Discussion Straw Hat Explusion

Say you're the captain of the Straw Hat pirates and you were forced to kick out one member of your current crew. Which crew member would you expel and why?

Personally I would kick out Brook. Why? I think his overall impact on the crew is negligible. Also, I feel like Brook's introduction back in Thriller Bark Arc was uninspired. Unlike the other crew members, I have a hard time caring for his character. Those are some of my thoughts.

Anyway, feel free to comment. I would love to hear what you guys think.

Well this is a hard desicion... and if I really really really had to.... it would be ussopp.
- OF all the tragic pasts, his was the least tragic
- He's a coward
- The others are just more unique / funnier / hotter / cooler

I would kick franky out, he is my least favorite mugiwara..

but if I have to kick one then I will choose Franky to go out of SHP
its just personal taste, because I don't really like robot (including cyborg)​

I can see why people would want to kick Usopp out, but not so much with Franky.

I like how Oda makes Usopp as 'special' one to save the day with a surprise twist

Normally I'd say Usopp, but he really is funny
Then I would say Nami. She's my least favorite, prolly of the way she was introduced, but she's the navigator so they need to hire someone else, maybe they can hire Bepo

I agree with you on your points concerning Usopp. I'm not too fond of Franky as well, but his services as a shipwright are invaluable. Tough to get rid him before others I'd reckon.

If this is simply based on personal opinion, well anyone goes, if we are also taking in the person's role on the ship, well its different.

They can't make it without Nami (navigator), Chopper (Doctor), Franky (Shipwright), Sanji (Cook). Those ones are absolutely necessary. Then for the fighters, the Monster trio are needed.
That basically leaves Usopp (liar, sniper), Robin (archaeologist), Brook (musician).
These 3 are expendable in terms of the day to day running of the crew. They are important but not as much.
Of those, Usopp is next important IMO, as a sniper, he is pretty valuable. Robin would be next as someone with extensive knowledge and brook last because he is just a musician.

In terms of usefulness and character, I find brook the most expendable by a pretty significant margin.

You can make two separate decisions. One based off your personal feelings, and the other decision can be based off a crew member's usefulness and value to the crew.

I'd say Usopp except that if he were kicked out, then Luffy & Law would be toys and the manga would be over.

Since I don't want to kick out anyone of them because I like all the characters, I'll make a decision based on usefulness criteria.

Brook.
Until the story adds more value to his character*, he's the least indispensable member of the crew.

*me thinks: there's someone in WG/Tenryuubito who is desperately trying to extend his lifespan; maybe there's a relationship with Pluton; maybe in the future he will become able to do what Moria do to shadows, maybe even bring back briefly a deceased one, or visit heaven for a short time... Oh, this is not the "Crazy Theories" discussion. Sorry

Brook. Not been in any major fight, even now he is in the ship doing nothing. He couldnt even defeat Jora.

Well he is the one who ended up tricking and defeating jora.

Chopper because he's useless. He doesn't do anything or contribute to the crew other than being cute.

Aw c'mon, he's the doc. Zoro after thriller bark? Luffy after enies lobby? Nah, chopper is one of the most vital in the crew.

I would like to see Chopper gone as well, but prefer in the form of reindeer stew.
