stamina twice. Also, regarding Technique, the stat is only partially determined by special moves, it also takes control in general and such into account. Special moves are more or less unique to the respective characters. E.g. Shiraishi can hit Entaku Shot with 3.5 Technique, but that doesn't mean everyone who has 4+ Technique can also use that move.

wow, i thought i was good at math
and that explains the kaidoh's pathetic tech stat, even though he invented the infamous boomerang. but fuuji still had amazing control, the guys hit cord balls with his eyes closed, and can force the ball onto the other side of the racket without it falling off, he can nullify power and spin by reacting to the impact the ball has on the racket, fuuji has GREAT control, i doubt he has yukimura's level of control, but i thought he would have like a 5.5, im probably just fanboying anyway.

I think in Volk's case I'm settling for this:
Speed: 6
Power: 7
Stamina: 8
Mental: 8
Technique: 6
Total: 35

It's a pretty tough call since we don't know that much about him yet, but considering what he's said to Tezuka I think it's best to conclude that stamina and mental are his strongest points. Kinda feel like Power could be an 8 as well, but I'm trying to keep his total at least somewhat close to the others.

Also, after thinking about it, I feel more comfortable going for all 6s in QP's case and lowering Tokugawa to all 5.5s. I feel like QP wouldn't be that far ahead of Byoudouin (or the level I theorize for him anyway) that all 6.5s is justifiable.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---
So as some of you might recall, a few weeks ago I theorized in the hangout that QP is like a combination of Yanagi and Akaya, and I was wondering what his stat spread might look like if it applied to that as well. For this I averaged Yanagi's and Sane Devil Akaya's stats to create a stat priority ranking, then applied 7 to the highest and adjusted the rest accordingly. Here's what I came up with:
Speed - 6
Power - 5.5
Stamina - 4.5
Mental - 7
Technique - 6
(Total - 29)

What I find particularly interesting about this is that his strengths, interpreted this way, line up perfectly with Irie's. The 29 total also lines up better with my level cut-off theories (20+ = 1st string, 25+ = G10, 30+ = pro, all for singles only) which is a nice bonus.
--- Double Post Merged, ---
What kinda stats are you guys imagining for Heracles?

He had afterimages like Ochi, so I guess their Speed might be similar. Being Heracles he probably also has a lot of power and the Greek were said to have good control, i.e. probably decent Technique. I guess Stamina and Mental would be lower to balance that out? So right now I'm thinking something like:
Speed - 6
Power - 7
Stamina - 4
Mental - 4
Technique - 5
(Total - 26)

What do you think is the limit of a stat? Can we see a player having "10"? :o

I doubt it. It might be possible that Nanjirou has one, but given the current pattern I don't think we'll see anyone with more than an 8. Maybe, maybe a 9 if Konomi wants to use the highest single digit number, but even that's pushing it in my eyes.

Any stat ideas for Jean and Chris? I imagine they might be pretty similar with Jean being maybe 1 point higher overall. Probably in 23 range if they're supposed to be weaker than Sanada and Yukimura individually?
--- Double Post Merged, ---
Well, second time's the charm. How would you guys rate the Australians, all of them? For Jean, Chris, Milky and Mac based on their matches and predictions for Dorgias, Crawford and Hewitt.

I'm sure you didn't see this coming, but I'm indeed interested in some explanations:
  • Are you putting the Japanese as significantly stronger than in vol 10.5? If not, how will they defeat players with stats 5-10 points higher?
  • What about the other American reps we haven't seen yet, like Pacino and Jackson? Wondering about this because of the gap between Dodo/Kiko and Rocky. Or do you think Rocky is just bad compared to the others?
  • Sticking with the US for a moment, what playstyle do you have in mind for Kiko with those stats?
  • Why are you estimating Millman at 5 power? Ochi has only 4 after all.
  • No guess for Crawford?
